Yes, they should be in prison. The law is the law and you can't ignore that just because the criminals were "justified." The law can't be thrown out the window just because you like/dislike those accused.
However, I'd give them the minimum sentence possible; maybe a year or so. The possibility of life without parole for murdering a pedophile is way over the line. Guy must've been someone rich and powerful, if they're trying to throw the book at them.
So yeah, both sides are going too extreme with this. They can't get off the hook for murder, but trying to give them life in prison for ridding the world of a pedophile rapist scumbag is too much, as well.11 Reply- +1 y
Yep 1y sounds good, id be willing to sacrifice 1y to kill someone who rape my family member.

+1 yWell, it’s the same thing as if a person killed the serial killer that killed their beloved.
Just because a crime was committed against you doesn’t mean you can act outside of the justice system in place where you live.
A process of evidence-gathering is required, as well as a lengthy process of fact finding, questioning, etc.
This ensures that the guilty are indeed guilty and innocent are indeed innocent.
People talking justice into their own hands hasn’t really had good outcomes throughout time and even today in many parts of the world.
People get emotional and angry.
This clouds their logic and judgment
Perhaps makes them miss important pieces of evidence or not consider them.31 Reply- +1 y
You must be a pedo yourself if you feel sympathy for the guy who was killed
+1 yI would set them free, sad that they have to go to prison for seeking justice for what he did to their sister. But it's funny how an underage teen stolen a car, driving while drunk, hit 2 people the person that tried to be a hero and save the other person from getting hit, he was killed. Did he go to jail? No, all because his mommy and daddy was rich and they begged the judge how he shouldn't get in trouble because he will be afraid to be jailed.

+1 yEh, Most child molesters short of killing a child get smacks on the wrist "rehabilitated" then released back out on street to attack another child. so this was the best possible outcome. to bad these boys had to go to jail over the piece of shit they killed but alas all actions have consequences.

Folks these days have no backbone and just want everyone to be redeemed or get jail time for all crimes, no matter how heinous. That is absolutely naive because there are people in this society who deserve no pity, especially child murderers and rapists.
Unfortunately, the law fails society all the time. Rapists go free after so many years or never see jail at all, some murderers see less time than drug dealers, et cetera. Time and time again, criminals just go right back into the system. Jail means nothing to many of these criminals. It's a playground where they sit pretty. You think prison will change many of them? Doubtful. Stats show otherwise. Death is better for more than half of 'em.
If it were up to me, I'd be bringing out corporal punishment and use it without mercy. In the Anglo-Saxon and Norse world, throughout the medieval ages, if a wrong was committed upon your family such as your sister being raped, you could rightfully kill that person or at least force a duel.00 Reply- 414 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yWhat they did was wrong what he did wrong, but they took the law into their own hands I do not have all the information on this case therefore I cannot say if anyone is right or wrong. I wonder if anybody has taken the time to wonder if the man they say did it did not do it I AM NOT SAYING THAT HE DID NOT DO IT I DO NOT KNOW THE CASE I AM JUST GOING TO ASK. What would they say if they found out that the man, they killed was not the person they thought? I have always pondered that vigilante justice was wrong and the wrong person killed what do you say to that family oops sorry we made a mistake how do you make that right. If they did kill, then they belong in jail for a long time if proof was that ironclad, then let the courts handle it. Ilike many are not privy to all information out there to make a life and death decision I would always wonder if I was wrong on an irreversible decision because I did not have all the information that one piece that said he did not to it
10 Reply They should be in prison and everyone who says otherwise is a fascist imbecile.
"Two Texas brothers and a friend who were arrested for beating their stepfather to death after he was accused of sexually abusing their half-sister."
ACCUSED. He wasn't found guilty, he was accused, if I accused the OP of a crime can my friends beat her to death.
What the hell is wrong with you retards? How have so many of you forgotten what Due Process of law is? It's literally a human right.
You're the reason innocent people get lynched. It's the same crap Women used to pull too, having black boys get lynched by screaming rape.
Due Process is not negotiable.00 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yhow should they not? They weren't stopping the guy in the middle of his crime. They sought him out and became the aggressors, which is against the law. It's bullshit when judges give women the excuse of "temporary insanity" when she kills her husband or boyfriend for something like cheating on her, and it's bullshit to call it "temporary insanity" when people track down a criminal and torture/kill him. Revenge killing is not protected by the law in CIVILIZED nations, nor should it be for good reason.
10 Reply671 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I definitely think the punishment should be given for taking the law into their own hands. Because it could have easily been a case of mistaken identity. We humans don't tend to be the most in-depth thinkers when we're emotional.
But I think that if they actually killed the guy responsible, then their punishment shouldn't be as severe as if he was innocent.00 ReplyMurder is murder. If you get caught for committing the crime, then you should do the time. The correct path would have been to arrest the rapist, give them a fair trial, and if the evidence supports that he commit the crime, then lock him up for 20 or so years as punishment.
02 Reply- +1 y
The 8th Amendment prohibits any punishment that is excessively “cruel and unusual,” and which is “grossly disproportionate” to the crime. The Supreme Court held that the death penalty could not be applied to non-homicidal crimes. Thus the vigilantly justice the boys dealt out to the father is unjust. He committed a horrible crime, but the law would not condone the death penalty in such a crime, and definitely not condone citizens taking the death penalty into their own hands and beating him 3 times over multiple days slowly to death. That is cruel and unusual punishment and grossly disproportionate to the crime carried out by people who are not responsible to uphold the law.

+1 yTwo wrongs don't make a right. If this type of justice becomes tolerated, then eventually everyone will accuse everyone of crimes then beat kill them as punishment, whether they are guilty or not. It's the type of justice we sought to push away from in favor of judgement by trial instead of mob rule.

I beg to differ. While two wrongs don't make a right he deserved this.

Then let the prisoners deal with him. Prisoners find out he committed a crime against a child, he is gonna be public enemy #1. And they will find out I guarantee you. He will be begging for death by the time they're done with him.

Every other person convicted of a revenge crime has gone to jail. Why should they be any different. Of course the judge should be lenient. But we keep being told to leave these matters to law enforcement.10 Reply Although it's understandable why they did it it's still illegal. The US constitution also guarantees everyone the due process of law. This may come as a shock to conservatives but there's more to the US constitution than just the 1st and 2nd amendments.

+1 yHonestly what does prison even accomplish. Literally the reason they killed the man is because prison doesn't do enough in the first place so we use it to jail the good people standing up for others because of some sort of moral? I'm not sure of all the context here but it's fuckin dumb that they do what everyone would want to do if they were literally in that same scenerio.

+1 yDo we know for a fact this man did that? If they walked in on him doing it then fine but vigilantism is not on when a court should handle this. Just look at all the nonsense metoo allegations like brett Kavanagh. Sorry just someone saying someone did something is not enough. Argue it in court.

+1 yThey basically jus did policeman's work, I mean sure the system wouldn't kill him straight away, he would be put him on death row for years and then eventually kill him, but what difference does it make? They killed him sooner so what... They only did a policeman's job, give them a medal

1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. They should be punished under the law, with the judge keeping in mind that it was a crime of passion.
We can't just set aside anti-vigilante laws because a minor got raped. If that's the case, why have such laws in the first place?00 Reply
