How old were you when you bought your first house?

I was 22 but it was a small and cheaper place, that I also got with "assistance"
a better, bigger place that could be considered apt for a family, I got it around age 26
if we're talking about a "dream house" at a "dream location" and all that, I've got nothing like that yet, that will have to wait till later, maybe when I am married and planning for a family, and then... it would have to be a decision and purchase from two people involved, like you and your husband
I bought a condo when I was 30 and sold it a few years later.
I didn't get married until I was 42 and my wife and I finally moved to a different part of the state 4 years later. We bought 30 beautiful acres of bare land in a rural area and moved into our very first home when I was 48. We been here now for over 19 years and absolutely love it.
First off, congratulations!
I was actually really hesitant to buy a house at first because I don't know the first thing about fixing anything. We rented for a while, but I mostly just focused on getting my credit score over 800 and then bought the house we are in now which has now double in equity, back in my mid 30s.
I was about 15 years old, and I bought 1/3 of a house. It was a rental property that my dad and brother arranged. I never even saw the house until years later when we had to do an eviction. People think that landlords are rich, but don't believe that for a second.
What?
I don't know what more I can say, because I told you what happened.
yeah, I read what you wrote, 15 is just pretty young to be investing real estate.
Yes, it is young. My Dad was a real estate agent, and just wanted to teach my brother and I to invest. A bunch of us also bought up a city block of shit-hole houses. That block was destined to be zoned as commercial property, so that was the angle. Once the city zoned it commercial property, the taxes go through the roof, and you just sell it quickly. Some developer bought it and bulldozed the entire block. Now it's all office buildings.

About 3 years ago, a 50's Ranch. Not a mansion but big enough for me. Plus it's got a pool.
I was 31. I loved my house but not my husband (he was high on pot morning, noon, and night). He was a chemicalized husband. We got divorced and he kept the house - even though I worked to help pay for it for 4 years.
I was 24 when I bought my 1st real estate property. It's not a house. It's the small multi-unit apartment building I used to rent in when I was in college.
My wife and I have not yet bought a house. We are saving though.
24. Just a small condo for myself. It's a savings account you sleep in.
Congratulations :). I bought mine 2 years ago. Probably the best thing I've done in my life so far honestly.
i was forty... i paid cash for it. most people answering this won't have actually bought a house but just signed up to a lifetime of debt. its only 'bought' when its paid for
I have no desire to be a home owner. My husband does tho and we are saving for a home/land so most likely when he retires we build a home.
Why not? it's one of the best investments that you can make?
On the contrary, after 2 years you avoid capital gains. I’ve know lots of people who move every two years and keep building equity.
My ex wife and I bought ours when she was 25 and I was 26. Your doing really well at 24.
Don't know if I'll ever buy one. Not on my list and I still have no clue which city I want to settle down in yet.
Better to buy one because it is value kept meaning you can sell it and get your value back in the form of money again. Renting you cannot do that.
Oh you're an inner city kid.
About 17.
I bought 4 in a deal with an estate agent. I resold one and the other three went on rent.
Age 45, leased with option to buy; ... after having rented/leased residences 19 times in 21 years!
I have never owned a house.
My wife owns my house; I just pay for it.
I dont want to buy a house unless i built it. So hopefully anywhere between age 30-35
I was 26 and writing that check caused me to go into labor. True story!
30. Should buy a condo ASAP instead of giving cash away renting.
24. Still paying it as I'm only 26 this December. Figured if I'm going to be single I might as well get it taken care of now.
Flipped a couple in my 20s. 30ish when I bought the one I live in.
I was 18, I bought a half-share with my mother for cash.
32 & still renting smh.
Nothing wrong with that. Anybody can buy a house man. If you don't believe me, remember what I have said and after you buy a house ask yourself was that guy on GAG right? And you'll say... Yeah he was spot on. The issue is people never even try because they think they can't. Not knowing how is not a reasoning to not make a decision to buy a house. I don't know how to play that video game but guess what I played it anyway and now I know how to play...
