Why do so many people call me smart but I’ve never thought this of myself?

I am quite the goof ball and have many “blonde moments” and I’ve tried to cover these things but it’s just my personality and it actually draws people to me because I am genuine. However I have heard from many people that they think I am smart, or nice and I’ve never really thought so. I didn’t do well in school, I didn’t attend college. Do people call me smart and I’ve heard that I have an old soul, I am wise, I do speak well but I’ve never really thought much of the compliments I just go on with my life. But sometimes I do wonder why I don’t see myself that way and others do ( even if they barely have been around me)

We're all our own worst critic. We know ourselves better than anyone else. Our each and every mistake. Other people don't know or forget, because it really doesn't matter. But we hold on. It keeps you humble. I just hope you let yourself enjoy the praise a little, too.

Because smart is subjective. There are book smarts, street smarts, wise cracks, health nuts.. sometimes smart is just a compliment to cover several other good qualities. It doesn’t have to mean you will win on Jeopardy.
