I personally think it's over the top. Yes, George Floyd brutal death brought a huge spotlight to police brutally that has been going on for several decades in the U. S. but to honor him with a statue is ridiculous.

Statues are for men and women who accomplished great milestones and greatly impacted society in a positive manner through their endeavors.

In 50yrs or so, the "new" woke crowd is gonna "cancel" his ass for being a drug-fueled thug who robbed stores and held people at gun point. They're gonna hate him just like they hate Robert E. Lee, Andrew Jackson, George Washington, and others. That statue won't be sitting there for too long before it's spray painted (tagged).

I'm sure the family's happy about it. That and the $27 million the city gave them before the trial was under way. And the BLM jerks STILL don't think they have "justice" from this situation.

It’s pretty weird. I didn’t even know this existed but that’s funny I mean it is sad he was murdered but to create a statue of him is definitely OTT because he hasn’t contributed significantly to society to have a public statue made of him which was paid for by taxpayers. If his family wanted one of him they could have one in their garden or something but yeah this is strange. A memorial bench + plaque would have been more apt.

I think it’s a waste of tax payer dollars to honor someone who’s only claim to fame was possibly being a murder victim. Floyd was certainly not a good person considering his criminal record and addiction issues.


Being black in and of itself doesn’t make you a hero. Being a black guy who got murdered doesn’t make you a hero in and of itself.


Being a person addicted to opioids and having been convicted of breaking and entering and battery on a pregnant woman in the commission of a crime not only doesn’t make you a hero but it makes you a scumbag that lacks penitence.


It should be melted down and made into something useful…like ammo for the National Guard to use to stack bodies in the streets the next time a bunch of SJW’s think it’s acceptable to rape, murder, loot, and burn all summer.

Bible defines addictions as sin. Sin is another word for evil. What is someone who practices evil? A sinner. Yes, being an addict is the opposite of self control, which the Bible defines as one of the fruit of the spirit. So, yes, Floyd was a bad person.

You don't know Floyd's heart unlike God. Many people are unwillingy suffering from addictions around the world due to broken down health reasons wheather, mentally, emotional or physically.

Moreover, many people are healed everyday from their addictions and they are decent people. I've met one who was addicted to drugs before. Don't judge what you don't know.

Substance abuse is linked to people who often are suffering health problems, that need medical help.

Unwillingly suffering? The Bible defines being a drunkard and by extension drug addict as sin. How is it unwilling? Did someone force them to become alcoholics and drug addicts. Look at steps 5 & 8 from AA. Know what those are about? Accountability. It’s the addict coming to an understanding they alone are responsible for their addiction. No one forced them to do this. They chose this.

I don’t need to know Floyd’s heart because I can see the worms of the flesh in his life choices and aware of any public or private proclamation of him coming to faith and repenting. Perhaps he’s dead because God has executed judgment on him. He was clearly an addict until his dying day. It is known from the coroners report he had Fentanyl in his system.

There's a difference between a full blown person that enjoys their sin and evil vs someone who terribly dealing with past or current trauma wheather physically, emotionally or mentally that got hooked on pain killers and one thing led to another which caused a horrible negative experience that led them to become addicted unwillingly to substance abuse to a nightmare they are going through medically wise who need medical assistance. I don’t see anywhere in scripture that God makes that type of destination.

Scripture says no drunkard will inherit the Kingdom of God. Doesn’t say if you’re a drunkard due to past trauma it’s ok. When is it ok to sin? Can’t claim Jesus while actively and intentionally living in sin.

God knows those who are medically struggling with a illness that leads them into addiction and those who indulge in pleasure of wickedness and are hell bent staying in that condition.

I think this is going over your head. No need for him to know hearts in this situation. Drunkenness is a sin. The scripture says drunkards (alcoholics and drug) addicts will not go to heaven. Period. Unless they repent. Scripture doesn’t allow room for someone who practices sin to enter heaven.

George was not a person who got hooked while receiving medical treatment. Most addicts aren’t. The ones that do become addicted have a responsibility to seek treatment. Those who do not are unrepentant.

This is really simple. God is not going to say to someone: “ohhh you’ve abused drugs unrepentantly for 2 years because you got addicted after your surgery…free pass.”

It is true to say there is a difference between falling in the mud and choosing to lie there. It is true we struggle with sin. So far as I can tell the one who is not trying is not interested in repentance.

Looking at Floyd’ we see a man with a violent criminal history, he resisted arrest just prior to being put on the ground and was high at the time. He encountered police for trying to pass counterfeit currency.

Ultimately God will judge but looking at what I see I don’t see a repentant sinner. I see someone who was sinning right up to his dying day.

If God isn’t wiling any should parish then I can just live in sin and know I won’t go to hell right? Jesus must be ones savior but also their Lord. One cannot receive salvation for continual and willful disobedience to their Lord.

Meaning that yes, it is possible for a Christian to sin. It’s possible for a Christian to fall into a period of sin or even grave sin (but likely brief in duration). Why? Because he’s been born again. God’s seed is in him. The Holy Spirit will not let the Christian be comfortable in sin. The Holy Sprit will cause conviction and a desire to repent. The Christian, one who has been truly been born again cannot live in sin continually. They cannot practice sin, meaning they can’t choose as a permanent lifestyle from which they won’t repent what they know to be sin. It is literally impossible for someone who has been born again to do this.

Compare and contrast that to someone who practices sin…for example someone who has been a drug addict for years. This person is comfortable with sin. This person does not have any major objections to sin. Yes, they may abject to a drug addiction eventually due to the consequences they suffer from it but they won’t object to it on grounds God calls it sin and is unhappy with it. This person practices sin. It’s a habitual life style pattern for them which they are quite comfortable with.

So yes, God knows the heart which we don’t. We also has God’s word which counsels us. The book of 1st John has 2 major purposes behind it. The first was to correct error brought on by false teachers. The second is to provide the believer with proof as to whether of not they’re saved. There are about 7 or so different things in 1st John that clearly indicate salvation. One of this is a hatred for sin and an inability to continually live in it without repenting.

If you dig into the past of many of the iconified figures, you'll find good and bad because behind the furore, they were real people who often achieved extraordinary things. If only notoriety.
