For the world has a whole, as of 2020, of the 7.8 billion people on the planet, 50.42% are male versus 49.58% female. That's 65 million more males than females.
Why is that?
My opinion is two-fold:
1. The largest country, China, with a population of about 1.4 billion (8% of the world's population) had for many years a one-child policy favoring boys over girls (often aborted).
2. In poorer countries (which is about half of the world's population) many women die in childbirth.
But the statistics in the United States are the opposite. As of 2019, out of a population of about 350 thousand, 51.1% are female while 48.9% are male, meaning 5 million more females.
I have no idea why there are more females in the US, other than to say it's always been that way, with males dying more often due to disease at a young age and more males than females losing their lives in dangerous jobs and wars.

I'm not sure who wrote it but few years ago I read that some economist somehow concluded that from a productivity perspective 103 men for every 100 is the perfect ratio. It was an interesting read. If there there are more men than that it causes too much of a competition and men get depressed and withdraw from society which isn't too productive in most cases. But too many women somehow also increase depression among men, I can't recall how and I couldn't find the writing eversince. So the gender ratio of most western countries with slightly more men is what indeed considered to be balanced.

That's an interesting theory. I've seen the reverse, where 2-3% more women than men is ideal for reproduction, on the basis that some men impregnate more than one woman. Hence, you need more women than men.

Yes, there is. But it's not due to that. It's just due to genetic imbalance, with a little bit of low global birthrates right now, to add to it.
As of right now, in every Western, First World country, there's like 52% adult males to 48% adult females (although more females when you count minors under the age of 18). This means, even if all women were straight (sadly, few seem to be nowadays) and all women could find something desirable/marriage-worthy in men, and every woman sought to marry a man out there, there would still be a lot of men who would just die alone, no matter what they did. ... And we don't even live in a society full of perfect, heterosexual women.
At least Egypt and India has more women than men, and most Indian women are ladylike, classy, and dignified unlike the typical Western chick nowadays. You want to talk about blackpills, though... Yeah, that statistic is one hell of a blackpill.

The ratio is always in flux. There is no guarantee a child's gender. We have came up with ways to increase the chances of a child being one gender or the other. But these methods are still not granted. So the ratio is always changing. It might be more men then women but only for a sec before it flits to more women then men. Simply because people are being born around the world every sec of every day and that has always been a constant thing.

I don't think it's as simple as a ratio ether. This the kind of things that really needs to be taken on a individual bases. So in the end we might be come with some averages. But not a definite answer. Because it creates a situation where a variable will have several variables attached to it. You can send a guy on a date with five women. He gets turned down for a second date from all five and the reason for him not getting a second date with any of the could vary from woman to woman.
Actually it’s social media connecting more people then ever. The ratio is pretty balanced 49% male 51% female. But now women have accept to all men. A random girl from a small town can get flown out on a rich guys dime and treated like a queen then she comes back thinking all men should be able to do this. It’s unrealistic.
But things balance out eventually. Women will learn when men don’t care anymore. “Where have all the men gone” is trending. Did you hear about the woman in Philadelphia raped on a crowded train at 10am and not a single person helped or called 911. Some even recorded. I wonder how long it will take before women will stop trying to be men and will grow the fuck up.

I’m not an expert but I think the gender of the child is determined by the man’s genes. Like my friend told me in her husbands family, the offspring have been 100% male for at least 7 generations. In my moms family, my cousins always have two kids, one male and one female and in my dads family, the children all look like their mother or their grandmother but none look like their fathers. We are mixed, half female and half male among us 8 cousins and me. On my moms side, one side of the brain is larger than the other in basically everyone and on my dads side, there is a history of heart disease and liver disease and we are all ambitious and forceful.

You're right. The male determines the sex. Each sperm is either male or female and whichever sex reaches the egg first determines the sex of the child. It's a 50/50 split on which sperm reaches the egg first because the male sperm is faster and more aggressive but tires and dies quicker than the female sperm which is slower and more focused. but half the time is beat to the egg by the quicker male sperm.

It's just a number of factors: Are you attractive? Confident? Interesting? Are you focused more on studies or work than you are on finding someone? Are you someone like me who finds more purpose and meaning taking enjoyment out of friendships and pets than he does interpersonal relationships? There are so many things that can impact it all it's just as simple as broiling it down to "men now die less and women aren't as numerous".
Also important to note is that men actually DON'T die less now. Blood pressure, stress, stroke, heart disease and all kinds of other factors have still remained painfully relevant as ever to ensure that, nope, your odds of dying before your spouse as a man are still significantly more likely than the reverse even well into the 2020s.

I'm not entirely sure. Some men seem to be in relationships and still having affairs with other women. So just through experience it feels that way.
The statistics do show more and more men and women remain single for longer. They have concluded this being closely linked to financial status.

Yes it seems the number of of men will be slightly higher in the long run. There are other interesting characteristics, for example women have a more average intelligence, while men have slightly more hyperintelligent individuals and also more complete morons. Nature is playing it safe with women and experimenting more wildly with men.

Yes , too many males is not good for anyone of either gender. Women being harassed by " thirsty " excess males , and the those same males likely sexually very frustrated , which affects men almost exclusively , as men are typically cursed with much higher libidos than women. It's only in China, India and the middle East men outnumber women, and that's only because of their welfare policy, or lack thereof.
Women and girls outnumber men and boys, not only because far more men and boys die than women and girls, but also because women biologically give birth to very slightly more girls, possibly because a woman is more likely to miscarry a boy than a girl.
The reason why it appears from your perspective men outnumber women in regards to dating, is simply because women biologically have higher standards, and because of that a percentage of them are willing to share the desirable men via polyamory and such.
Men still die more early than women or scientifically speaking they love for less person years. You could say that it's lifestyle choices and habitual differences and that is certainly not wrong. But it's not the entire story. Because even if you control for all the variables that predict mortality and life expectancy, then still, men live for less person years overall. This trend is even visible in stillbirth rates and in infant mortality. So this difference exists even where lifestyle can't even logically make a difference yet.

Yeah--that's definitely true. On average people have twice as many female ancestors as male ancestors. You get a situation like that if for instance all women have two kids and half of men father 4 kids while half of men father none. Obviously it's not quite as neat as that but on average that's what history tells us.
You'll also notice that social situations we find desirable tend to have female to male ratio that's a fair bit higher than one to one. For instance if you're throwing a big party it tends to be a good idea to have at least two girls for every dude. Nightclubs are also aware of this and try to maintain a good ratio.

While it's true that men died more in wars historically compared to today, it's also true that all-cause mortality for both men and women was significantly higher up until around the late 20th century. Census data shows that the male female ratio has stayed relatively constant. Even in countries with a larger disparity, it still caps out around 60/40 one way or the other.

It’s true that the world isn’t anywhere near as dangerous as it was even a century ago. However, the life expectancy of men is still lower than women. Possibly because men are more likely to take the more dangerous jobs and willing to risk dying there to provide more resources for their family.
That's interesting. I only know that in my town there's more women than men. I would imagine that because of WWI and WW2, there's more women (because all the men had to go to war), but that happened more than 50 years ago, anything could've changed

Statistically The population is skewed toward women. The makeup of the U. S is 52% women and 48% men according to the 2020 census. So there are approx. 7 million more women than men in total. That doesn't account for our individual bubbles, though.
Statistically there are more women than men, so I'm not sure where you're getting the information to the reverse. And while men did die in wars and hunting, women would die in childbirth. So maybe it evened out way back in the past? I'm not sure

No. Boys are born a bit more often than girls, but women live longer than men, so in overall the number is quite similar. Only in some countries (like China, due to one-child-policy) there is more men than women.
There is a small imbalance with more men. But this is typically very small. Plus, basically every North American, South America, European, Central Asian countries have more women than men.
As women become sexually promiscuous they tend to sleep with the same men. So that means they are not sleeping with other men. But the men they sleep with do not marry them because they are hos and have lots of women themselves so they have no need to wife a ho.
