This represents one more example of a professional organization becoming politically active and trying to extend itself beyond what should be its boundaries. The American Bar Association did this many years ago and I dropped my membership by my third year of practice.

So, in a way, I get it.
I'm wondering if there's any particular medical benefit to having sex explicitly listed on our birth certificate.
For example, in every legal use of mine (or that I've used birth certificates for in a professional context), the name and date of birth are what we look for to confirm identify or details. We don't really need "Sex" - except when our computer systems require it (easy fix - make it optional/remove it if it serves no functional purpose to the end result).
So, if there's no use for it, why have it at all? Sure, it's a small savings, but removing a line of specialized ink from millions of documents issued in a year? That's bound to have a little bit of a savings.
And even if there *is* a medical use, it'd be easy for a doctor to figure out what bits I've got. So. Y'know. Why bother?

From a biological standpoint there are 2 genders Male and Female designated by your chromosomes at birth. Are there the extremely rare instance of someone being born with both, sure but it's incredibly rare. Everything else is personal preference, and turning fetishes into identities.

If I ever have a kid and it has a penis, I will register him as male; of it has a vagina, I will register her as female. If when they get older, they think of themselves as any other thing, the register can be changed. I may not know what "gender" they will end up being, but I will be 100% sure of what their bodies were born as.
The fluid gender spectrum voodoo makes sense in the context of a classroom of college freshmen with zero world exposure and life experience that doesn't extend beyond a bottom tier public school and their own bedrooms; it's completely insane from a medical/biological standpoint.
Well, this just demonstrates how easily medicine and 'science' is shaped and manipulated by culture. What doctors and medical professionals and bodies assert is not necessarily connected to facts or even biology. Often politics is at play. I disagree because of the fact that it´s scientifically proven by now that because females and males have different quantums of hormones they have different symptoms of certain diseases. For instance could the symptoms of female heart diseases differentiate from male heart diseases because the female heart is smaller. There are differences that are not negiotable between males and females therefore you need to make it clear if a baby is born male or female for their future sake.
Even if they did do this, everything in our life asks if we are male or female, from every time you go to the doctor, get a job, if your dating if your are male & female person. from before your birth, certain changes inside a woman's will affect you for the rest of your life; no matter what your birth certificate says, you will need to know if you are a boy or a girl

So, rather than, say, accepting that people don't always conform to social expectations, and acknowledging that humans are complicated, we should deny the basic fundamental realities of biology?

That's fucking retarded. A birth certificate doesn't say fuck all about gender. It says SEX. We've had a bunch of fucking morons tell us over and over again for decades how gender isn't the same thing as sex. Fine. So we put the sex on the birth certificate as per always. No changes needed.
There's a difference between gender identity and genetic gender. You can identify as whatever you want, but you can't change the fact the those born male will always be genetically male, irregardless of whatever surgeries they get down the road.
Science is trying to force biology and psychology together. If you're born male and say you "feel" female, you have a severe mental disorder. You are not female, you are male.

So, what they want to do is just remove the sex from public view so that it doesn't haunt transgender people's for all time, rather than getting rid of it entirely.
