Why do we continue to punish Cuba for something that happened 60 years ago? JFK is dead, LBJ is dead, Fidel Castro is dead, his brother is no longer in power. All the political leaders on both sides are dead. USSR is now Russia. The Cuban people are "real" Catholics that don't use abortion , unlike US and China. China which we do 90% of our business with. China which are Communists.
If we traded with Cuba , we could lower candy prices by 50% since sugar would be so much cheaper. Cuban Cigars could be sold at shops. Cuba also has the best car mechanics in the world. There are more positives than negatives trading with Cuba. Cuba used to be the Las Vegas of the Caribbeans. Cuba has probably the best fishing spots.

Again, for the retarded people (mostly the males) We punish Cuba by not allowing tourists from US visit Cuba. It is still Illegal and you can do prison time. Americans are not allowed to buy Cuban Cigars , you can be fined and go to Prison. That means Cuba loses money. Anyone that can't understand this is an idiot.

The only real issue is that it would destroy the sugarcane industry in Louisiana, which is a big cash crop. We could respond to that easily by simply legalizing Marijuana though to become a legal cash crop that produces more income with less processing.
It isn't tough to get to Cuba, just take a boat from Miami and hop the islands to avoid the coast guard, wham bam, you're in Cuba. They're just people trying to get by and survive the same as any other country. Hell, they're more stable than America right now.
Last time they let people out of Cuba to come to the US Cuba pulled a fast one on us and dumped all their criminals and dissidents on us. Do we really need more crime over here from Cuba? We got enough coming from South America that Biden is welcoming with open arms.
Do you know why the people on central Latin America are leaving their countries in the first place? 1. USA intervention throughout history (drowning developing countries in Latin America into debt to make them economically dependent on the USA, coups, etc). 2. USA military supplies drug cartels with guns of war, citizens buy guns from local shops and sells them over the border for profit. This causes gang/gun violence in thier communities so they have to escape them. The majority of thier illegal guns come from the USA in a similar way that the majority of our illegal drugs come from Latin America. You never hear about this because Hispanics are not cry babies and we don’t have a voice in the United States. This is a mostly white/black nation.
If we normalize relations , they will have more money to stay home. Chinese are here and they are communists. We do business with China and they don't allow religion, kill babies, eat dogs, and skin cats for their fur. Yet punish God fearing Cubans. If You ever go to Cuba you would love it. It is like California but they actually believe there is a God.
@Daniela1982 what’s your argument? Because I just said a lot of the violence in their countries is due to the United States’ need for a supply of drugs. We have a nation full of drug addicts. We supply the drug cartels with guns.
@LostYahooAnswersUser I call baloney. Where is the proof that the US is supplying guns? Now citizens may be a different thing. I knew someone who owned a gun store and was told that Mexicans come in to buy guns all the time with cash and it was suspected that they were being smuggled into Mexico.
@LostYahooAnswersUser As I said, Mexican buyers for the cartels buy guns legally and then smuggle them into Mexico. This is not new news. They do catch a lot of them, but obviously a lot also get through. These buyers also supply the California gangs with guns too.

It's funny how people are up in arms about mass shootings when the US itself supplies weapons to certain countries to use in genocides and other killings. The Russians and Chinese were also guilty of sending AK-47's all over the Earth.
My main argument is a lot of thier problems (majority of their illegal guns come from USA) are caused by the United States in a similar fashion that a lot of our problems are caused by Latin America ( most illegal drugs come from Latin America).
@LostYahooAnswersUser A citizen can buy automatic weapons like a machine gun. But they have to pass an extensive background check and pay a government transfer fee. They are also tightly regulated about when they transport one or fire one. They have to get a permit before they can do so.

i thought all of the cubans were in florida? the property in cuba is still quite high for an abandoned place. they also get a lot of hurricanes so that might be why?

Castro may be gone, but his regime is still in power. We have to be careful not to do anything that props up that pathetic regime. Other than that, I have no problem with normalizing relations. There's just one problem: the Cubans that live in Florida are EXTREMELY hostile to the Cuban government.
This is about the Gulf of Mexico, which is kind of the Gulf of the USA... the government has never ever wanted others (Europeans, Asians) so close.. so that's why "Cuba is Cuba"
Both the US and the Cuba governments have had a benefit out of this, it is mutual and nothing else.
I'm not an American (from the united states) so I won't give my opinion on that. But, I never really thought of Cuba as a real "catholic" countryI thought their main religion was santería. At least that was what I had read once.
We're not punishing Cuba for anything. We supported one dictator who staged two separate coups to gain power, and he got overthrown by another dictator. As expected, your premise is typical of US Foreign policy, which has pretty much always been " how can we exploit nation X and get what we want".
The people of Cuba who had their land and homes seized, many of whom ended up in Miami and Florida, are the ones you should ask about "forgiveness". Much like Native Americans, they want their land back. But who knows if they'd want to live in Cuba now anyway. I know one thing for sure - Cuba doesn't want to return to the days of decadence when the USA had their fingers up their butts.

Fidel came to US first and IKE told him to go fly a Kite. Ike knew he was playing both sides. So Castro went with USSR. He gave them cigars and sugar , they gave him weapons.
The issue is not what happened 60 years ago, but what is still happening right now. Cuba is a communist country, with very little freedom. And Cuba has deliberately harmed out diplomatic personnel recently.
I grew up reading history, long before high school and college. It was an early passion of mine. What I learned in college about history, is miniscule compared to what I have learned elsewhere. Because my opinion doesn't agree with yours, doesn't mean lack of knowledge or understanding on my part, but simply a different opinion, gathered from facts.
Obviously, you don't want to deal with current facts about Cuba. it's still a communist totalitarian country. That is current, not 60 years ago. If we want to increase commerce with Cuba, then it will happen. But let there be no mistake. They are run by a brutal regime that breaches no dissent.
Cuba needs the US to leave it alone. Cuba doesn't need the US. The US is upset that another country refilled to let US corporations exploit their national resources and let them do whatever they want. Just like with Syria.
