Why do black people always assume other people are racist?

I am not a racist person , This is just something that happen at the store where I work at. So one of the sales associate was having a hard time with this customer lady over a coupon the customer lady went all Karen mode and ask to speak for a manager. I went to check and see what was going on with the transaction when I look at the coupon it was expired mind you the coupon expire on August 20 . I told the lady that I apologise for the inconveniences I never offended or attacked the customer I only explained that we couldn't take the coupon because it had expired date. She called me a racist got angry as to why I couldn't do price change then later went off asked me if her skin color bother me then went off screaming that she was going to report me to corporate for being racist. I was confused at first this woman calls me a racist because I did not take her expire coupon.

I don't know if your able to understand this, but when your in the shoes of a black person (especially a black women because not a lot of black men stick up for them the way they should) you have to realize that most of the time the majority of people are unconciuosly trying to screw us over thanks to their preconceived biases and prejudices. They are more prone to thinking we aggressive or mean and treat us accordingly - holding us to an unfair and unrealistic standard of not making any mistakes or saying that we're ghetto for doing the exact same things that they do. Therefore we have to become that confrontational or angry stereotype and constantly watch our back to make sure others know that they are not aloud to do that - around us and sadly a lot of times it has to be said with a stern voice and not as nicely for them to understand

Especially with the older generation of black parents, I hope you can understand that they grew up in a time right after the civil rights act where sadly it was still acceptable to treat black people like trash to the majority of white Americans. They grew up in that toxic racially charged environment and had to learn to call out that behavior when it happened (so that it doesn't happen again), they also felt very pressured to conform as well as people would come down on them for making even the slightest of mistakes.

Sometimes it can be exhausting as a black person knowing where to draw that line of (are they treating me differently or is this an appropriate response to the situation? Would they react in this way if John the blonde ever did the same thing? Etc) but the one misconception that most white people have about black people is that we WANT to see race in everything -> the truth is we don't either.

I'm sure you are a good person, but it would be foolish of black people to ignore the fact the people of lighter skin complexions are more prone to see them in a negative light and most importantly ACT on those assumptions. For some black people they can tolerate that unfairness and accept the blame even when it's not their fault - but for others it's better to stand up for yourself then be seen in a positive light out of self respect and so we have to constantly analyze these situations in order to come to the best response (not to see race on everything)

But we do get tired of often having to do this with so many other bad people that we can mix up the good with the bag or make poor judgment calls on a person's intentions (like what that lady did to you), and for some in the older generation admitting to making that mistake just feels as if we're validating or giving a leg up to all the people who already hate us.

I'm sure that lady new deep down that that was wrong, but was afraid to have even more things held against her then she has as a black person on a daily basis.

This isn't to justify her actions but rather give perspective

A conditioned emotional response based upon prior beliefs of parents and their environment. It's power some use to get what they want, a conditioned emotional response... based in... sadness, dis honor? In essence, I think it's sadness driving it from being devalued. It's clearly... false.

Not all think like that, but it is a question that arrises in some minds... the simple answer that is convenient. I was mistreated, I couldn't use race as an explanation, I had to find other reasons. I was once a victim of racial bias... In my perception.

Seriously yesterday I was at a corner store and this black dude wanted 50 cent off two small orange juice because he said it was "hot" the Indian man touched the bottles and looked at him funny and confused, they had words between each other and the guy left and he left the two orange bottles at the counter and didn't return back to the freezer.

The Indian man asked me to touch the bottles to see if it was hot, man the bottle was cold.

This black man just wanted to start drama with the clerk and get a cheap deal for the juices.

Key word "always" makes you sound racist. I for one I'm a negro. I've never done that. None of my family/friends have ever done that, or know someone who did. What you're doing is cherry-picking cases where you saw one Black person lash out, all of a sudden they "always" do it. If I tell you how many times I was called a monkey or an ape in school growing up, and in public as an adult, and then say White people always do that, you will cry saying that I'm generalizing, while in truth racism from White people is a lot more common than a Black person falsely accusing a White person of racism.

It was out of hand as you described it. If the coupon is expired, it’s expired. It has nothing to do with her being black or racism.

A lot of peoples judgment seems to be rather clouded on this issue. The bottom line is we are all responsible for ourselves and actions and no one else and often poor decisions and life decisions are the real cause for many blacks having difficulty where they blame racism instead. Many blacks are their own worst enemies as opposed to racism.

The stats are off the carts for blacks in regards to income, out of wedlock births, crime, unemployment, fathers being present in the home and other factors. Instead of looking at those issues as a group and taking personal accountability for the individuals roles in these issues and making different choices, we hear racism as the cause of black poverty and lack of success often enough.

If I am caught committing a crime and go to jail, whose fault is that? Mine? The cops? Racism? If I did not commit a crime there would be nothing to catch right?

Same thing with out of wedlock births. Who decided to let someone impregnate them? Who chose a man who would not be a present and good father impregnate them? Is race to blame? No. It was personal choice that led to that. When you take accountability for your actions you can change future outcomes. When you blame everyone and everything but you there is no chance for change.

Having a criminal record will make it difficult to have a good income typically. Having one or more children that a person can’t afford and doing it with someone incapable or unwilling to financially support a child will help lead to poverty.

Currently blacks are the race with the greatest unemployment. Not having a job will lead to poverty.

Bear in mind, not all blacks are like this but enough are and it’s shows in the statistics.

Yet, people continually tell blacks the reason they face all these difficulties is racism. Never poor choices.

I never said that you supported slavery anywhere in my post. I said it because it came of as very dismissive. Sometimes there's real racism that occurs, and then people just chalk it off to you pulling off "the Black card" whatever that means. You see, I'm not denying what that lady did was wrong. However, if you want to compare how often that happens, vs real racism, then the answer is that racism happens more frequently. I have never done that, neither have my friends or family members. Have I seen it happen though? Yes, once in a bus, but that's about it. I have however experienced plenty of racism growing up, and I do still go through it from time to time.
