Would that be enough though as I never/rarely go to a church?

This is from my Amazon Kindle reading list:
These are relationship and self-growth improvement books.

These books help you better understand yourself and other people.
They help you understand the psychological aspects of individuals and basic emotional needs that everyone has.
Much appreciated. Thank you :)
I used to turn church weekly but with covid it's been rather hard especially since I live in a hotspot and I have Lupus and my husband is 79 years old so we try to stay in as much as possible.
These books perhaps will make you feel more confident and happier about yourself happy confident people tend to make good choices.
Yes, I agree :)
I meant attend
Sorry typo.
If you can't read all of them I definitely recommend five love languages it's an awesome book
I will definitely look for it :)
I don't like more than half of these. Also Carnegie books were so đ. I tried reading when I was 18 yo and even then, let alone today, I couldn't stand his eternally selfish mentality. Good person shall not try to influence others, but to better understand others, adapt if necessary, be good at genuine hearted diplomacy. It's entirely non ethical to just behave as if you own the entire world and while planet. It's basically manipulational psychology presented as if it's something normal good and ethical.
I read A man for himself, by Erich Fromm, when I was 16. Now that was very purifying for me as a young girl. Also first social psychology expertise book I've read.
I mostly don't like "popular" psychology books. Too often too shallow.
You will crave peen at some point in your life. The Bible sorta says it is a sin for an unmarried female to take penis in her sniz. It also says it is sinful for a gentleman to take a peen in his anus. HOWEVER, it is kinda vague on a female taking a man's swollen tool in her posterior. So I would suggest that the next time you get a craving for an engorged manhood, steer your gentleman's tool towards your buttocks. :)
You mean anal is ok as per bible?
For girls it has always been totally fine. But not for dudes in the era of the the Old Testament. But once Jesus came along, dudes can take peen in the butt because Jesus died for that "sin" so now everyone can do it :)
Ok. Good to know. Somebody told me the opposite that I should stop doing anal.
If we can all eat shellfish then why can't everyone enjoy butt sex?
I guess you're right. Thank you :)
Any sexual actions, even lewd thoughts are considered as sin if you are unmarried. It's the thoughts that matter not just the actions. If you are lusting for someone u are sinning already. That was clearly stated in the bible. You are only permitted to have sex including anal (opposite sex) when u are married to the other person. Outside of marriage that is purely sin.
@Samantha_17
It is disturbing that you picked her opinion as most helpful lol.
@supercutebutt shut up. You are confusing Christians. Not everyone can eat shellfish. The bible say to guard our heart bcoz it is deceitful. Not everything we want and crave are good.
@Primrose21 I respectfully disagree. :)
@samantha_17 No it isn't.
@allison368 It is OK. :)
@Primrose21 : I didn't pick. The APP did..!
My answer was pretty awesome, though.
@supercutebutt Where does the Bible say that?
@allison368 I can't recall. Perhaps it was just a rumor? I don't know anymore. But I still think she should do butt stuff. You only live once. :)
@samantha_17
@supercutebutt
I would like to know chapter and verse about anal, I donât remember reading that part
@Jennz6 I think it was in some of those Dead Sea Scrolls. A lot of the (butt) stuff in there was edited out of the final version of the Bible. But it was still 100% legit! :)
I don't understand what sex has to do with this topic at all đ€·đŒââïž
Girl I had the same struggle and I'm still trying to be better. I'm glad you asked and that you care about growing your relationship with God. The bible has lots of good advice for how we can be as Jesus would call it "His true disciples" (aka Christians) but if you need help with that, you can also listen to sermons from pastors like John Piper. Just be careful because if you don't know the bible well, you can fall into believing in false teachings from false church leaders.
In John 8:31, Jesus says, "31 If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." This is saying to obey what Jesus commands us to do. He said the greatest commandment is to love God Our Father with all our hearts and our neighbour the way that Jesus loved His disciples (John 13:34, 35). When we love God with all our hearts, we will obey Him by obeying ALL the commandments and we WON'T abuse His mercy by repeating the same sins (our frequency of sin should drop significantly). We would be going to the right church every week to worship God, we would read the bible more to learn what God wants from us, and we would pray more to thank God and ask for His will to be done (whether we feel like it or not). Sometimes, we just need to do the actions of faith first before we understand their importance.
Think about it like a romantic relationship: Is it a real relationship with someone if you seldom talk to them? Instead, you just admire them on Instagram or think about them? What if you told your boyfriend, "Hey I thought about you today." Wouldn't he say, "Okay... that's nice but when are we going to see each other again?" But then you go back to only thinking about him once in a while and admiring his Instagram pics. Then, sometimes, when you want something, you ask your boyfriend to get you food. Wouldn't that be weird for him because you rarely see each other and barely know each other? I think most people would not consider that a real relationship. A relationship with God is a similar thing. It's not a real relationship if we only come to God once in a blue moon, think about Him sometimes, or need something.
I would say, read the bible. Schedule a reading at the same time everyday. If you're new, start with the New Testament and it will instruct you on what you should do. If you don't understand it or you're not sure how to study it, pray to God about it. Then make it a habit to wake up every morning, thanking God for all your blessings and His goodness, asking God to help you to repent from your sin, asking God for what you need, and asking God to help you to increase your faith so that you can be a good Christian. I hope that helped. I'll pray for you <3
Thank you. God bless you :)
My views on Christianity and God are not received well in society. It's not that I don't believe in God, I just don't believe in the God that is portrayed or the Bible. In all honesty being told how to be a good person and rewarding it with eternal paradise, which is the ultimate desire, just creates a bunch of selfish people. Maybe that's our actual test in life? Our ultimate free will? Chose to be selfishly good because your scared of hell or choose to believe in your own life and your own God. That we need to listen to ourselves and the energy around us, be selfless because it's how you genuinely are. I don't trust Christians. Anyone being threatened with hell, torture for your entire afterlife, is obviously going to do what they must so they don't end up that way. That's sooo bad and narcissistic. Fear is a powerful tool to control other's. My morals don't include control or manipulation of any kind and I certainly wouldn't want my God to be that way.
Don't be a Christian just because you are scared being good isn't enough. And that right there reminds me of how I felt when I was with a narcissist... what I truly thought was my best, was never good enough. God would not want us to feel that way ever.
Do what YOU believe makes you good. If you believe that God made us all in his image, then trust that what you feel is good is right. He made us all different for a reason and it sure wasn't just for us to be robots of one image.
Thats just my own opinion. And to anyone who is ready to shove the Bible down my throat, I have my own relationship with God.. my views are the correct ones to me.. and I'm not going to hell or heaven, my life is not controlled by fear or the promise of paradise, so words are truly wasted on me.
I liked your views. Thank you :)
The unknown is scary. It always will be in any aspect, even if you did do everything you were supposed to.. it will still be the unknown.. there's no guarantees. You seem like a really good person on your own and I think that's all that matters. Continue being you and live for your yourself not for an unknownđ
I like you and your comments. Thank you :)
Being a Christian isn't about how nice, how wonderful you are to others and yourself. Its all about your faith, and if you trust in the lord and by saying that is if you are willing to share your faith with others around you regardless if they agree or not and willing to know some may get upset with you, and some will be just stop being your friend or just people would tell you to back off in a polite way. The church people go is just a building it has nothing to do with you going to church every Sundays, the church is within you and your faith to the lord, so if you dont go to church just remember that its just a place to be in with others that may believe with your faith and so you would know you are not ever alone by being a Christian, not all Christians are Christians so be wise and know your faith very well if you are going to spread the word of the lord to others. The fruits you plant a seed in, would be blessed by God. Good that you are doing this, and just be yourself. May God's blessings be with you. Hugsxxx
Thank you. God bless you too :)
Samantha, how is it you say that you want to be a better Christian, and then pick someone who uses phrases like âPeen in the snizâ and espoused views that christ died for your sins, therefore you can have all the anal sex you want, as the Most Helpful Answer? After all anal sex is STILL sex! I get that you are struggling with your faith, me too but even I know that Jesus made it MORE strict, when it comes to sex!. Ex âIt was written in old that whoever commits adultery has sinned against the Lord. But I say to you that everyone who so much as looks at a person with lustful intent has already committed adultery with them in their heartâ Matt 5:27-28. Do you really believe that Jesus thought it was a great sin to even THINK about sex with someone, but it is totally fine to have anal sex with them? Sweetie, the Bible spoke far more about âuntouched by manâ than it did about virginity, and Iâm pretty sure that anal sex, requires being âtouched⊠sexuallyâ Biblically speaking, which is what you wanted to know, anal sex is Sodomy, and the penalty for sodomites was death.(meaning separation from God for all eternity) Yes Jesus died to wash our sins clean, but he also made it clear that we are to âGo and sin no moreâ as well as giving us a way to tell if someone was truly repentant and forgiven, âyou can tell a tree by the fruit it bears, a good tree cannot bear bad fruitâŠâ and so on. In other words a âgoodâ Christian will do everything in their power to NOT sin. They most certainly donât do whatever they want and then just say âwhoops sorry Jesus, my bad! Thanks for forgiving meâ. I truly hope you find what you are looking for, but a LOT of good people genuinely tried to help you, one person used double speak, and non-biblical gobbledygook to trick you into believing youâre okay having anal sex. You ignored the others, and made that person the most helpful⊠THATâs what Christ meant by a good tree not bearing bad fruit. Good luck on finding what youâre looking for! 🙂🥰😇
Thanks for your answer but I think anal sex or any kind of sex with your loved one is nothing to be ashamed of.
Wow girl, you definitely need check who someone is before to try throw shade on them. I mean I have HUNDREDS of posts about fucking and suckingâŠThis was different! You were CLEARLY being disingenuous when you asked for help to become a better Christian. As a result you made a LOT of really good people waste their Friday doing things like looking up books for you, when the only book you need is âAss Fuckery and Time Wasting for Beginnersâ The worst part of it, is that In order to say what I want, I have to defend the church, which, after my rape, and the way they treated me, I swore Iâd never do! So⊠đđ»
Thing is, sure am Christian, but I'm not strict at all. I pray rarely, don't go to church. And I feel like the bible just like other books of religion has rights... and wrongs. Like I see one mentions that sex is a No Go, but anal is? How silly is that? A Christian trying to find 'loopholes' doesn't seem right to me, but that's just me you know. People be disliking this opinion for this ;)
All I am after... is the truth. And God knows that. I'm not going to base that on a bible.
But through actions in my own life, try to be a good human being towards others, like you said is in my eyes the Best way to be a good Christian
Also. Don't force your religion upon others, don't hate others for not thinking the same way. So many people don't do this, are disrespectful towards people who don't think alike. And an extreme example of this is terrorism. So much violence that came from religion.
So be the better person and don't force it on people, be open to discussion if someone of a different group or belief reaches out to you, to hear about your religion or for help in general.
I'm not for the old traditions. The homeless person I pass by is happier if I give him half my sandwich than a prayer.
Personally I believe you are already doing so much good things in your life and have made such an impact already. You are doing an amazing job and I think you should continue striving to be that strong, helpful individual because that can really take you to where you want to be. You don't have to go to church unless you really want to. I can't speak for you or decision but I do know you are a very helpful, honest and kind person who believes in the good of things with a pure heart! Just continue being you and your journey will prosper beautifully to that lifestyle or person you want to be! 🤗👍
Thanks for your kind words :)
Your so welcome!đ€
-be humble
-follow the ten commandments of the bible
-help others even if you don't have much to give, a little goes a long way
-always forgive, no matter what, be wise but forgiving, meaning if someone keeps doing -you bad, leave them out of your life but forgive them.
-pray alottt, read your bible, and understand it, praise his name 7 times or more every day, listen to gospels.
-stay away from negativity.
- Always show love to anyone, love over hatred etc.
-always be calm and respectable in any situation.
Thank you :)
I'm atheist so can't help you with Christian-specific suggestions, but I've always believed/known that it doesn't take religion (or the fear of suffering) to make a good person. We atheists also have a moral code.
I don't think it's difficult to know how to be a good person. Sometimes putting it into practice is challenging, yes, but if you can try and be the type of person that you know others search for, then you will have much love around you.
I suppose it comes down to having an open heart, compassion, and listening. Those can take you a long way, and open many doors, and hearts, along the way.
This is such a hard question to answer. I'll start by saying no offense is intended so please don't take it as such 🙃. Okay, so you seem to think that just anyone can become a Christian by saying they are or acting like it. There is no such thing as being "good" enough on your own and however much you try it will all be useless!! Going to church has little relevancy to whether you're a Christian or not, although most Christians do want to go to church to have fellowship. And, yes, the Bible commands no adultery, which includes ALL sex. I know you didn't want a lecture but it just breaks my heart to see some of the answers people gave and the misconceptions they have.
I'm not Christian so I can't tell you what you can do to become a good Christian.
However, I would say that you're following the right direction. I have nothing against religious people nor against Christianity, but I do believe that no one needs religion to be a decent and kind person.
"I'm trying to help people as much as I can and I'm striving to be a good and decent person both in professional and private life." - Yes, for me that's more than enough. Just go to church if you feel that you really need to.
You don't need to go to church. God hears and knows all thoughts, intentions, feelings and events anyway. I didn't have good experiences with priests being opened to help me with my case that much, but my friends for example prayed for me. Church is not a building, church is union of souls that are each other's support community in spiritual and emotional sense. Sad that it's today kinda twisted, a lot priests' egos and general humane shallowness has outshaded purpose of going to attend church Mass liturgy at first place as it seems.
I would like to for example, but right now I don't feel extremely excited about it. As if it wouldn't prosper my energy and faith that much. But I don't know.
You do not have to go to church to live life with high morals and ethics. I do pray, believe in karma and miracles. I read the bible and it's a great book. I've read the Koran, too. I lived in Thailand and studied Buddhism; read The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. I learned how to meditate from monks in Nepal. I have traveled to 21 countries always observing their religion and being respectful of cultural/religious practices for each despite different views. I went to church growing up and decided to be saved and baptized again at age 12. I was baptized Catholic at birth. I'm also educated and love science. Knowledge is power.
Understand that you will make mistakes and sin often. But remember that God allows us to make our own decisions. Something that resonated to me in church last week was âwho are you doing this doing for?â in regard to deciding whether or not to do something. If you would be ashamed for God to see what you are doing then trust your gut and donât do it. However, as selfish human beings, we do choose ourselves most of the time.
Luckily for us, we serve a forgiving Father, but I mess up a lot. A LOT. It is only human to do so. But every day is a new day to strive to make the world a more loving and peaceful place. Do not judge others for what they choose to do, for we all do things worth judging, Godâs judgement is the only that matters.
I don't know. I do follow the Catholic/Christian belief but I am not all that into it. I would just say that to be a good person in general to have peace with yourself is to respect yourself always. You have to be firm with that. Don't let others take you for granted or step all over you. But always remember to share with others. I'm not talking about money donations. I'm talking about volunteering and giving your time to others in need. Spread kindness because genuine kindness is actually a hard thing to come by
1 John states that if you don't have pity on those who are in need the love of the father is not in you. It also states to not forsake the fellowship of believers in Hebrews 13. Helping others is a good start but in order to be the best that you can be you would need to go to church regularly. (I know covid is a thing so don't be stupid about it but go. virtual if you need to).
Also I assume you've already trusted in Jesus?
That's the problem. I have to go to church regularly.
I'm not christian nor do I believe in god but the bible says your body is the temple of the holy spirit so I think you can be a good christian even if you don't go to church. From my experience with my mom I would say don't be a hypocrite (I'm not trying to offend you), if jesus teachings are about love then try to be as good to other people as you wish people were with you. Let your actions talk and not your mouth, as an atheist that's what I think a good christian is
That answer lies within yourself and your personal relationship with God. We can give you all links and personal guidance we can. But in the end it's up to you to find that for yourself. If you're looking for answers I would suggest that you pray for guidance and pay close attention to what you think and feel. Be open to the possibilities and accept that the answer your looking for may not be easy. Focus on what you feel is right and not what you want to hear, and at the end of it I promise that you will find the peace your looking for.
As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. I have had to go through this process hundreds of times and where it can be difficult I promise it I always worth it.
Learn to love yourself. You do not need self help books. Just love yourself, be positive, show love those around you, work on attracting a positive atmosphere at home and in your heart. Enjoy life. Love life. Be kind and genuine to others. You don't need church or a book to tell you that. See the world with a fresh pair of eyes. Instead of seeing the negatives, see it in a positive new light. Love and light. â€
Good words. Thanks :)
hi you will not be Saved by going to Church, be careful with people who pretend to be Christians.
To be a Christian:
Read The Holy Bible and follow what THE LORD JESUS CHRIST Said always. Follow His Commandments, and His Laws in the New and Old Testament, go and read what HE Said in Matthew 5 about The Law and in other Books on The New Testament. Remember HIS WORDS HIS WILL.
wish you the best
Oh, man, wrong person to invite to your question.
I'm staunchly agnostic and very much not a fan of most organized religion. Definitely not a fan of most Christian denomenations.
To me, being a "good Christian" just means be a good human. Be kind, be compassionate, be ethical, etc.
I'd recommend reading from other religions.
Nothing like context and a bigger perspective to keep you honest.
I agree
My beliefs about the ultimate nature of reality are rather complicated. I don't see myself as being a Christian, although I have to admit that many of my views, on a range of topics, could easily be seen that way (ex. I'm opposed to abortion under all circumstances except the most exceptional ones, and do not believe in a random, purposeless universe).
Sorry, can't help you. I was going to say "The Bible", but that's too obvious! :D
The Bible (like any organized religion) is an insult to humanity. It was originally designed by men to control and unify people, so the monarchs of the time would be taken seriously. Not to mention itâs a plagiarism of several other ancient mythological deityâs.
Nowadays people who are devout Christians are typically weak people with a superstitious insurance plan for the afterlife, based on a bronze-age blood sacrifice ritual.
You don't have to convert people to help them. Just do good deeds regardless of how the people you help receive them. If anyone, even a priest or a pastor or whatever says that the only way to truly help people is to "save them" by bringing them to Jesus, ignore that. If someone wants become Christian they will.
i'm an atheist but i'd say to be a good christian you should just continue trying to be a good person & to help people, and maybe try to find more time to pray & get in touch with your spiritual side more often. connect more with christian people, to keep yuou more in check and maybe read a bit of the bible everyday. that type of thing. don't become to fixated on it though, your whole life shouldn't be just that
Well, let's say if a christian tells you it's not good the way you are or what you are doing, they are a bad christian because they are judging - and a christian should not judge others.
You see, the good christians is not that good - they tend to bend everything so it suits their agenda. Faith here and faith there, nowhere in the book it says you have to attend church to be a christian, or have this or that level of faith.
You are a christian as much as you wish yourself.
Im no expert in christian living but do know you can easily be a good person without church by simply following the golden rule (treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself) but to be a good "christian" being versed in the ways of the bible and regular attendance to church seem to be more expected.
I'm not religious, tho I was brought up in a christian household, and we have different dealings than most christian americans, I seem to have found. But the views that I'm told is to be good, help others and treat other people right etc, basically the whole 10 commandments stuff.
Iâm a Christian and I rarely go to church because Iâm so busy, but anything you do in the name of god is good. Just make sure you pray often, talk about his glory to people, and talk to him. Let him know you may not physically be in his home but you r there and he is in his your heart.
I am not a Christian. But i gotta lot of Christian friends and have lived in a hostel controlled by nuns. My best friend is and when she's with her family, she goes to church weekly otherwise she goes only on special occasions. She reads the bible every night before bed. I have heard of stories from the nuns too. I think being a person is more than enough.
Yes, it is enough. You don't NEED to attend church to be religious. The plus of attending a church is creating a network of people who can help support you through hard times. I feel like we've traded community for luxury. Community is very important, especially for women. We need each other, we need to break through the invisible barrier and help one another. A church group may be a good place to create these bonds.
