To "man up" here refers to telling boys and men to suck it up, to swallow their emotions and not express them. To bottle up all their frustration and that the only legitimate way to vent, is the most destructive way - aggression.

that's not true. toxic masculinity teaches men to suppress emotions instead of dealing with them, causing a lack of emotional intelligence which negatively impact the relationships that they have with their significant others

I refuse to get into a physiological discussion of what is real and not with people's view of their world. You either inherently understand it or you don't.
