I have sources that tell me in a lot of areas , yes , they are hiring but not Full time. Only 12. 16, and 20 hours. I guess that would keep them from paying benefits. Some companies are saying you also can't work anywhere else. So, you work for us 12 hours and that is it or we will fire you.

There are PLENTY of FT jobs out there. I am short about 9 employees and we are booked out months in advance. Paying more only leads to inflation which then means your lifestyle costs the same. Net sum ZERO game.

The cost of everything has gone up without having raised the minimum wage yet. How are people expected to keep up with the cost of inflation? You can't have the cost of everything going up while still making the same salary and expect to have no financial problems, especially if you have 3 kids.

Meijer here is one. You can't quit there and work for them again either. Because their shit doesn't smell and if you get 16 hours their at $8 an hour and $12 an hour at other job working 30 hours , you should work for them because it is such an honor.

If they have to choose between the two , they aren't going to pick $128 a week over $360 a week. The store here is barely functional. They need many workers but they have their shit don't stink policy. I think they will close the store at this rate.

Work is just another thing thats falling apart in society these days. Young people have to scramble to find odd jobs. Most companies have more PT than FT just to save money, even though they have millions/billions in cash reserves. The same shit jobs are always on the job boards because the work is terrible with min wage. Everybody needs a 'side hustle' but nobody really make money from it because there's so many people that everybody does shit for free. UBI is needed. Most millenialls will live with no savings until boomers are gone. Boomers also hang onto jobs they don't need into their 80's until forced to retire, leaving no promotions for young people. Things like Uber and Skipthedishes have ruined decent jobs for some, into odd jobs for many. There's just too many people.

Companies have done this stuff for eons. When I was a teen and early 20s, fast food joints always gave people less than full time hours. But if you saw fast food as a career/something you really were sticking to they would cut that person more slack and give them a fixed schedule where they could work other jobs into their week. Only the bottom of the barrel temporary workers got the unpredictable random schedule stuff.

I'm not a low income worker because I taught myself skills worth more money and I learned on the job as I got into better paying jobs. Most people don't have life goals or don't work towards their goals. Not saying I had my whole life planned.. but enough not to be stuck in a low income rat race for life.

Businesses are shitting themselves, as are most staff. Both don't know if the next paycheck will be their last. Not only because of the economic slowdown, but if they'll catch covid from a coworker or relative and lose their job or life because of it.

It seems to me that the economy is going through a massive reorganization, due to not only to impact of the coronavirus, but the changes that have been gradually taking place over the last 50 years.
The coronavirus has thrown those changes into overdrive.
There is going to be a lot of opportunity for entrepreneurs, there will be followers of those entrepreneurs who will do well, and there will will those who are left in the dust.
Survival of the fittest.
As it always has been, and always will be.

From what I'm seeing people are looking for full time jobs, but anymore that means 35 hrs a week, just below having to pay benefits. I've seen places offering $4 an hour extra for working weekends. But until the states stop with the "Unemployment Giveaway" people will not be too hasty in getting back to work.
