Some people succeed in college simply because of family connections, which is how they also get in. Others succeed due to hard work AND intelligence. Others fail because of poor study habits and lethargy despite being intelligent.
This would be a much BETTER question if you had stated what you think "intelligence" is.

Passing a college or university course shows that you can learn and may imply you have some academic intelligence but the two are not the same. There is also emotional intelligence, and common sense intelligence. So when you say say 'smart', what is it you actually mean?
That wouldn't make much sense. Collage anyone can get in here. Then university's is just a money thing or getting into debt. Neither of those things contribute to needing to be smart.
A person is not smart if they went to college, many people barely get into college. Its their experience and use of knowledge that makes them smart. Anyone can read and remember the words in a book, but only few can use that knowledge.
Definitely not. Some of the most gullible, clueless, myopic, dysfunctional people I know have Masters and even Doctorate degrees. They were smart enough to make it through college, but all they know is in their field of expertise.
No, because knowledge is not intelligence. You can have worked your ass off and done really well in college but someone who goofed off their entirely life will still be more intelligent than you are
I was in college before covid and saw more than enough stupid people with good grades. I may not be the smartest but my parents praised common sense growing up. Colleges ignore that like it's not important.
No. Colleges used to require everyone who attended to learn a foreign language and calculus. Standards have fallen and the game now is to get as many people as possible, smart or not, to pay $$$$ for college.
I never necessarily did, but if you asked me 10-ish years ago I'd have said almost all of them. I no longer feel that way. The bar has been severely lowered. This is both reinforced by personal experiences on campus and the abundance of ridiculousness you see online.
No. During two degrees and even a masters I sat in lecture theaters surrounded by educated idiots. A good memory (which is what the assessment system rewards) does not equal a high IQ.
Tyler judged based on his own experience and didn't consider others based on concensus... like scientists today... science by consensus.🤔 And the girl's arrogance precluded her ability to reason beyond her first impression. Her education empowered her to judge others... what a douchebag.
Education does make people smarter, for a fact. But it also depends on one's intelligence. Some people are smart, some aren't. And let's not ignore street smarts.
NO! There's a LOT of stupid people that went to college!! Going to college means NOTHING unless you learned something while you were there!! Especially if it's something useful.
It depends on a number of factors including the college they attended. Almost certainly, anyone attending Oxford, Harvard, Princeton, or Yale, are smart. However, some colleges are little more than glorified high schools.

Nope, I have a friend who never went to college and he knows things I never known before. There's book smarts and then there's street smarts.

Absolutely not.
AOC is one of my classic examples of how going to college does NOT make you smart. And she "supposedly" has 2 degrees!

With $50,000 per year tuition for some liberal arts degrees, the opposite is likely more often true.
Educated and intelligent are not the same thing.
Educated and indoctrinated are not the same thing.
A degree does not make one wise.

They might be book smart, or know their chosen field of work real well, but they might not necessarily live like a smart person.

No real life experience is what makes your smart and reading lots of books especially world history and of course travelling.
No. But I won't assume they're idiots either. That is determined by how they approach problems/their accomplishments.
