I don't quite understand why a person's gender would be marked on an identity card in the first place. It doesn't belong there. What DOES belong there is the person's SEX (male or female). This should be clearly stated from the moment of birth, UNLESS the baby happens to be born intersexual (with no clearly identifiable genitals). If the baby is intersexual, the sex should be marked as "intersexual" or "unknown" and the baby should NOT undergo surgery. It should have the choice to decide itself whether it wants a penis or a vagina once it is old enough to make such a decision.

fuck no. gender is completely different than sexuality. if you have a dick, you're male. if you have a vagina, you're female. sure, there are abnormalities that can allow for some confusion, but most of the time it's pretty clear. you can't have a dick and say i'm a female, because scientifically and according to anatomy, you're male.

Sorry to be overtly exact here but your first sentence should read "gender is completely different than sex". 'Sexuality' is not the same thing as 'sex'. That's yet a completely different thing again. 'Sex' just refers to your biological anatomy. 'Sexuality' refers to your sexual habits, preferences etc. For example if you're into oral sex or if you like girls, that's part of your sexuality. The term 'sex' can be a little confusing because it has two very distinct meanings. The meaning we're talking about here has nothing to do with intercourse.
