Men's rights, women's rights; the prosperous and opulent west could do well with talking more about obligations than whining about rights tied to imagined injustices in every corner. People who know to take responsibility lead far more healthy and successful lives than those who come undone as soon as their every whim isn't attended to. If western people want to complain about rights, they can first look at modern slavery in Libya and Mauritania, mutilation of female genitalia in Islamic Africa, persecution and hanging of Christians and homosexuals in Iran and abduction and torture by the government in North Korea and China. The reason why there are few good female scientists is because women get their rights few decades ago while men have it better since the beginning of the human history. I'm a left wing feminist and I agree with many of the base arguments that come from the mens rights movement: unfair courts pertaining to child custody, divorce law (in a modern 2 working household), biased education not acknowledging need for physical activity, disproportionate homelessness, circumcision as a choice etc,

I do disagree however, with the lack of leadership by men for men, in institutions that are predominantly run by men. In 1922 there were less than 1% of women ever practicing law. Now, it's 50/50 for recent grads/public defenders, yet mid career judges (who make case decisions) are still 75% male. When we look at private business, it'd still skewed 66% men and when you look past entry level into executive leadership it's about 20% women and 80% men.

When we look at these numbers, instead of leading an attack on women for being the problematic (25% of which arguably are) men really need to be targeting and dismantling ancient majority systems (the 75%) designed by men (working against modern men and women) ideally for the betterment of both genders.

I believe the argument is there, I would like to redirect the frustration from ' modern women allowed to uphold these horrible norms' and acknowledging the history of men that institutioned the norms.

Feminism would of never of succeeded if it wasn’t for sympathetic men. This is something feminists keep conveniently forgetting. Men created technology, governments, effective birth control and legal systems that have enabled feminism. We GAVE them a platform to complain on. But we held the keys the entire time.

But most women do NOT have the same mental capacity as men. They have served a vital role in all of human history. There is a old saying that “behind every great man there is a great woman”. But getting back to our current society. We are starting to the radical side effects of what feminism has done to both men and women. Young women embrace this all they can. Also the ones that have sons are observing their young boys being treated like shit in western society.

If we are going to undo the damage radical feminism has done it has to start with honey badgers (women who support men’s rights). THEY have to speak up.

P. S. I'm not part of this particular movement, as I think most "movements" are contrary to independent thought by their collectivist nature. But I'm sympathetic to some of the specifics they raise. I personally have a male family member who attempted suicide in part because of the punitive divorce system that sees him as a "problem" and the drug-addicted emotionally manipulative mother as the "blameless innocent one". But he didn't join a men's rights group either, he got healthy and started putting his life back on track. But visitation rights are still a daily struggle and all the while the mum drips poison into the kids ears to the point he's about ready to give up trying any more. Also because they don’t see any other benefits when they get to vote. Really tell me what benefits does women really get when they really get to vote? Men on the other hand, they get recruited to join the military and fight during the world war and the revolutionary war which what makes them suffrages in the first place. Unlike women, they don’t have the rights to refuse. The only benefit they get from voting is so that they won’t be demoted and get homeless. Unlike in today’s world, you can now easily vote online, you don’t have to wait in line, system is easier now for you to vote. You got your votes for free. That’s the same with cars as well. Cars before requires so many manual labor that it’s not easy for both to maintain and most guys don’t even get to own cars because only the rich can.

@VanillaSalt I believe that in instances like that where the father doesn’t want the child but the mother does, it’s always because the “father” is irresponsible and the woman is now retaliating by NOT aborting the child. It only does happen when she’s out for revenge and wants to make him pay (well figuratively and literally speaking).

In other (“normal”) instances, where both parents are responsible adults, the father (a decent responsible person) will offer to pay, but will not be interested in being a part of that child’s life in any capacity and the mother will agree.

But you see? No matter what, the father should/will pay, because that’s the right thing to do no matter the decision.

@grega239 Well circumcision is ultimately the parents’ decision.. though the decision to circumcise is guided by religious tradition for some families, most of the American parents who choose circumcision do so for other reasons — because they believe a circumcised penis is easier to keep clean, for example, or because they want a boy's penis to look like that of his father or peers.

And obviously men aren’t really drafted anymore.. The draft wasn't seen as an act of oppression but duty.

As a civilian of a nation, if there is a war, it requires a certain level of man power and you are obligated to share in the protection of it. Men are generally more physcally suited for combat, upper body strength and all. Personally I think it makes sense for the draft to exclude women, and in no way see that as oppression, just an acknowledgement that one sex is differently skilled in certain things.

That aside you have to remember back then, military service was more of a privilege.

Young royals and nobility filled the ranks, the officers who were first over the top were often the sons of the wealthy elite. At the onset of WWI, people were clamoring to join it wasn't until further in the war that changed. It wasn't Vietnam, where the wealthy wanted to help their kids avoid the draft.. instead they wanted them to volunteer.

You're looking at this from a very progressive modern eye. Where a glorious death in battle isn't something desirable to anyone.

Instead of the view then, to not go would be left out of a national and generationally defining moment. Those who couldn't medically serve where ashamed of this even after the war.

Men have several choices to not create a pregnancy that results in a child they need to care for:
1: discussing with your sexual partners what their decision would be if they were to become pregnant ahead of time.
2: condoms

4: vasectomies (which are much easier to obtain than a tubal ligation)

Those are the choices men have to prevent a pregnancy. They don’t get to decide on abortion, but thems the breaks because that’s down to body autonomy.

Now, if you create a child you need to care for it, regardless of gender. If both parties decide to choose adoption then that settles that.

Did you know that if you’re pregnant and decide to keep a pregnancy to birth with the agreement with your partner that the infant will be given up for adoption that the partner can, after the birth, decide that they want to keep the child. Guess what?

The woman will need to pay child support, regardless if she has custody or not.

Men back out of fathering children that they specifically went out of their way to create ALL THE TIME. Not only that but men abandon their children with relatively little societal consequence. They don’t care for their children with relatively little societal consequence.

You hate that word probably because you want double standards. You see how feminism became extreme that it gets to the point that it became a man hating movement? That can potentially happen to the male right activist. Unlike supporting equality itself, no matter how extreme equality is, the result is always equality. I can say im a pro choice but that has nothing to do with me being a feminist also because i support men's rights.

I thought you feminist want equality but why do you even complain if guys do the same thing? Don't you realize that equality just simply have something to do with copying to be equal? Yes while you yourself freely copying by wanting "equality", you only complain because a man does it so i see your movement is double standards full of hypocrisy after all.
