The context of President Trump's statement was that violent anti-American anarchist marauders were trying to tear down a statue of Robert E. Lee and cancel American history. These were subhuman marauders who think violence its an acceptable form of expression.

What President Trump said is that there are good people on both sides of the issue about removing the statue. A thoughtful and generous statement that was meant to calm the situation.
