5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. My wife and I won't be traveling because traveling is no fun these days. Plus we refuse to get jabbed and don't really care to be in close contact with those who have because there's a chance that they can transfer some of the eugenics material in their bodies to others. We refuse to mask, and don't want to get hassled by Nazis who want to "see our papers".
A lot of the gatherings that we have gone to for years during the Christmas season and on New Years won't be happening because those people are completely paranoid covidiots who are afraid of all human contact, including people who are vaxed. They are afraid to live for fear of dying.
But we do have a few old friends who are not idiots and we've made even more over the past 18 months. So I'm sure we'll get together for dinners and celebrations with different groups of friends throughout the Christmas season. Last year we went to a friend's house for Christmas dinner (before the jab was available) and, gasp, we sat right next to each other, talked, laughed, sang, hugged, and not one person was wearing a mask. Funny how nobody got sick and we're all still alive.22 Reply

u +1 yMy problem with the holidays is this:
My stepfather is 91 years old and a bigoted redneck. He does not like foreigners. His grandson married a Filipino girl and at the wedding reception, he asked his grandson, "what's wrong? Couldn't get an American girl to marry you?" When asked why he made such a rude comment, his "defense" was "If I think of something to say, I have to say it." When I showed him a picture of my girlfriend, his immediate response was "she's not very pretty, is she?"
My girlfriend is Chinese, but now a US citizen. Why should I take her around my step-father and risk him saying anything stupid to her, or to me? My mother won't go anywhere without my stepfather, so I can't take my girlfriend to any family functions. I occasionally (every two weeks) have dinner with my mom an stepfather while my girlfriend stays at home, so I still see my mom.
What would you do?23 Reply- +1 y
@OlderAndWiser I'm sorry you're in that situation. :(
5.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I sense that Holidays will be sad this year. Europeans and Americans are acting as if the pandemic is over and some as if there's no virus at all. We all want this nightmare to be over but it's not yet. We won't get rid of this virus while people live in denial and are selfish.

+1 yWe are in reasonably decent shape.
My wife is a Counselor, so as long as people have problems, she will have a job!
Too bad that the insurance companies are CUTTING how much she makes per session., but at least we are self-employed and we do not require masks on ourselves. :- ).
The number of people coming to our church's weekly Food Pantry has increased 30-50% in the last couple of weeks, if that is any indication.
Lliam said it quite well, and also described our situation nicely.
Our church had about 60+% of us "sick" in January, 2020. No fever, no cough, no problem breathing, no sniffles- just felt like we were hit by a truck- a BIG truck- for a couple of weeks. A year later, none of those people were getting sick, just others who felt OK in January 2020, or some who even got the jab! So, a large number of our friends probably have a decent level of natural immunity, the best kind.
We will have Thanksgiving on Saturday following, and then we will have Christmas Day. I'm starting to lay in special food items - cranberries, special kind of corn the kids like- so the cost doesn't hit us all at once.00 Reply 26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It will be a sad holiday this year. More and more places are banning Christmas Celebrations because they do not want anyone to be offended. The massed up situation with the supply chain will cause fist fights in many stores as people fight over the last "Chatty Cathy" doll. Fentanyl will be a bigger problem that ever wit the drug virtually flowing unchecked across the southern border. This will result in more ODs. Unemployment is still running rampant in the country. The numbers are fixed to look good but they do not reflect the number of people who are unemployed whose benefits have run out. Basically a good time to be had by all.

1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. My younger bother and I where raised by a single mother with cancer. So shit holidays are pretty much the norm. We went to the dollar store and got a frozen dinner for Christmas the majority of years when I was growing up. So that is what I will do this year. Probably will do the same for Thanksgiving. So if things get worse doing the worse during the holidays I'll be reminded that it isn't the first time and I'll be ready to fight before it like my Mother, brother and I did before.

Past challenges can help prepare you for future ones. So reliving my childhood holidays is more or less a good way to remind myself that fighting forward through a river of shit isn't anything new. Though in a way I'm glad when I meet someone that is having issues pushing forward. Because you get really good at doing it by being forced to do it and more then likely more then once. That and honestly is swimming through shit something that anyone really wants to be good at?

+1 yKProbably
Not for me, it's the best time of the year but is there going to be anything to actually buy with it is a good question
Between my father now having his car on the road and a decent public transportation network that should logically be alright
Neither affects me given I'm self-employed and any slight financial issues can be rapidly alleviated with an envelope to the refinery21 Reply 1.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I have a government job.
Essential personnel.
I'm not feeling the pain so many others have.
I'm very grateful.
The holidays... I'm a bit of a grinch.
I don't like decorations.
Travel during the busy season...😝.
I just want to be surrounded by my little family... but they need more than just a grumpy dad so we compromise.21 ReplyW can get hunt up on the lack of pretty things or we can enjoy the damn ham and turkey. Mind passing the green bean casserole and stuffing Paris? Thanks love 😘
