I dont think he deserved to die, but there are plenty more people out there who deserve one. A criminal shouldn't be celebrated.

The only person who has a right to topple a statue is that statue's owner. This is regardless of who the statue is of. If you want to expend your money erecting a statue of Adolph Hitler or Ted Bundy that's your business. But don't do it with my tax money. Floyd did not deserve to be murdered. His murderers belong in prison. But he was no saint. So his statue does not belong in a public place. There are plenty of legitimate martyrs who deserve statue like Breonna Taylor who was a good upstanding citizen who was murdered by a gang of outlaw thugs with badges. Her statue belongs in a prominent place for all to see. Floyd's belongs at his cemetery plot.

What happened to him was WRONG. NO QUESTION!
But now, he has become some "Martyr" and he really isn't that worthy, from everything I have seen. Drug abuse, Jail time, arrest records. . .
But Rodney King was no saint, either, and he was made out to be some "hero" in the 1990s.
Really sad how media can twist things, and society can ignore FACTS, in one case to Glorify one, while vilifying others. . .

He definitely didn't deserve to die and remembering him does help to shed a light on police brutality. However he wasn't the most stand up guy to begin with and there are so many more people who should be honored before him but the statues are already made and they serve as a good reminder that even if you do have a criminal record and even if you do struggle you don't deserve to be killed for it.

I agree with you. He was turned into a political prop to appeal to stupid people in American society (of all races). I doubt he would've even wanted his entire life to be used merely as a means to get Democrats elected into office.

I think it’s funny that Black people want their community to be remembered as crack head criminals that die on the floor over dosing. Now generations of Americans can point to the stature and say there’s old crack head George Floyd. Black people burnt down their own neighborhoods when he did too much dope.
