Do you believe in the Guaranteed Income?

The principle for Guaranteed Income is that the government will pay you a livable amount to sit at home and do nothing. It's a form of welfare and social assistance but rather than living on the poverty line it gives you more money to enjoy life and it's pleasures.

I do not believe in this system because it will be abused and in the end you will have more people on the system than you will have tax payers and less tax payers means to government will raise taxes to help support those on the Guaranteed Income. If you don't work you starve or live on the street. I could live 2 years and not work a day but I would use up all my credit cards, line of credit and house then I would be on the street and complaining like any leftists socialist on how it was not my fault for my debt. This whole idea in spending money and not having to pay back debt is very stupid and it hurts everyone. There is no such thing as free shit because there is always a price.

no that's a recipe for disaster. Instead just raise the wages a bit, give people actual paid vacation time, let women be with their newborn the first 6 months or hell even a year paid. Women shouldn't have to be separated from their newborn. The man should be able to have paid leave time to for at least the first two months to bond with his family and help his wife out around the house and making sure she's comfortable. People should just get paid a salary and standard work weeks across the board should be 34 hours capped. This would also allow for more workers to be hired to help fill the void in unemployment. Healthcare should be given as well and we should get paid Holidays and 4 weeks of paid vacation. Before I hear some bullshit about me being entitled or lazy I would just like to point out the glaring issues with marriages due to one or both people having to work 60+ hours a week, the decrease in life expectancy, and the overall happiness of people. We weren't designed to work 40+ hours a week. We are social creatures, we naturally want to be with our families. If this is somehow "entitlement" I honestly dont give a shit. For the betterment of mankind every person should only have to work so many hours.

We already have such a system here. It's called Universal Credit, and I see very many claimants getting more, much more, than people who are working.

This is not right at all. There is no reason why a working person should be funding someone to not work, and to 'earn' more.

And basic universal income will just further the rot.

What we want is jobs that don't pay peanuts, provide to live at least a basic lifestyle, and have some worker protection.

Universal income just increases dependence on the state, and ushers in the new technocratic era where the many are paid just enough to subsist on - along with their no doubt pollution credits, and that barely, while the elite do what they want, fly everywhere etc. People really have the blinkers on if they can't see what's coming.

With a guaranteed livable income, a lot of people would decide they didn't need to work at all. Especially in households where there are multiple adults that are eligible. How can that possibly be sustainable? Is there even one example of this working anywhere?

Alaska has the pfd. Basically 1000 a year for being a resident. The money comes from the oil pipeline and basically everyone is a shareholder of Alaska resources.

You can take this same idea for other resources like say automation. So it keeps people's wages competitive. Once you have that basic level of income people tend to invest like families and education. If you're not scraping off the bottom you can do these things.

Then you look at the current welfare system and it's creating situations where improving your life is actively achieving less stability. A ubi would achieve stability at the start, then while improving your life is rewarding.

Anything that comes from the government got there because of taxpayers. As a taxpayer, and especially with my direct involvement in having to deal with the worker shortage right now, I have zero inclination whatsoever to support any form or rendition of Universal Basic Income. For UBI to even be viable, it would have to effectively replace most if not all other government assistance programs, most of which we already can't afford and will more than likely need to be cut anyway if there's any serious interest in keeping the country functioning long term.

Since America’s wealth comes from blue cities/blue states, I have no problem saying yes. We make the money, and we don’t mind funding Americans who make less than a specific amount.

Red states (not blue cities in red states) have got to get out of debt. Their GDP’s are in the red (no pun intended). They have no industry aside from fossil fuel, and fossil fuel’s on its way out. They’re absolutely intent on shunning education, and embracing labor as “the conservative way”. But labor doesn’t = trillion dollar GDP’s. Thus why red states are so poor. They need to start paying their way. Red state welfare’s a drain on America.

Yes, i do think it is a good idea. It would also make other federal financial help obsolete, as there is now enough money to make a living, so there is no need for unemployment cheques, stimulus cheques, student loans, ...

And i don't see how this could be abused, everyone gets the same amount, The avarage joe, Dr. Prof Jane, and even Jeff Bezos would get an additional bucks.

It is just as you describe. In the short run, it can seem like a good thing but ultimately it breeds too many unproductive, and the system collapses making it many times worse than if nothing had been done.
