It’s not wrong to be proud of being “white”
It’s just being “white” means something different in regards to heritage.

Most people are proud of their country or town or culture. People usually aren’t proud of their race or skin color. Black Americans and other descendants of slaves all over the world have a common history in their families being subjugated under white supremacy, a social and political tool used by European colonizers to consolidate power while expanding their empires.

Because of this history, people aren’t celebrating the color of their skin, but rather the struggle people had to overcome because someone else has a problem with their skin color and they are just being proud despite that.

White supremacy has been a big issue in the United States since the birth of the nation. White folks were angry when black people had success and killed them. Lynchings and murders were common in the south. The k k k was made up of civilian and police. Eugenics and other means of justifying treating white and black people differnetly go back to the confederacy and states trying to keep slavery legal. Rich people needed to turn the public for slavery. Most southerners were poor whites BUT the wealthy plantation owners tricked them into dyin for their war by making it about “culture” so usually when people say “white power” they are referring to a white Nationalist or supremacists ideology.

You can be proud of your families heritage and accomplishments. You can be proud of the collective strife you and your community and similar ones have gone through. But nobody is just proud of being their race for no reason. They are excercising pride because they had their rights taken away. And unfortunate it was by white people for a lot of cultures. British army colonized most of the world overall. Spain and France too. Belgium some.

History is complicated and we can move forward. The only problem is if white pride is looking back, then that’s wrong. Harvesting prosperity by stealing it from others isn’t rights. That’s nothing to be proud of. But the ability to come together and move forward is something to be proud of.

I notice of Facebook and Fox News like TC and SH that they say weird stuff. Like brown and black people want to” take over “ or replace white people or treat them like they were treated. That’s all some white supremcisits scare tactics. Unfortunate we are so divided people believe it if they have no other connection to people different from them. That’s the downside of being surrounded by one idea or thinking or culture, you don’t know what other people are actually like or what’s being exaggerated or lies about on tv.

These are good conversations to have. We see “left” vs “right” but that’s just a disctraction. It’s naive to believe one side is right and one is wrong. One can’t be good and one evil. That’s too simple.

I wouldn't say it's wrong. I just don't know anyone who genuinely does outside of those who are say from Nordic cultures and trace back what their people did. Or some other non American white culture.

When it's not that the only people who say that are doing it to poke fun at or spite people of other races who talk about personal pride. If someone says Mexican Pride. Totally get it. Cuban Pride. Totally get it. Black Pride Totally get it.

When someone says White Pride tho it brings up images of Hitlerian Great White Race type people. Hitler the Nazis, The Aryan Brotherhood kinda ruined that for all of you. Because they took it on first and put it in the dirt.

While yes you can do it. I'm just saying that's the image you guys gotta break through and having guys that do it doing it solely in spite of other races repping pride doesn't help the image.

It's marketing really. Take back the image and make it something good. Because realistically the only people talking about White Pride are white nationalists that are straight up white supremacist racists. If you can't understand that it's not anyone else's problem. That's just what it is.

I personally think that this post won't make anyone think about the ancestry of an individual. More that this post could if taken seriously upset or invoke feelings of anger.

As a person of colour I don't feel hate. I like to think of life with an optimistic outlook. People say we are the masters of our own lives. And we make a choice everyday to be good or bad.

We also live in a modern civilisation where we are better educated, better equipped and better able to make decisions that hopefully won't have such detrimental effects on the generations after us. And if we are aware of them we have the power to change that.

Their story and the pain is the past, their lives, their sacrifice for my freedom does not go without great and deep appreciation. But I would not be the person I am today without that history, and nor would you.

Maybe I'm foolish. But I cannot punish a neighbour for a crime committed years ago that they didn't have their hands in. If they are open and willing, living along side me is a sign that I and they are equals. That we can coincide without needing to oppress or harrass one another.

If more people took this approach and minded their own business, or made use of the air time people give them productively maybe they could influence for positivity.

I made a post and again so many people focused on the negative.
there's more to life than just pain.

I'm a very white white girl with extremely long extremely light blonde almost white hair longer than I am tall and very bright blue eyes and I'm very proud of being blonde hair blue eyed and white.
Why shouldn't I be. We're the most beautiful women in the world. Men love us and women envy us and want to look like us. We're also the most intelligent. No blonde especially black women are sooo jealous of us. I most certainly wouldn't want to be a black woman. Black women are so ugly dumb and smell bad and look like monkeys and smell like shit and have such bad ugly hair.
I am most certainly not racist. I'm happily married to and have kids with a very dark black man and I wouldn't be married to and have kids with a black man if I was racist.
Being proud of being white doesn't make one racist just like being married to and having kids with a black man doesn't mean a white girl is ashamed of being white. I'm a blonde hair blue eyed white girl married to a black man and most certainly not racist and am very proud of being blonde hair blue eyed and white. Blacks especially black women tend to be the most racist people of all. Black women hate white women especially blonde hair blue eyed white girls and always get so jealous and hateful when they see me with my black husband and black kids.

It’s one thing proud of your family heritage like Irish, Italian, French or even American. Positive things that have history such as accomplishments, food, music , etc. saying I’m proud to be American is absolutely safe. Examples for the good things such as remembering our veterans for WW2 , our space race to the moon, our music , our technological accomplishments, etc.

Saying being proud to be white is a bit like what do you mean by that? People who usually say that are usually white nationalists or KKK members.

it’s about being proud of who you are as a person, proud of you family, your region, your culture and your country.

none of the above matter in regards to skin colour, everyone can be proud of their region irrespective of ethnic background.

i regularly chat to Vietnamese, Arab, Persian, Kenyan Geordies who was very proud to come from the North East, to speak proper and to be a Geordie.

for the states I guess the same is true for say a New Yorker, I’ve never heard anyone say ‘I’m proud to be a white New Yorker, or A Black New Yorker’

I don't think it is wrong to be proud to be white. it is a good thing to be happy with yourself somehow. however keep it discrete, so that you may not come off as racist to others, because reality is, that all through history white people have become great in this world through slavery and destruction of nations. not every one is racist or capable to do the things many white people did and still do remain in power. I think you should be happy with yourself but also be careful with how you portray yourself in your society, and try to understand how others feel. focus on the good aspects of being white, like your culture, music, art, movies, food, and others. try to be kind to people and understanding. the best way to be likable when you're white, is to show others that even though you did not experience their life sufferings , you still comprehend their struggles and be courteous and accepting always in regards to skin color.

Still some people has an accept what Martin Luther King Jr did between whites and blacks coming together and loving each other they prefer to date people within their race. It seems certain people such as parents would be against their child or sibling to be dating someone outside of their race. Simply put our society has changed the notion that being proud of the fact that you're white is wrong. This unfortunately stems from the oppressive nature of our ancestors, and is really more of a black versus white issue. While we all have different aspects to our ancestry, we still get hung up on our skin tone. Most white Americans are mutts, a combination of different aspects of History. So we can't necessarily pigeonhole ourselves into saying oh I'm Italian-American or I'm irish-american when we may also have German French etc etc. So while it would be easy to say that I'm proud to be American, because of our hangup on skin tone, if you say you're proud to be a white American you're going to be demonized for it. It's easier to simply say that your Southern, you're a New Yorker, a redneck or a hillbilly. It's simply less taboo that way.

White Pride is not the same thing as Black Pride, for example. One is a well established hate group, and the other is trying to lift the morale of a subjugated group.
