I mean, sure, I guess.
But I think anyone who would suggest this, probably has no brothers, doesn't know they're father (or if they do they've always had they're own restroom at home), and they've clearly never mistakenly walked into a men's public restroom.
If they had, they would know that guys are gross. Like really gross in their own restroom at home (especially, if their mother cleans it for them), and then you give them a place where there's no accountability for the condition of a room when they leave.
You have no idea, it's unacceptable in almost every example.
Why would anyone want to sit in a strangers pee? Because that's what you're asking for if you want same sex bathrooms.
Not to mention, is the one public place where is OK to take your dick out? Trusty me you don't want to put women in there, especially since they're going to be expossing their vaginas while they're in there.
It's just to much, and guys aren't good with self control, and even worse if their dick is in their hand.
In my experience (I've come across them in Denmark), they make pretty much everybody feel uncomfortable. I'm not in favour of them.
I’ve seen them a lot in France too
There is probably more of that where I am, in California, than anywhere else, save maybe New York.
Mostly, it is just a single stall bathroom that either gender can use but you just lock it behind you and no one else can come in until you go out.
Target Stores started letting men go into the women's room, but swiftly got complaints when old men would show up standing in front of horrified mothers who had their little girls in tow.
There is a live theater in Berkeley that has gender neutral restrooms but took out the urinals in the men's so everyone has to go into a private stall, so at least there is that level of privacy in them and since it is a theater with live performances that are anywhere from PG-13 to X rated, it is not a problem with the type of audience they attract. It is still an experience to be in a large public restroom washing your hands next to a man in the bathroom, with others waiting their turn behind you.
Anyway, hope that helps Ms Cindy :)
Can you add a fourth option of "this shouldn't be an issue to anyone and it is just a petty topic that is pushed to the forefront to avoid people discussing actually important topics in the public discourse in America like poverty, homelessness, wars, proper healthcare system, etc."? I think that option would be a good polling option and I would choose that one because I have seen them here in my home country and no one cares that they exist, they are toilets for christ's sake!
No offense to the asker here, I totally get that you hear these topics come up all the time and I heard them when I lived in the USA, Australia and Britain and it is such an over exaggerated topic in those countries

I'm neutral... I'm sure that most are one per person. But women and men using the bathroom at the same time.. That's soically very interesting! Only with stalls of course but it's kind of a fun concept. As long as men behave but something tells me that sounds more whimsical then true. Just one bathroom conversation with a girl or sharing a stall next to a girl would be fun. Of course I believe that to not reality but just to have an extra level of feeling included... In thoughts it feels nice but in practice and safety for women it's just not possible
In the last 15 years, I have seen more women coming into a men's restroom alone, with nothing sexual happening to the woman, or her being harassed or embarrassed.
Now, with signs, like above, starting to appear because of "Social Compliance" being mandated, Uni-sex restrooms are not only going to be avoidable... there going to be shoved down everyone's throats
i want to say that i'd be okay with it but honestly, i'd feel uncomfortable with it. we had a female, male and unisex toilet at my high school and it wasn't that bad since it was all young students but it was awkward to change pads in there while guys were using it.
I don't know if it's because society has always taught us about the separate restrooms but i would rather keep them separate. i know that there's the whole thing with other genders which aren't female and male and father's needing to change their kid's diaper but in actual fact, i still wouldn't want to use a unisex one over females
There may be safety concerns in unisex toilets...
Plus, I don't feel it would be comfortable...
Not all men are nice and respectful towards women...
I saw few of the comments from boys, they're telling it to be good, one guy told such public place to be a better place for sex! Disgusting...
A man was arguing with a woman how she didn't like unisex toilets... It's her preference...
So even these comments again suggest separate toilets for men and women are better...
It's my view...
Typically they are ok, cleaner, as they don't get as much use. They can lead to perverts Looking for trouble, so I wouldn't want kids around, but if I need to pee and it is the only option then as long as the stall has a door and a lock on it, unless you are Superman and can see through walls, I have no major concern.
Additionally, it isn't as if unisex toilets will have urinals on the wall, so guys can't expose themselves to any woman that enters to do her business.
They're fine as long as only one person will be in it at a time. (Or only one adult, with children) But I wouldn't be okay with a unisex bathroom that both genders would be going in and out of at the same time, such as the typical type of public bathroom with stalls. Those should be for one adult gender only.
In the end, a toilet is a toilet.
What's special about ladies rooms? Probably that there's a closed bin to throw away personal sanitary garbage.
Apart from that it's identical to a make room.
And when people visit your house, they just use the room... nobody speaks about men or girls's rooms.
In many buildings it would save a lot of space as well.
The whole freak-out about bathrooms was and will always be ridiculous. If anything, people spend on average 10 minutes there if even. Logically, it's much more cost efficient than separate areas and I feel the best solutions to keep people shut up about feelings oof insecurity is to only put stalls in it while putting natural, public urinals around where possible. as this can help prevent public urination and larger bathroom crowds. I can swear I've also heard of possibilities to convert waste into energy so combining all this together would be an amazing cost saving solution.
I lived in a coed dorm for two years in college and there was a large coed bathroom on each hall. There were around ten showers and ten toilets and sinks in the bathroom. Every morning it would be really crowded with males and females getting ready for class. Some were naked, some girls wearing bras and panties (or just panties). I showered every morning with a lot of other people also showering and it wasn't a big deal. After living like that for two years I learned that coed restrooms are ok.
Like the ones that are just for one user at a time? No different than what my experience has been in my own private house since I was old enough to use a toilet. I don’t see the issue here.
But I’ve also used men’s washrooms when the lineup to the women’s was far too long for me to wait in. Never had a problem and if there were guys in it, they didn’t care.
I try to spend as little time in a public restroom as possible. Get in, poop, get out.
I do like the separation of men & women. It is really awkward when I have to pee at the bar, and there are girls doing their thing in the toilet stalls in the men's room. (Unless its an emergency, like they're throwing up, I can have sympathy for that)
Bad. You don't want people to think it's ok. But if they were to and no one notices that you are a female/male might be ok. But if someone were to get caught and cause a huge problem? That's when you should probably step in and it's not ok. Because you don't want to have to waste your time and resources on them. And it's just better and easier this way.
guys toilets are disgusting awful hellpits. no one should ever have to use one. I feel completely uncomfortable in guys restrooms... so, i dunno whatever. i usually use the private (family) restrooms if possible. sometimes i go in the girls restroom if it seems like no one is there (or no one cares, like if it's just my friends and no one else is around)
I'll never support them. I've seen into the hearts of too many men to know that sending your 12 year old daughter into a bathroom with a bunch of men is a good idea. I don't believe in fairy tales nor do I believe as a species or a society that we have evolved to a point where that is a good idea. Stupid in my opinion.
I believe they should make a unisex bathroom in every school or big stores and shopping places but more like a single stall where you lock the door, but not a big unisex bathroom because I believe that would lead to Perverts and sexual assault. It would be cool to have one like the ones at the mall for moms and their kids to go to because non-binary and trans people would feel better and shy pee-ers but not an actual full bathroom
In my personal experience they are fine.
I've been in a small art school and there were floor 0 and floor - 1. The women's toilet is up and the men's down. They both became unisex naturally because it was too uncomfortable to walk to the other point of the school. Haven't had any problem or felt uncomfortable. I don't know.
Also I'm fine when at some small pubs and bars there's only one bathroom and it's for everyone. Never had problem there either.
If you want to have a quickie with a girl, you don't have to sneak in. You both just go in and lock yourselves and do your business. After you are done one person checks to make sure no one is about and you both come out and wash your hands without worrying about any one coming in because it's unisex.
if your talking single stall 1 toilet, 1 sink, etc. then not much of an issue really. other then just making sure people don't mess up the place.
however once you do multiple stalls. that gets to be a bit more tricky. depending on where you live.
I’ve never seen one before that wasn’t just a single lockable room (one toilet). I didn’t even know the existed but they seem a bit odd and dangerous perhaps. Where is it in the world that they have these?
Everywhere should just use individual washrooms and all be labelled for everyone. Not these group washrooms that separate men and women. Small full washrooms that only one person can use, and is available for everyone.
I'm not in favour of unisex public toilets...
Many women may be uncomfortable with that... Many guys too...
Besides, guys maybe sometimes competing to get to the restroom... And yeah... most of the guys try to hit on ladies... (Irrespective of the place)
So it's better, in my opinion, if there are separate spaces for all...
It's what I have at home. It works.
It's interesting to see that being in a wheelchair is a gender :D
For those advocating more genders (than... three?): I would LOVE to see the symbols representing them.
I've used family washrooms before.
It's for parents with small kids.
There were multiple stalls and it is a bit weird to wash my hands beside some woman who just went to the bathroom, but not really a big deal.
I think parents get it.
It's dangerous to just send your small child into a public washroom alone.
We have some at my university as well as male and female bathrooms. The unisex ones are just a row of small, individual bathrooms, not the typical stalls. They're way more comfortable.
I think there needed and great in certain situations, but me being a girl I would feel a little safe of uncomfortable if a grown man is in there with me.
*unsafe and uncomfortable
I like them. People feel uncomfortable using them, so nobody uses them. That means they are typically super clean and quiet, that’s why I always go for unisex in case I can.
Haha yeah the standard toilets at uni are usually occupied so I learned to appreciate that aspect of unisex toilets
I think it's fine for a store or restaurant, but not for concerts or sporting events. The reason for this is because of the sheer volume of people. You're far more likely to have a bad person when there's 20,000 people than if you have 100. And the vast majority of people in line for the restroom are going to use it for it's intended purpose, and not for nefarious reasons.
hmmm, now u got me thinking of some way i could utilize these special toilets to where i could somehow get my dick under the toilet seat and get a girl to piss on my dick without her knowing or being aware... hmmmmmmmm... would be very difficult to not get noticed... not sure it would work... hmmmmmmmm...
I am dumbfounded how did this even freaking happen everybody knows what gender they are confused or not our children use these facilities which is another topic altogether not so many years ago America knew who we were now it's like the new right is wrong what the f*** it makes me want to scream
If they have only a unisex or both m/f and unisex then its fine.
The problem is when they take male washrooms and make them unisex and keep the female only washrooms for women. That’s extremely sexist.
I know that entitled female use male washrooms anyways but its super sexist to take our bathroom away because we don’t have rights and shit.
Good idea. It's time people dropped their childish notions of toilet shame.
So Cindy I come whistling in to do my business next to you who so doing her business?
How do you feel? Cause id feel a touch embarrassed tbh I don't know what women think men do in there but 90% of us get our business dome and leave without so much as a howdy do mayyybe a nod or such at most and guy code never. Ever. Ever be im the middle urinal. Ever
I don't really care. I look at it similarly to family bathrooms. We're all there to go in, do our business and leave. And yeah singular family bathrooms are a thing but all too often are they constantly occupied.
I live in southern CA and most of the fast-food restaurants that I go to have unisex restrooms. At first it was odd but then I got used to it. Everything seems to work well and I haven't heard of any complaints.
Could it be that the restroom can only be used by 1 Unisex person at a time?
@Fatherhere901
Yes, the Unisex bathroom can only be used by one person at a time. I wouldn't go into a restroom that allowed the opposite sex in. There's nothing wrong with it - it was just the way I was brought up in society.
That is the reason that Uni-sex restroom worked so well... it was for 1 person at a time. But, that is not the goal trying to be obtained by the "New Age" are striving for. Retail stores are giving everyone 2 restrooms, the public wants them to give them 5. (personal, parental, princesses, and 2 that are actually "gender based")
@Fatherhere901
How can retail stores stay in business? There is an increase in minimal wage. Now they have to use up space for these types of restrooms?
Now your getting the point of the owners of retail stores versus the demands to cater to the beliefs of a minority of their customers
They are fine, but female washrooms would definitely be better.
I'd say one thing though, the unisex bathroom still better have a mirror.
Well unisex bathrooms don't quite sound like a good idea in Bangladesh in the first place 😂
However in some European countries, they do work well, where the genders have mutual respect and where there is real equality.
Take Finland for an example. Unisex toilets are scattered all across their capital and the people use it without problems.
The whole point is to bring together the two genders and make the bathrooms less weird.
I never had any particular issue with unisex bathroom ever. It is a little annoying if the place has too many people, otherwise I've been alright.
The only negative experience I ever had was ironically in a female washroom. I had no idea who dudes were lurking around there. Made me very uncomfortable given that I was there to change back to my normal clothes after I was done with a stage performance wearing specific garments.
I can understand. The gap between the genders is really pronounced at some places. They see each other like they're two different species.
And of course, that would have been a scarring experience.
I guess the westerners (not US ofc) are able to pull it off well in select places because there is mutual respect between the genders.
Of course the pricks may exist, but the norm is to be nice to everyone, so they don't end up doing weird shit.
It is sadly the opposite case of what we have here.
I think its a good idea. Instead of having 2 separate for male and female, why not have 1 which consists of a larger area so that more people can use it at the same time and there's less waiting.
I think the main concern people had was that it would attract predators. Public, shared bathroom for both genders sound like the greatest idea. For a single bathroom, maybe, but things might get awkward with men and women all doing their business together in the same room.
As in a bathroom with multiple stalls, and guys and girls would be at sinks next to each other washing their hands? Hell na
Have you been to a concert or other event and seen a female go into the men's room (they usually get right in) but let a Male go into the females, better have bail money even though buildings usually have more female bathrooms than male.
I'm not for them if they're "open". Individual bathrooms with door locks don't require a sign for gender, just one that says toilet, or washroom, or whatever the term is in that area.
Unisex toilets will never work. Most of the time, at some point, women will claim they're uncomfortable with having men in the same toilets, and ask that they can't enter. In the end, it will be women toilets only.
I can't agree...
I believe it will be a transgender male or a Pan-sexual , who's having a "feminine day" who will be the one complaining they don't "feel comfortable".
I had a couple of them in high school and now I see them everywhere. Once I had to use one because it was the only kind in the building. It's almost no different than sharing a bathroom at home. So I don't have a problem with it
It doesn't inconvenience me, so I don't really care
This is bad because we can't tell who is who when using the restroom which will pose a problem leading to deception and the sexually assault of individuaks as many life's are in danger.
If its a single person toilet sure, but say a restroom with multiple stalls im not ok with it.. Its like an invitation for predators and sickos.
If it's just stalls and nothing else then it shouldn't matter. If they have urinals then I guess the issue would be when it comes to children? I don't know
Honestly, they feel like they’re more efficient. I mean if you just have separate stalls with the standard toilet, I think a second restroom is just an unnecessary expenditure.
It's one of those things I think some would say humanity just isn't (exactly) ready for right now...
Weird. Went to a club one time where the mirror was cut out and you could see the other gender bathroom and interact with them it was funny and interesting but also just weird enough like that so I definently wouldn't like that lol
I know i'll never understand what trans/ non binary people go through but the idea if having a urinal in my bathroom disgusts me. Plus I don't think you guys want to see blood in the toilet when you open the lid...
Don't mind if it's one person per stall type of situation similar to how the disabled bathrooms usually are.
I'm not a fan of public toilets in general. Can't imagine someone who would be, but I'd rather avoid no matter what. I wouldn't at all use a unisex toilet tho unless I really have no choice.
I'm against them. A lot of aggressors will probably take advantage of this and will do creepy things.
Usually fine though I used to work with this odd bitchy lady that would always go to the bathroom after I'd drop a deuce. I swear she was some kind of stank huffing fart goblin.
yay now i can be raped by a guy not trespassing in the wrong bathroom :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD or now guys can watch as a women rapes me :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
No no no no nope nope nope
I'm not peeing when a woman's arpund, it just feels weird.
I think it's fine and I don't see it being an issue
I think they are nice especially as a daughter of a single father. If one of my little sister has to go to the bathroom and I'm not there to take them he has to take them to the mens room. So a unisex bathroom would make things less weird
When I was in high school a lot of kids were having sex in the unisex bathrooms. But overall it's a decent thing but the only downside is that horny couples will be abusing the unisex stalls as a love shack
Nope... Higher chances of infection since both the genders are using. Also multiple come in the same loo.
Infection? 🤔
