Someone who says that all college proves is that you know how to pass a test is wrong. I went to college and built my career directly after I graduated. I wouldn't know what the hell I was doing in my field if I didn't go to college. It's not just about "tests", it's about preparing yourself for what you are going to school for. You also learn from people who are in that career path because THEY teach you. After college comes experience. And even during college, you gain experience. And in a lot of cases, you need college to even get the opportunity for experience. That's why I had an internship class 🌸

College gives you knowledge and concepts for the basic skills you need in most jobs and then depending on what you are going for it will narrow the knowledge and information to that field specifically. It's to prepare you for the workforce. What you want to make a living at.
It doesn't necessarily mean someone is smart enough to actually learn and understand what they are taught to be able to apply it to most aspects of their lives. It's not simple to say that people who go to college are automatically smart.
And that girl in the video was basing her decision of dudes intelligence on his demeanor... obviously that has nothing to do with actual intelligence and the tests proved how wrong her perception of intelligence was.. she was so mad at the end🤣😂
There is a difference between 'smart' and 'educated'.
The smartest people I know did poorly in high school/dropped out of university because they don't test well or work well under deadlines. But they could give you a verbal essay on the complexities of several issues with in depth analysis you would expect to hear from an expert.
I also know people who are doing very well in uni, or who have earned their degree already, who are just average. Yes they are now an expert in something, but outside of that field they are just like tge rest of us

There is some correlation between going to college and being intelligent but the correlation is far from perfect. There are some dumb asses in college and some smart ones who stayed at home.

Absolutely not. While going to college can help you gain knowledge and even wisdom you certainly don't have to go to college to be smart and I now for a fact that not everyone who has gone to college and even not everyone who has graduated is smart. That being said as cheesy as it sounds being smart isn't really what matters as much as it is a willingness to learn. This isn't exactly the place to preach but being kindhearted and loving might not get you on the cover of the forbes but it will get you everything that you truly need in life.
No. My father didn't even graduate from high school. He joined the Army when WW2 broke out.. He ran his own business and was fairly successful. He was not a multimillionaire but he was well respected and well liked by everyone he did business with. He was also very intelligent in the sense that he knew what he liked an he knew what was BS.
My ex-girlfriends father did not graduate from high school either. He joined the Navy and learned electronics. He became an engineer at the local 'TV station and he could fix just about anything. He was an amazing car mechanic, he built his own house, framing, masonry work, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. He did it all.
These guys were not educated but they were really , really smart.no, book smart sure, world- real life situations no, i have two brothers that can prove that they have their degrees but really no life sense at all over the most menial things like how to fix a sink, know nothing about owning a home, dealing with people the right way etc
Assuming you mean smart as in their IQ level, then it would generally depend on how well they do & if they're even trying. Because if someone does very well in college, then they'd likely have a higher IQ than average.
As for the woman on the video, even though she got the lowest, she's still in the high average of IQ ranking! So, she's definitely smart. She's just probably much more conscientious & less creative than some of the others which has made her better equipped for her current lifestyle.
And who knows how accurate that IQ score is. She could retake it in a more comfortable & leisurely environment and score higher.Going to college means you are much smarter than the general population, but that doesn't mean you are the smartest in any group. Maria's IQ score is 112, making it 12 points higher than the average US population. So if by smart you mean more intelligent than most people based on IQ, then yes. There will always be exceptions still.
Might depend on their major and degrees. I had a colleague who had two PhDs in physics from New Zealand. He was pretty smart... in physics and mathematics. Not so smart when it came to talking to girls or making friends or athletics but pretty smart in those areas (not just in terms of what we knew, but how quickly he could learn new things).
No, colleges and universities have lost a lot of value especially with how much you can learn without going to college however its still a place to get an education and probably more importantly its an officially recognized education when it comes to jobs and the working world
No, intelligence is 80% genetic. How much you’re able to learn and how quickly you can learn is mostly pre-determined. You can try to educate a person with an IQ of 90, they will never learn as much or as quickly as a person with an IQ of 110 no matter how well you teach the subject, simply because their ability to
understand the teaching in the first place is lower.
College education has become easier over time, and as a result more and more people go to college and pass. There are many very intelligent people who see no point in going to college because it’s simply not needed for whatever it is they’re looking to do for a living.
There are “less educated” people who earn a lot more than those who went to college, maybe they learned a trade or started their own business without the need to. There are also people with useless college degrees who can’t find a decent job.I went to college and I consider myself skilled and trained and educated rather than intelligent but I’m satisfied with my achievement because I earned it by working hard to get into the school and also to graduate and I believe I deserve a modest level of recognition and respect for my achievement since I didn’t have to do it.
That's the whole reason that some people go to college - just as a way of proving that they are better than others.
Some degrees they practically give away -just show up to class on the way back from the party
That's why student loan forgiveness is bullshit.
If you want a way to feel better about yourself - pay for it yourself.
(Don't ask the people you shit on - to pay your for your special time)
Once college all become free - then really how special do you think you are going to be?
Since immediately after that everybody is going to have the same degree you have! lololCollege is where you go to get the career you want to work for. But I would not say that a person is smart just because they went to college. Otherwise that means anybody who didn't want to go to college is dumb. And that's offensive to anyone. Smarts and intelligence can never be based on only one thing as everyone has different levels, abilities, and skills. Not just that but college isn't the only place you can learn new things either.
Not at all. I have seen companies bring in college kids that have high pedigree papers for the job they went to college for and as soon as you put them in the field they are a deer in head lights. A lot of college are a lot more book smart then common sense.
No definitely not. Its education vs experience. If someone has more experience in a area they are probably smarter than someone that just read a book and passed a test. And that is all colleges proves is that you know how to pass a test, if they wanted to be smart than they actually need to be experienced too.
Yes I do believe that they are smart and hard working. And more reliable than someone that didn't go to college usually (as in taking responsibility). You can't just underestimate education like that. Of course I also know many guys who lack social skills and logical skills that also wrnt to college but that doesn't change the fact that we learn plenty of stuff there.
No if they were smart they wouldn't need college , i have worked many years. Many go to college and have large debts, then I with no college end up passing them up and become their boss and i have no debt. I was a plant manager for 20 years many tried to take me out of my position yet failed to do so and ended up getting let go in time for failure to be successful at their job role. College is great for lawyers , doctors, etc but business or most things it is waste of time.
Well not everyone can go to college and complete it. A lot of hard work, dedication, self-discipline and a certain level of intelligence is required. Whether you like it or not, that is the truth.
Some (academic) careers depend more on submission to The System and on being conform with society's expectations, than having something to do with talent or brightness.
Especially, when the parent's wallet decides, but not the student's qualification.
But to go there and at least to try and progress is a basic sign of intelligence; just not proving the higher levels yet.Nope there are different levels of intelligence. There are some that are great StreetSmarts which are able to manipulate and control things. There is a book smarts which is your typical college educated person and then there’s worldly knowledge. Trivia can
Just because you go to college doesn't mean you're smart. It's about how you use it.
I know some kids in my college class you eho are smart enough to recite any piece of history but some kids can't even identify the tense of a verb.
College is just a platform for you to gain higher education, can't get the benefit if you don't use it right.I watched that video, and I could tell from the very beginning that guy was quite smart. He remembered me of some quite smart guy I used to work with.
I was surprised that the girl said the opposite. Then I guessed the girl probably wasn't too smart herself.
