I am for it. As a healthcare provider, I am fucking sick and tired of insurance companies "practicing medicine". These companies add ZERO value and instead provide a serious risk to me (malpractice) and my patients (death), all to make their obscene profits.
I am also sick and fucking tired of conservatives bitching and whining about costs while ignoring the 57% of our tax money that goes to fund Death in the form of the military budget of this country.
I'm for it. In Switzerland we don't have a universal healthcare system but the way the system works is kind of the same. Everybody has to have healthcare and the insurance companies are strictly regulated they can't charge that much and anyone who can't afford it will get their healthcare paid by welfare or unemployment etc. So nobody ever has no coverage. So it's pretty much the same thing but just more complicated. But the system works well.
I'm for it because it's your right as a member of this planet. HOWEVER, it's not as simple as that. You also have the right to an honest education, where you learn truth and not fiction. And as part of that, you are taught HOW to best take care of yourself in a healthy manner. Hopefully you see where this is all going.
The current "western" method of dealing with illness is to manage symptoms, not prevent the root causes of disease and illness. This is because healthcare, like everything else, is a profit center. If you build a "universal model" around this premise, it too will ultimately fail.
So to answer your question, yes, I'm totally FOR it, but healthcare does NOT simply mean "getting everyone insured" and leaving the whole bullshit system in place.
There is proof positive that preventive care is cheaper over the lifetime of a person than ER visits and disease management. I'm in favor of universal Healthcare for those that exercise preventive care. Some networks like Kaiser already use a modified version of this model successfully. As some other people said, there is an economic component - but they are wrong about the Boomer "we created the best of everything" mentality.
I'm not opposed to it in theory, but I have yet to hear a plan for it that would actually work here in the US- we're not operating in a vacuum, here. And while I ordinarily wouldn't mind trying something that MIGHT work, and revising it if need be, in this case the ripple effects could push us towards another world war.
Well if a homeless person needs medical attention hospitals will offer help or even a free room until they feel like that person is ready to be released.
Keep in mind this is a homeless person, while the rest of us that have jobs needs to pay for insurance and any other costs that may come with getting healthcare.
Does that sound fair to you?
My friend that's a nurse even are aware some of the bums abuse this system because he would see some homeless people come back over and over again.
Now I'm not sure if it's just California that's doing this. But seems awfully stupid that people with jobs need to pay while those not working basically get free healthcare.
The system is the reason why people are homeless. The system has a responsibility. You also don't understand that your crazy ideas make people homeless and never let them pay taxes again.
What will it cost, and WHO is paying? I'm not going to be working to pay more taxes for lazy fcks that won't work, and just want a free ride!! I WORK for my healthcare, and it costs me enough, now! Why should I pay more taxes for others, that DON'T work, especially now, with the Pandemic EXTRA unemployment benefits, to NOT work?
I take it he's American, come to Europe and ask people about this sir. It's hard to see the benefits from an ocean a way. Come to Europa and come see :)
@OrallyFixated PROVE IT!! I've heard so many liars, so many politicians promising, and NEVER delivering! The US is NOT AT ALL like Europe!! TOTALLY different culture, and you cannot compare the two and then just judge the US, unless you are just picking statistics, and ignoring CULTURAL differences.
@OrallyFixated How would you guarantee that you would pay less for government run healthcare than current premiums while keeping same service or better?
FYI, my company paid 100% of my premiums until the ACA ruined that... I'd like that back. I still pay 80% less than most American's so how exactly would my premiums be less?
I doubt my company would actually pay me more, as the government would just tax them for the healthcare so they'd transfer the cost to that... even if it wasn't. They would just pocket the extra money.
@I-C3_ME Good Sir, I respect your response, but why do I need to come to Europe, to learn this? This is simple accounting, and should be EASY to show, in an Excel table. No offense, and not that I would not like to visit your wonderful country, but just saying, from a practical point of view. Please don't assume that all of us, that live in America, are like the "Stereotype" that you know from the media, and with that FUCKWHIT, Trump!! You said, "I take it he's American," and that was rather insulting, as you seemed to assume I am like all of the ones that you see in media, and we have just now met. You don't know me, yet, nor I you, but I am not judging you. . .
Yeah true, you make a valid point. I did assume a lot.
Make assumptions didn't come from you being American alone. The thing that really make me believe those assumptions is that you capitalize words like THIS and it's gives me a very aggressive vibe. Seeing that most Republicans on the media also have this aggressive vibe in my eyes, i just subconsciously linked it. If you want stats, google awaits. I'm not here to convince you, just to give you my opinion.
Universal health care all the way! One should not worry about their health and how they will afford it. I am fortunately in a country that provides health care to all.. and it's blissful. I couldn't think of paying X amount of money because my health was in danger. Or having to choose between health or food..
For because it prevents economic parasites (insurance companies) from leaching off people who are unable to put the up front costs of their medical expenses.
From what I understand, we have health care for those who are uninsured. For example, if you get shot by a gun and don't have insurance, they take you to the county hospital. If a person gets shot society doesn't have them die on the side of the road. That person goes to a hospital.
I would show the link of what Medi-cal covers but I'm unable to because I'm not at the exper level. In any case, it pays more than my private insurance.
Medi-Cal Services Medi-Cal pays for a wide variety of medical expenses:
Primary Medical Care
Doctor visits Diagnostic testing Emergency services Surgery Hospitalization Prescription drugs Dental services Health screenings for kids Ongoing Care & Recovery
Personal care services (IHSS) Occupational & physical therapy Outpatient drug abuse services Nursing facility stays Adult day health care Other medical related costs
Medical supplies Durable medical equipment Transportation to doctor visits Transportation costs for children with disabilities
Healthcare, education and basic food clothing housing should be free in countries which can afford it.
The technology exists that this shouldn't be a problem, it's artificial scarcity that keeps people afraid and controlled. Life doesn't need to be like this.

Of course for! Every developed country on earth has it, except America. Obviously it's the right thing to do, otherwise other countries would do it. I lived in both the USA and Canada, and I'm trying to immigrate to Canada and this is one of the main reasons.
@SlightlyEccentric Canadian universal healthcare is better than American healthcare. And it’s free. And every other country does it. America is the only developed one that doesn’t. America also has a low life expectancy and people who literally die because they can’t afford insulin. That doesn’t happen in countries with universal healthcare
It's not free when your having a large percentage of your more of your income is taken out. And how about them wait times? Well we don't have that here. I get seen in a week or so. Not three months or more.
@SlightlyEccentric I am leaving. And American is the only country on earth where people die because they can't afford insulin. Let that sink in. How insane it is to not have free universal healthcare.
By the way Canadians spend less tax dollars for their healthcare than Americans spend on just medicare and medicaid per person.
As for me I’m for universal healthcare as long as the healthcare you receive is award winning & you are fully covered for every flocking thing from a bandage to brain surgery. On the other side of things if it’s universal it’s probably a bullshit plan & your coverage isn’t going to be that great. With that said I’m going to opt out for universal healthcare & keep my options open & keep my current plan because I gave great coverage.

im against it cause it is fake there is very few things I go to the doctor for
alkalizing the body heals it basically just drink water and fast do not eat
LIKE GOD SAID THE HERBS ARE FOR THE HEALING OF THE NATION
TAKES 10 DAYS FOR BLOOD TO BE CLEAN IF YOU ARE WONDERING WHICH IS WHY 21 FAST ARE BEST
I think everyone deserves the basic right to health care. Does that mean we should do away with the system we have now in America and give everyone the same health care plan 😂 no. That’s foolish. Some people want to spend more money or better doctors i don’t find anything wrong with that at all.
I do think Americas urgency could be better. When it comes to caring there’s a lack of genuineness and care. Let’s work on that
remember when the government tried to make college more affordable? Now that they ballooned up the cost by throwing endless amounts to money at it they want the taxpayer to foot the bill. If healthcare is paid for by the government that actually means the people are paying for it and every company in the world will be lined up to fleece the "government" just like colleges did. This will also take any :skin in the game" that might encourage individuals to manage their healthcare wisely. This will be the most expensive health care ever in the history of the universe
Yes, because many people go to the doctor when they're feeling fine, just because it's free! For every hypochondriac, there are hundreds of people who really need help.
The government has the power to regulate costs in health care. They can at least require that each hospital publish what they charge, and they could limit what is charged for a given procedure.
@goaded - "They can at least require that each hospital publish what they charge, and they could limit what is charged for a given procedure." If I believed that would happen I'd be all for it. they could do that right now but that reduce the money pouring into Washington DC. Look how the cost of healthcare went up with Obamacare. my deductible went up 4x and my paycheck deduction skyrocketed too. They'll pay for this by taxing something you don't associate with healthcare (like they taxed and stock trading to pay for Obamacare) and then they'll say: "look it's free!".
Actually, Trump set up rules that said the hospitals had to publish their prices, but neglected to standardise a list of procedures, resulting in incomprehensible lists.
The point is that it can be done, and has been successfully done in many major countries around the world.
(I'm pretty sure "they" didn't tax stock trading; that would be far too good an idea.)
@goaded if you make over a certain amount you pay an extra tax on gains from the sale of stocks. I think you have to make $250K or more for a single filer and the money goes to pay for Obamacare
@goaded it's millions of Americans by the way. you have the right to all the health care you want, you just don't have the right to force other people to pay for your lazy ass. If your disabled for real, I'm happy to pay my fair share to help those people (but not drug addicts or people who crashed their motorcycle)
@goaded no, if you make over 250K from any source, you pay extra on all of your capital gains so slackers who don't go to work can get free doctor visits
I don't see why not. I mean sure it's a load on the economy but health is far more important to any civilization than a bit more money. It's an investment in a happier and safer comunity and well worth the price tag
I am swedish so obviously I am strongly for it. And i do not want it another way. However I am not a supporter of gender swapping or fertility industry should go on the tax money. Those are not required to live a good healthy life. I rather see dental to be fully covered, I still don't understand why that is separated in Sweden. Healthy teeth are important for your health.

Could it be that homeless people often wind up homeless because of untreated medical problems? Hmm...
No...
The system is the reason why people are homeless. The system has a responsibility.
You also don't understand that your crazy ideas make people homeless and never let them pay taxes again.
You do understand that California has a homeless problem right? It's not an idea it's reality.
Your stupidity is also a reality. What is your idea of a solution? Gassing them?
So what you think it's fair they get free healthcare and take advantage of the system?
When the rest of us working needs to pay?
And sure you're the one that said it not me.
Uh no, it should be free for whoever needs it. It's not hard to behave like a civilized society
Again you're not seeing the problem...
Homeless people don't need to pay, but people that have jobs do.
That's the reality right now. It's not that hard to understand.
Simpleton
Lol you homeless or something?

@goaded even harder to feel bad for people who won't get off their dead ass and go to work or can't keep their reproductive organs in check
