I live in a safe place so I don't really need them. The police use most of thier time violating rights. Aressting people for hate speech, stoping young people driving around the countryside and playing at empty parking lots at night. Forcing covid rules. I don't want to pay more for them to take away my freedom
Lenient. I have no expectations of protection or safety in life, thatโs 100% my responsibility.

I want strict enforcement, the problem is soon as we go down the rabbit hole of exceptions, everyone thinks they are a exception.
I want equal enforcement of laws, regardless of race, gender or anything else.
Example I dated a girl once who had never got a speeding ticket, because she could show cleavage and sweet talk her way out of them all... that is until a woman officer pulled her over for speeding.
Me? my first and ONLY speeding ticket was going for 1 mph over the speed limit.
I'd be fine with photo radar every mile, so long as the ticket goes to the driver and NOT vehicle owner. Don't think that technology exists, but at the same time. I'm okay with not even having speed limits.
Montana was pretty good when the speed limit was "Reasonable and prudent" If that is what the people want.
What I don't want is when I lived in the big city, my residential street was 25 but a straight line so people always going 40 or 50 in the 25 zone... but those same people if I happened to go in front of their house at 25, in a non straight area they'd run out and tell me I was going to fast and would run over their kids at 25... even though that was the speed limit.
I will always say we need to remove a lot of laws, but have strict enforcement of those left.
I get tired of prosecutors misusing stuff to try and get longer sentences, a guy here once held down his friend for a couple of minutes and they charged him with kidnapping. At most he should of been charged with unlawful detainment. Afterwards his now ex-friend said she would not testify, she didn't want a felony and him to go to prison she thought he'd just get a fine.
There are many laws in India still people are careless as the government only thinks of earning money through tax (I'm not saying all politicians are corrupt and bad). No really cares as a citizen unless when they are the victim. Like as a example I am saying that suppose you are my neighbor and we have pretty nice connection. One day your home got robbed and you lost most important things. So over here it is a serious issue and you complain to the cops, go to the court or do whatever you can to get your important things back and give the robber the punishment he/she deserves. So over here I wouldn't care about your problems or the way society has decreased it's standards and giving tough time to others for selfish motives. I will just be like "Ah yes I am really sorry you need to go through this. It must be very depressing to stay in such situations" and show fake sympathy or care or you can say showing pity. I will just stay in my life and think about how can I stay comfortably. After few days my home also got robbed so as a support I will try to fight with you for MY rights. Not really caring about if you got justice or not, I will only care about what I can achieve while working with you. Again saying this is a example. So you can say that this is the condition here. No one really cares expect the victim or honest Politicians, officers etc. Even though we have plenty of rules and laws but very few are taking it seriously. So basically we need the strictness here.
Laws are single sided 'arrangements' of a group, community, nation, or group of nations that aim to uphold the status quo.
They will never be ''fair'' to all.
The basic set of laws is good enough and relatively reasonable in most places.
What we DON'T need, actually: is lawyers who twist the meanings, plaintiffs who use laws for egoistic reasons, and judges who allow that.
Law enforcement... are uncritical henchmen of 'the system' at best. Nice to have them (as in: a ''guard dog'') - but they should know their place.
That would depend on so many factors and then which laws and so on.
Personally I just want the current standard. But sometimes I wish without being a hypocrite I just wish it was tougher on those who are political activists of the violent type or troll type. And those so called citizen journalists who pretend to be competitors to main media.
Sigh... urgh...🙄🙄🙄 So I wish the laws were tougher there and the police allowed to arrest such activists or such citizen journalists who stir up crowds and stuff. You know. YouTubers.
Abolish the Police. ... in my town, they take 1/2 the city budget, solve 2% of the crimes and prevent none of them. Further 20% of cops get arrested sometime during their career for doing dirt. 1/5th of all cops are active criminals in other words. And in my town, all the cops live out in the lily white suburbs and "work" in the West End where they make all the arrests, knowing less than nothing about the city they supposedly "police". They defund the city of 1/2 the budget and repatriate all that money out to the lily white suburbs. This is the actual modern version of the Klan in action.
The law needs to be less harsh and applied more often.
The current approach is to attempt to deter crime by handing down extreme punishments in the extremely rare event that something even gets to a court room.
It does not work.
The result of this is that there is defacto no law and all victims of crime and the criminals themselves realise this, the only people who dont realise this are the law abiding citizens who happen to have not been victims.
In the few cases where anyone is actually prosecuted, that persons life is utterly destroyed and when they get out of prison they may as well continue to be criminals because they are not going to get work or be part of society, reformed or not makes no difference.
I think there are plenty of laws. Too many laws.
But too many people getting away with stuff. Once somebody is busted, lawyers shouldn't be able to get them off on a technicality.
But I'd also release all the cannabis consumers from jail. That's senseless and unnecessary.
It almost doesn't matter what the police do as long as we have DAs that refuse to prosecute criminals. We taxpayers spend all of the money to have police catch the criminals, and then the DA just lets them go with no charges, so they're back on the streets within hours to commit more crimes.
And too many people think this is a good idea...
Where I live, cops no longer enforce speeding laws. This is because of Saint George Floyd. Now you have people driving 50 in a 25, with children playing. We need more cops, and stricter enforcement on laws that make sense.
But George Floyd was not arrested for speeding? Sounds like it's retaliatory move by the police tbh
@vald9inches
No, this is the governor's doing. He believes the best way to protect criminals, is by not letting cops do their job. No shit. Every time a cop is in contact with a law breaker, there's a chance that the shit could hit the fan. So what's the solution? Just don't have cops anywhere near law breakers.
Also, you legally have to have licence tabs on your plates, but cops will no longer do anything if you don't. Most people still stop at red lights, for safety reasons, but now it's more of a suggestion than a law. This was all because of Saint Floyd and BLM.
Also, if someone is breaking in your home and you call 911, you will now get the fire department responding. The governor thought that would be best, because firefighters don't carry guns.
Now, if the bad guy shoots one of the firefighters or you, then the cops are allowed to respond, once it's too late. Brilliant? But this makes sense to the voters in a blue state.
If police escalate a situation it's obviously from a lack of training or accountability. Also you don't send a hammer to fix every little problem it's COMMON SENSE which you and the your governor seem to lack... ๐คฆ
@vald9inches
What common sense am I lacking? Speeding is now OK to do. That will kill people. Are you really this dim?
@ChefPapiChulo
Do you have serious mental issues? What's wrong with you. I'm telling you that we need more laws enforced so kids don't die by morns racing on residential streets.
You could have had a brain and said that they should enforce speeding, but you didn't want to choose that route, because of your illness.
Why am I wrong for wanting police to come instead of the fire department when my home is being invaded? Do you think this is a bad thing? The sheriff went on the air and apologized to the fire department, because our retarded liberal governor now wants them to do something they have no training in. It's complete insanity. And I'm sorry if common sense hurts your feelings.
@ChefPapiChulo
Did you bother to read the question the asker asked? He asked if we wanted stricter laws, and more law enforcement. I'm not speaking for the entire world, I'm speaking for me. Yes, I do.
I laid out two reasons for that, and you and the other idiot can't figure it out. I don't want children killed because of speeders. I also don't the fire department showing up at my home invasion.
I'm talking about MY blue state, and not yours. You're entitle to post your own answer, but don't be stupid enough to tell me my opinion is wrong. And if you just can't understand any of this, then go away. You're beyond hope and a waste of time.
@ChefPapiChulo
You obviously brought a knife to a gunfight. I said I wanted to save the lives of kids, and that got you triggered.
@ChefPapiChulo
And now you're just a lonely guy who is hoping that someone wants to talk with him. Seems pathetic, but I get it. Lots of other questions you could reply to. You should give it a try. You might get lucky and find someone who wants to talk to you. Stranger things have happened.
@Nick473
I will never make the mistake of not just deleting these two idiots in the future. What kind of a world is it, when someone says they don't want cars racing in residential streets, for fear of safety, and a lib would be offended by that? I just don't get it. And it's not just children, it's dogs and cats in the street.
I don't know what triggered these two idiots. And it's true about the fire department having to now go to what used to be police calls. It's crazy, because cops don't know how to put out fires, and firefighters don't know how to deal with criminals. But the governor did this, because it makes him shine with the libs of the country. Common sense is no longer common. I wasn't surprised by that "Chef" guy, because he's a complete mental case. But I always thought that Vlad was a decent person, but I guess not.
@Nick473
I've blocked the psychotic "Chef" and deleted all of his crap. This guy is beyond repair.
I answered this question as best I could, and from my own perspective and got three downvotes. LOL
If you want to go to a site like this, with a LOT less morons, join similarworlds.
There's still morons, but nothing like GAG. And, besides, this site is on life support. It's the same tired shit asked every day, every hour. I just keep this tab open in case I see anything of interest. This question interested me, so I said what I believe. Speeding is now legal in my city.
Who would have ever thunk in a million years, that two idiots would hate my saying that?
Join SW and never look back on this land of dysfunctional freaks.
This is GAG in a nutshell
"Why can't we find a guy for a sixsome? LOL
@Nick473
You will love it. I spend 95% of my Internet time on that site, and 5% on here.
But just a warning: Don't stray beyond politics, because that's where the retarded "Chefs" are
On that site you don't post questions, you post thoughts, which could be a question if you choose.
But if you leave the safety of politics, you will get..
*I'm tired
*I'm hungry
* I like my cat
*When should I wake up?
@Datboi65
Idiot, have you ever heard of defunding cops?
@Datboi65
What state do I live in?
@Datboi65
Well do you at least know the governor I'm talking about?
None whatsoever. Complete self-responsibility. If there's a criminal (s) in your community, everyone has the right and the responsibility to deal with them the way they see appropriate, not only those who wear a uniform and have a badge. That's common sense.
But humanity as a whole is not mature enough to live freely, so they want mommy and daddy government and "law enforcers" to make up and enforce the rules.
The issue is you cannot MAKE people obey laws. You must persuade them to believe in the laws. You can MAKE you kids clean his/her room but you'll have to say it again when it is dirty very soon again. You have to get them to buy into wanting to be a clean person. Inspire them to be that way and then make an ordered plan to create habit patterns that allow for it to solidify if needed. It's how all achievement starts. Inspiration. Being inspired by someone or some idea or some experience.
Law enforcement that have guns should only be called to violent crimes or situations. Otherwise we don't need them and 99% of the time police officers will only escalate the situation to a violent one with their ego and perception that every civilian is a threat to their safety even if they are only carrying a plastic bucket lmfao 😂
Sorry I meant "blunt object" lmfao ๐
The laws are excessive, especially when it comes to fines. Many laws, such as parking stuff are only to get more income for them.
If we'd only have judges who had the cajones to stop letting criminals off with a hand slap, we might start getting somewhere.
If only we had families who were left to BE families (without bureaucratic "help"), maybe- just maybe- we'd have less criminals in the FIRST place.
I want fewer and less restrictive laws, but they need to be much more strictly enforced and violators more harshly punished.
With all the tyranny currently going on that forbid me to do basic stuff like swim in a pool as long as i want? Relaxation of the laws 100%.
Depends on the law, and how it is currently enforced.
San Francisco has become a shithole recently because you can't park your car overnight on the street without a good chance of having a window smashed. Cops won't do a thing. Walgreen's recently closed three stores there because shoplifters were just coming in and filling up bags and walking out. The DA doesn't think property crimes should be pursued.
Fuck the police, everywhere, around the entire globe. Useless violent people, with massive egos who think they can treat anyone like shit. Especially in America they are extremely racist. I'd say we'd be better off replacing them with robots and A. I. , at least we can program them to have empathy and respect for basic human rights.
^Yea that's not by accident. Its called minority oppression. And you're arrogance is called, 'white privilege'.
Normal common sense laws that should be strictly enforced.
You don't want to give government too much power because they will abuse it and you will lose a lot of freedoms because of it. Guarantee.
Interesting question. I think sometimes the police go soft on actual criminals and arrest peaceful civilians, which is what we call perverse justice.
Tougher on robbers and those who commit aggravated assault and arson, lenient on drugs and Karen business owners trespassing people.
I heard some young white girls talking about defunding the Police and empotying the prisons. They sounded very sure that it is the only fair thing to do and would make us all better and safer as a country. I think that we should try that. What could possibly go wrong?
The laws we have are just fine, but law enforcement needs to be able to be tougher in their enforcement of the law. We expect law enforcement to doo too much with too many restrictions.
Neither what we need are clear and fair laws that people can respect.
We also need educated and trained officers, upholding the law is difficult enough, but with tons of videos out there of untrained and uneducated officers out there, the good officer get get bad reputation.
Stricter laws. If Iโm not a criminal, then I have nothing to worry about. It just makes the area in which I reside safer for me and my family.
Itโs a double edged sword, we need tough laws and enforcement, but the cops really need to chill when dealing with non threatening people.
We need to have rational laws, and stop hiring racist sociopaths as police.
It depends on the law. Some I don't want changed but there are some I want weakened or completely gone.
I want laws on the books that are based on GOD's laws and values, and based on the premise of Liberty, and the Constitution that our Founding Fathers gave us.
And I believe these laws should be fairly and firmly enforced
@zagor All the laws we have in the USA are supposed to be based on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence... which are all supposed to be implemented according to the 10 Commandments and Biblical Scripture.
There should be a standard and that standard needs to be upheld to have a civil and peaceful society but on the contrary there are some laws that they can be more relaxed on which are usually odd or miscellaneous
I'd rather them have the laws we have properly enforced.
If law is not respected, crime will only rise. That's why we have cops
Depends on the laws and how they'll be enforced.
Thank you! Someone with common sense! You don't need a fucking hammer for every little problem!
Or a gun for that matter! Lmfao ๐
Depends on what areas.
Tougher on drug dealers, softer on drug users.
