Babbit was a veteran, and was vocal about her political opinions online. Some of the things she posted:

She was a patriot who was also being an idiot, what she did was stupid why she was doing it was patriotic, she should've thought about what would happen if you went on private government property. What she was doing she thought was best for America even though her beliefs were wrong, and that is why she is a patriot, not because she wanted to vote for trump but because she was trying to improve the US based on what she thought was right, there are some non-patriotic trump supporters out there though, I was at this party and talking with an adult about the election, he said that there is voter fraud in all the states, and I said "we don't really know that for sure, it is possible but it is not we know for sure that happened" then he kinda grabbed my shoulder and squeezed it really hard and said "we shouldn't be arguing for the other side" and I was like but I'm just saying the truth, anyway some people out there believe in what is wrong but try to do what is right and that makes them patriotic some people are the opposite and some just do it all wrong. If we want America to continue as a country that trumps all others we need to find a middle ground and stop fighting with each other over things. it'd also be nice if BLM could stop burning down buildings.
Neither.
She was a brainwashed fool.
Traitor. Patriots don’t storm the capitol building to halt a democratic process outlined in the constitution, because they didn’t like an election result.
Also need I remind you, as she was a airforce vet, she betrayed her oath.
Don’t want to die? Don’t storm a building with armed federal guards.
Oh wow, I didn’t read about her betraying her oath.
But yeah, they told her a few times to stand back and she didn’t listen. It sucks that she died because of it, but she should have complied.
All soldiers, regardless of branch, pledge an oath to defend the constitution and the country they serve. She betrayed that and actively went against it.
Agreed. But you get what you get. I’m just surprised the national guard didn’t just say fuck it and kill them all. Bummed about that but oh well.
She may have been upholding her oath by trying to stop a corrupt Congress. I don’t believe the election was rigged but I could see a day where many rise up to defend the Donstitution against those in power... just because they are in power does not make them faithful. You may not agree with that but tens of millions do.
Well since I'm not American I feel that I can't say whether if she was a traitor or a patriot.
What I do know is that she should have listened to the police. She was completely blind and out of her mind.
She disrespected Kamala Harris and she died for a clown who doesn't care about her. That's really sad.

Looks like she didn’t have common ash sense after all.
😂 😂
I'm tired of the double standard in this country, this question was never asked when BLM and Antifa were burning down our cities and looting, the same politicians that are accusing her of being a traitor and saying she should have complied, are the very same people who were promoting a fund to pay legal costs and bail for the people burning down our cities and looting.
I personally believe she was wrong for doing what she did, but I also said that all the others in the summer that had criminal records and were killed when resisting arrest were wrong also.
But when people shout police brutality when a felon and those with criminal records are shot by police even when some of them took weapons from police and in this instance a veteran was killed by police and say that she somehow deserved it because of her actions are the exact example of hypocrisy.
If you are honest it's not a race issue to whether you are defended or attacked by people because of your actions it is because of your political views.
This case being a prime example.
She is a traitor and a terrorist. She was commiting an act of sedition and she was shot in the face by an officer who was protecting a room full of people. This room was barracaded and all the protestors were trying to break into it with sticks and melee weapons. It is not a surprise that a cop shot her as she started climbing over the barracade. Also, I don't think true conservatives should be praising her. When did anarchism become a conservative ideal? Those rioters were not true conservatives.
They were true Trump supporters
in my opinion she was a misguided woman - deliberately misled by selfish people who didn't consider or care that others could be hurt by their actions.
I think this ties into a larger story about Trump and his GOP sycophants - practically the entire GOP at this point:
The COVID-19 pandemic, which is killing thousands of Americans daily, hardly seems to register with them. They don't seem to give a f... about it. They have not made citizens safer - on the contrary, they have deliberately sabotaged such efforts.
They have embraced immorality and have for a while seemed giddy about joining the dark side. This is not how I expect adults to behave. It goes against most wisdom in most cultures.
And their smirking immorality honestly reminds me of the Nazis. The thrill of hurting others.
Strange times.
She was a victim. A victim of politicians and conspiracy theorists who used her rage and ignorance to storm the capitol to overturn an election that they had lost.
And the thing is, there was no way it was ever going to happen.
She died for no reason at all.
@RolandCuthbert Well said Roland.
Obviously not a traitor/ she was an Air Force veteran.
When riots didn’t affect the political elite but instead only ordinary people they don’t care about, the politicians cheered them. When they can to the Capitol Building, all of a sudden they’re bad and the rioters are “traitors”- never mind that most of the politicians have repeatedly done things to sell out our country to foreigners.
The riot in the Capitol was bad and a crime, but that building is no more holy than any that was damaged by Antifa and BLM last year. It’s only when the political elite got a taste of the chaos they’ve unleashed on ordinary people that it became a problem and “traitorous”.
The politicians are hypocrites and at least some of them are traitors. That doesn’t excuse any riots at all, no matter who does them, for what cause, or where they occur.
Incidentally, witnesses have stated that Babbitt and others were not in fact told to stay back by pthe Capitol police. While it's definitely not easy to make quick judgement calls in fast-moving or unexpected situations, her family and the general public need to know the results of the investigation into her shooting, and there needed to be a thorough one (I'm not assuming there wasn't, just saying there needed to be).
She decided to ignore the rulings of the judicial branch, the legal certification of votes by states and generally the constitutional process of elections was not good enough.
Why? Because her favourite candidate lost. So how did she respond? By attacking democracy, attacking people’s constitutional rights and attacking the core institutions in the nation.
Fuck her, she’s a traitor.
What she is is basically an enemy of democracy.
Well, if you barge in the Capitol, which you know is highly protected, and pose a potentially lethal risk to elected officials carrying out their constitutional duty, police is going to try to stop you. That can obviously involve weapons. It’s not like she was shot while just strolling around.
Again, she’s just an enemy of democracy who put herself in a place where she could have expected to be shot, given the potential risks of police doing too little (i. e. dead Senators + members of Congress).
Could police have shot her in the arms instead of neck? I don’t know, perhaps. I guess that may have been an option.
Either way, should have expected to be shot and she’s an enemy of democracy.
Totally sick of seing people focus on this woman because she's the relatively hot white girl. She broke into somewhere she shouldn't have been, took part in a violent protest and paid the cost of that. Its her own fault and it shouldn't be celebrated.
We should be focusing on the cop who gave his life trying to protect Congress instead. He's the only one who didn't deserve what he got, the real hero here.
As a white girl, she is not that hot
She's not hot at all.
@RohitLakra They literally declared war on their country and King. ... wow
Sweetheart, do you even know the context of what happened few days ago and what few centuries ago? Anyway, I love you too!!
Neither. I'd like to know what lead to the shot being fired...
I know people whose minds work like this and I distance from them. This is extreme thinking and flawed. What she was... out of control emotionally, breaking and entering, apparently not abiding by the law enforcement officers directions, and who knows what leading to the shot fired. As military person, she know better. I wonder if she was on drugs... and what kind.
If she was cowering and backing up I'd say wrongfully killed. I doubt she was cowering though.
It's sad... hope she didn't leave orphans.
She's neither traitor or patriot. She was a sadly misguided, misinformed individual who was lied to and believed it. She believed the Dems had somehow rigged the election and accepted Trump's lies as truth, or saw bogus "evidence" and believed that, or both. Her death was unnecessary and unfortunate. And what will those she leaves behind say in the future? I don't know. All I DO know, is how very sad the whole thing is.
Good answer.
Think about it: Area 51, a Top Secret Research Facility located in Nevada, is one of the few places in America to have the Authority to use Deadly force against trespassers. The Capitol building... The very Center of Presidential Business, most definitely has such Authority as well. Anyone FOOLISH enough to storm such an important Location will be eliminated to protect those within the Establishment.
With another important note: She was warned, and did not obey orders.
Closing statement: Ashli Babbitt, former Military Individual, was a Traitor.
She was one of many that trump manipulated and it's a shame she died this way. It's so obvious that Trump is no good he doesn't care about anyone but himself and he's played on the fact that so many Americans have been let down or treated unfair by our government or maybe looking for something or someone to blame. So he worked on this and manipulated the dissolutioned. He came in acting like the answer when he's really the problem. I don't think anybody should call any of the people that were involved a traitor or a hero without knowing their heart. I don't agree with what happened and I definitely do not support Trump. I just see this as a sad day in America
Clearly a brainashed moron. Was she even bright enough to recognize her actions constituted trying to overthrow the government? Don't really know and frankly, don't really care.
I feel zero symoathy for her. As so many right wingers on this board constantly reminded BLM protestors over the summer "If you simply obey the instruuctions of law enforcement, you won't get shot." She didn't and put sitting members of Congress at risk. So bye bye.
@jakerson181 I feel the same way about George Floyd.
@KrakenAttackin You obviously have me confused with someone who cares what you think about anything.
I'm not an American to say if she's a traitor or patriot but i fetl sad for her passing away, cause i believe that whoever killed her should be punished, you don't have the right to end a person's life! PERIOD!
They left her husband without a wife and her kids without a mother, she's only 35!
People have different opinions about politics and other stuff but no one and nothing deserves to die for!
They could of stopped her anyway and kept her heart beating so she lives but they chose to end her life!
Using a bullet means they wanted to end lives...
May she R. I. P wether she's right or wrong, she didn't deserve to die...
Patriot if you ask me, she fought for our country and what does she get in return? Shot and killed in cold blood. Oh but criminals like George Floyd get national attention and praise by blm, social media and our politicians both republican and democrat. Seriously our country is messed up!! Say her name Ashli Babbit!!
Yeah your gonna stoop that low says a lot about your character.
Thats very civil of you, like I said, that shows a lot of your character, oh and I'm the problem with this country? Listen to yourself, clearly you are the problem with whats going on.
No prob, either way I wish you good health and I'll pray for your safety.
Traitor. Anytime you storm any government property and try to stop democracy that’s being a traitor. You’re going against what this country stood for. That’s what terrorists do. She lost her life for what? Nothing at all. What they did Wednesday didn’t change a freaking thing. I’m glad they’re losing their jobs and some have been arrested. It’s what they get.
So if people break into Area 51 that is being a traitor?
@JuliaStyles @Jersey2 Don’t even give me that crap. What she did and those people did were not right and you two know it. They were trying to stop an election from being certified. You’re going against democracy which I thought was one of the key principles of America. Going against the country in any way is treason. Do y’all need a definition on what treason means? 🤔
If anything she should have stayed home. She sure didn't accomplish much besides showing that the Capitol is protected by guns and you don't invade the Capitol without a response. Instead of a movie called Whitehouse Down it is Capitol Intruder Down.
A human being who unfortanutely died for nothing is what I call her.
Like damn, she could be at home right now with her family, but noppeeeee.
Just had to go out to the Capitol, now she's dead and won't even come back.
All things she believed in andfought for doesn't even matter to her anymore, because she's dead.
She was not a traitor as much as a good old idiot. One can be a little more forgiving to those not intelligent enough to understand the difference between right and wrong, especially as she's dead.
The real traitors are still in the White House and Congress.
She was neither. She was simply a naive woman who thought she can get away with terrorism and trespassing. Like you said, she was told repeatedly to stand back to which she did not comply.
Like they say:
“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
What a loss of life.
she's a veteran... so i think it's tragic and that she was a patriot. cause i'm 100% sure as a veteran, you want the best for your country. and if you try to do the best, you can't be a traitor, even if you wind up doing the wrong thing.
however honestly i don't know what the fuck those people storming the capitol were thinking. it should have been obvious that this leads to nothing.
@Catphishi don't know what you're talking about. A protest is not an act of war.
I’m arguing with your statement that all veterans act in good faith for the good of the government. This is simply not true and is shown by the war criminals that were recently pardoned. Just because someone serves our country doesn’t mean they aren’t evil or have evil intentions.
As for these “protestors” they should’ve stayed outside where they belonged. They were trespassing illegally and suffered the consequences.
@Catphish well she wasn't charged with war crimes was she?
That is no way for a Veteran to act in the United States, So my cousin is a Veteran and he likes Donald Trump would I approve of him to riot inside the Capitol just cause Joe Biden's electoral votes were being validated and make him official the next US President of the United States nope I would not support him to do that type of
kind of action, so what's good for the goose is good for the gander?
Asking the wrong question - The better question is why lethal force was deemed necessary. The federal agent could have easily fired a warning shot and had the same effect, but to shoot to kill and unarmed lady; even if she was forcing entry is messed up.
This isn’t Reddit haha
No I'm talking about Trump/Gulliani. I believe that the only reason he has not been arrested yet is so that Mike Pence cannot pardon the two of them. Once Biden is in charge they will be dealt with.
The secret service and police have the right to use lethal force, look at the cops who murdered George Floyd and Breanna Taylor - they got off.
Ok she was maybe an idiot.
But the person who killed her is stupid. Because killing her didn't seem to be useful did it!
In crowds, we tend to deviate from our normal behaviour. If you've been in a ball game for example or even a party. We tend to have more audacity than normal. We go ape shit. So that was her motive to jump in. And in the same time, the motive of the stupid person who killed her 😢.
Let's be clear: The one person killed was an UNARMED WOMAN who was a 14 year veteran of the U. S. Air Force who had served three tours in Iraq. WHY WAS SHE SHOT? Had this been a BLM "protest" and an unarmed cockroach had been shot, cities across the U. S. would be burning.
@Year3000 Wow, you diagnosed her form your living room chair, you should receive the Nobel Prize for Psychology **sarcasm**.
@Year3000 I am a veteran and NO I don't think it's a joke. She was not mentally ill, she was just pissed at her government, and her government killed her.
@Year3000 So, every BLM protestor is mentally ill in your book? I have to agree with you there.
You wanna know something ironic? Are you a Black Lives Matter person? Well, how about I pull up George Floyd's records and show you how he once robbed a pregnant woman at gun point while holding a gun to her belly?
What about I bring up Jacob Blake's record when he forcefully inserted his fingers inside of his ex girlfriend's vagina to smell it to see if she was cheating or not?
I'm no trump supporter by a far mile but dont you think what they did is kind of a little bit worse than writing a few childish tweets?
No Google I’m not a “blm” person but I consider myself a liberal.
Yeah, they did bad things, but in the moments of their death, those things didn’t matter and they didn’t deserve to die in that moment.
George Floyd didn’t resist arrest and was killed brutally.
However, with Ashli, she was told to stand back but she repeatedly ignored their orders, and it lead to her death. She would still be alive today if she had listened.
I’m not arguing with you I am replying as civilly as I can.
Did you watch the body cam footage of George Floyd? He was so high at the time of his arrest and he also threw himself out of the police car when police put him inside of it.
That still did not justify the cop crushing his neck.
What happened to "she would still be alive if she complied?" You see color and it's pretty gross honestly. I would get behind everyone and say, yeah she put others in danger by behaving stupid but at the same time, I won't sound hypocritical or contradicting by saying "George Floyd didn't deserve to die." When in reality, both of these people are actually kind of stupid.
Bro what? The situations are completely different tho. If they were reversed I’d be saying the same thing. The difference is, George Floyd did not try and break into a government building during a democratic process. They were getting him over a forged 20 dollar bill which is far less severe.
I’m not saying she should have died at all, it sucks that she did, she should have stopped trying to climb the window.
Yeah but once again, where is that argument? "She would still be alive if she complied?" Because had George Floyd not thrown himself out of the police car, he would technically still be alive. Also, I feel like honest reason you are sharing this is because she is white. The reason you are defending George Floyd is because he is black when in reality, George Floyd was a terrible person. I wouldn't label anyone good for pointing a gun at a pregnant woman's belly.
Yeah but I have no remorse for people that hurt women. I'm sorry.
I’m white dude. Lol. Did you think I was black? I’m not. I’m literally white.
Also, people say “she/he should have complied” to people of color all the time. But when it’s to a white person, it’s suddenly invalid?
You cannot compare an act of treason to a forged 20 dollar bill.
I understand though. I can’t stand people who hurt women either. However, them hurting women did not have anything to do with them dying.
I'm just saying I can't bring myself to care about a person (any color) when they hurt females to a point of almost rape. I would consider forcefully inserting your fingers into a vagina rape. Wouldn't you? Jacob Blake did that. I honestly wouldn't be able to care no matter how hard I tried if something bad happened to them which it did.
Also "I'm white dude." That doesn't surprise me one bit. The most racial people I have ever come across have been white females by a mile. Don't ask me for stories.
How would you feel about a white guy pointing a gun to your pregnant belly? Then find out he died by police brutality? It's pretty sad I have to mention he's White to you so you can see the idea I'm trying to get across to you. People who do bad things shouldn't be surprised when bad things come to them.
You see. You might think it's no big deal to point a gun there to a pregnant woman but it is huge. It will scare you beyond belief. Beyond your worst nightmares.
I don’t consider myself radical, Google. I’m just giving my opinion. I understand why you’d be mad about that though. But I’m trying to get you to understand that their harm against women isn’t the reason they had the police on them. It was something completely different.
Sadly, I feel like I understand more than you do and I'm a guy. Pointing a gun to pregnant woman's belly and you die in an unfair way. I'm sorry but I don't feel bad for that person regardless of your skin color.
Situation is complicated. But I feel like you’re misunderstanding me. Him pointing a gun to a pregnant woman me belly is awful, disgusting, but, it had nothing to do with how he died, and, the cop had no idea he did that when he was crushing his neck. It was completely irrelevant to the events leading up to his death.
Pretend George Floyd is a white guy so you understand when I truthfully say "I have no remorse or sorrow if you hurt any female psychologically like that."
I didn’t say that I had remorse or sorrow either, I was replying to you in a logical standpoint. Also, if he were white, I’d be saying the same thing.
What happened to Floyd was completely unjustified and it was second degree murder. I've heard from a source that Floyd was sleeping with the officer's mother, which is potentially a motive for murder (not saying that's okay, that's absolutely insane and a proper response would be to just chat and move on) however I'm unsure if a 1st degree murder charge will hold in court, I think they'll get him for second degree though and I sure hope that they do because what happened was no accident.
She stormed the capital. If a BLM supporter had done that, they would be called a terrorist immediately. But because she's conservative and a woman and white, we have this debate over if she was a patriot or traitor.
I mean i am all for protest but she and the others were just dumb. Protesting is good but rioting bad
She was dumb. Had it would of been a BLM protest they wouldn’t have made it in the building without getting shot period. That’s shows white privilege at its finest. Trump their racist leader lost the election because more people voted for Biden. You can’t just storm a federal building and rush a federal agent and expect nothing to happen. We have laws in place for a reason.
I mis-voted.
I don't think she was patriot.
We should not speak ill of dead. So I am not gonna chose option one as well. She was a misguided soul, betrayed by those she thought were her well-wishers.
Trump is solely responsible for her death. He should be held responsible.
She was a traitor but she no doubt died believing she was a patriot. Because she believed the lies of the alt-right media. She was a programmed Q-Anon drone.
And she was murdered by Donald Trump.
Neither. She was trespassing, but she didn't deserve to die. Neither did the Capitol building police officer who was just doing his job. Zero winners in this scenario. Sad all around.
Stupid games when stupid prize he came there with a mob to destroy and kill.
If she wanted to protest sand out side with a sign.
Win.
Everyone who broke into the Capitol building is a traitor and guilty. of treason. I don't carevth as t shevwas shot. Everyone who broke in who wasn't shot should consider themselves lucky. She got exactly what she deserved. Even if she hadn't posted what she did, I would still feel the same.
@KrakenAttackin She also committed treason and was part if an attempted coup.
Had this been a coup attempt the demonstrators would have showed up armed and used deadly force.
It makes me laugh when the left talks about "Treason", as the left commits three acts of Treason before drinking their morning coffee.
@KrakenAttackin a coup. is not inherently violent. It is an attempt to overthrow the government.
@KrakenAttackin I was just telling you that a coup can be bloodless
Look I'm not saying that she deserved to die or that I am happy about it but... What the hell did she expect? For me she is a traitor and an idiot.
Reading her asinine Twitter post, she sounds like a parody of a Trumptard. What an embarrassing way to die, fighting for lies told by a fucking, narcissistic clown. Rot in Hell, Ashli :)
She was a patriot, once upon a time. A woman who believed in her country. Unfortunately that same woman was brainwashed by her shitty president and corrupt media into believing lies and those lies led to her becoming a traitor.
considering she was an air force veteran , she damn well knew better, obviously she learned nothing in the military. i am sorry that she died, over a man that didn't give a damn about her. but she had to have known about breaching white house security. Trump has literally brainwashed his followers.
She put her life on the line in the military. She believed in freedom she was a hero. She got killed because of others who chose to instigate this and that cop who killed her should be charged with murder those cops let her lay there and die and did not help her.
If you're going to run into an area full of nervous armed Americans, you've got to expect things like this will happen.
She was doing what she thought was right and didn't have violent intentions.
Traitor, patriot, doesn't matter really. It's just a really sad situation that shouldn't have happened.
From what little I know, it seems she went to DC looking to cause trouble and found herself on the receiving end. I'll keep an open mind as more information comes forward.
She was a traitor, plain and simple. I don't care if you're a Trump supporter or a Biden supporter, breaking into Capitol Hill is an act of terrorism. And I wouldn't have sympathy for Babbitt if she was a member of ISIS, so it's fair.
Irregardless of politics, she shouldn't have been shot
Those in charge of security have no idea what her intentions were, she could have had a bomb on her or intent to kill unfortunately they didn't have less lethal means to crowd control
You are right apparently they didn't expect violence and just free speech protests 🙄 huge failure and lots of people resigning
@mslivy well said, she could of been stopped easily without the need of killing her...
God gave her life and only god takes it away, NOT US!
I dunno tbf because I’m not American and I just don’t understand these yanks tbh
I don’t know enough about American politics to give a fully informed opinion, but what I do see from the outside is that trump is not fit to run a country and people who follow him probably have some strange ideals to do so.
If people are so easily incited into violence something tells me there is some thing off with them somewhere.
If you wanted to die for freaking Trump, you have to be one of the dumbest people ever!!!
That bitch was 100% a traitor, a terrorist and a dumbass
I love that her Twitter handle has common sense in it but she had an IQ of a rock lol
I think that this is despicable, what you just said, and I am not even American! A person is dead, show a bit of human decency and respect the dead!
@ASbutProud1998 If she was smart, she should have stay home and still be alive
Good thing I listen to both sides of the spectrum and argument. I am neither far left or right as they are the worst. Antifa, and similar groups, I'm looking at them. But still, show respect for the dead!
I mean the police were letting rioters in through the fences so she must’ve been doin fm something wrong to tick them off and get killed.
A traitor. She knew what she was doing was wrong and the risk of breaking into an area with armed guards
We’re making fun of conservative and republicans by mirroring their responses lmfaoo 😂😂
Hahahaha
Not a patriot, nor a hero but a dumbass.
Darwin award winner
Just like George Floyd?
Tbh as someone who's not American I can say,
Donald Trump is traitor to your country.
how about we don't politicize human beings' lives and just respect the dead.
This is the correct answer
She was somewhere she not have been. High security area, and told to leave.
She did not possibly moved forward. So security staff shot her.
For all they knew she was a suicide bomber..
I see both sides, but I would call her more of a patriot. She and many others were trying to make their voices heard about discrepancies in the election, but certain people escalated it beyond where it should have been.
Hard to say because the people Are the country, not the government. It's the governments job to bring the people/ country together.
I don't know because it's impossible to know what her intentions are.
Break the law, face the consequences.. no sympathy from me.
Play with fire, you get burned.
I think she was doing what she thought was right I'm not going toLabel her a traitor
If there is a God out there, bless her for her bravery! She died exercising her American right to protest.
