+1 yDon't tell your mother about who you vote. Who you vote is entirely confidential and up to you. If it puts your well-being at rusk please handle the situation carefully as possible and if you cannot get away from the person just tell them things they want to hear to keep yourself safe. Personally, I vote fairly progressively. I'm Australian and I vote Greens and sometimes Labor as my usual parties and put the more conservative ones at the bottom. We have a federal election here in Australia this year and I won't be discussing politics with any conservative family members to save myself any problems.

The point at which you cast your vote should be secret, so vote for who you like and just tell your mom that you voted for her candidate. She will never know. You are entitled to keep your ballot paper private. If she insists on seeing it, she's breaking the law.

+1 yYes we dont talk and haven't in years. Its hard to get along when one half of your family are all business owners and investors working hard to make money and the other half are like artists and things who go around saying things like "eat the rich" and that capitalists are slave owners and need to be beheaded.
Smh.
Politics is an extension of your morals and values. The reason we are where we are today is because for decades people thought "oh it doesn't matter" when really it does.00 Reply
+1 yNo, that isn't right, if they choose to side with one side or another, that's their decision. Hating people over that is very toxic and quite the poisonous attitude.

If you are voting for Biden or any crazy democrats, then yes you should get kicked out the house for destroying the economy. Shutting down the pipeline and relying on Russia for oil, open borders allowing 10+ million illegals that are probably covid positive in the country, spending trillions of dollars on useless stimulus checks which dramatically increased inflation and taxes, forced mandates and vaccines causing millions to lose jobs, and spending billions of dollars on useless programs and political attacks against trump. We won’t survive long with these terrible policies.

+1 yI wouldn't discuss these things if I believed it would cause fighting. The idea who I vote for should cause a rift with family is awful, and somewhat deranged. Family argues and splits up all the time, many times for petty reasons. But over politics - that would be the height of stupidity.

+1 yI have two cousins that are die hard democrats to the point they will aggressively defend deadbeat politicians like Pelosi for no other reason than she is a woman. I don't hate them because they vote democrat, I hate them because they are so unbelievably toxic and arrogant in their beliefs they have to talk down to anyone who has even a mildly contrary opinion to their own.

+1 yI believe that people should vote for candidates that best fit their own values and opinions. It's okay to prefer candidates in your own party, and perfectly acceptable to vote for another party's candidate if you believe that candidate is better.
People who vote strict party lines are, in my opinion, like lemmings who blindly jump off a cliff because other lemmings jumped.10 Reply 897 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, I come from a family where political topics are eagerly discussed we agree on fundamental aspects of politics as a family but have different opinions on the way how to get there. My sister and I voted for different parties in the last elections and there is no hate between us because of that.
00 Reply5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Voting for a different party doesn't matter.
Openly endorsing and/or participating in criminal activity while using political talking points as an excuse is another story. Being a professional mooch off the system and a perpetual victim is also another story.00 Reply
+1 yOf course not! Political view is dependant on a lot of different factors, and for your mother to react in that manner I would say is simply childist and immature. Vote your opinion, just make sure that it's and informed opinion and not a sudden realisation from a 30 sec. TV commercial.
00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Relatives that vote democrat are immoral bad people. Not just voting, but their behavior in general is very immoral, dishonest, backstabbing to others, cheaters/unfaithful, etc. I won't have anything to do with people like that. No democrats are allowed in my house.
00 Reply3.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I vote for the person that I feel would do the most good. Regardless of how little it may be!
It is none of your mother’s business who you might vote for. But she Is right on par with the divided country that we live in. Making threats if you don’t vote for her candidate.00 Reply- 6.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yMy mom voted for Trump
I voted for Trump
One brother and wife and two kids voted for Trump
One brother and his wife and son voted Biden
My Mom's sisters voted for Trump and one husband voted Trump
My cousins on Mom's side all voted for Trump
My Dad's side I have no clue. I would say split00 Reply 3.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. A private vote is the foundation of a democratic process. This woke idea that opinions are now more that wrong but evil is the consequence of what is called "Social Media". It is more antisocial. Just don't tell people how you voted. In New York where I grew up, there is this joke, "How many New Yorkers dose it take to screw in a light bulb?" None of your freaking business.
00 Reply6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not hate. Most of my family is religious and if they will fall for religion then they will fall for the trick that republicans represent religion. So I get it and think they are insecure, but I don't hate them for it.

20 ReplyNo I won't. Hate is a strong word used here. If I see logically then no politician is totally good. Rarely you will ever see a politician who was completely honest and did no crimes. However I won't like it if they push their choice on me.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI stopped caring. Whoever ends up in office isn't there to be a member of the people and is only there to further either their own goals or the goals of someone who's giving them money. I don't like the people they vote for but I only don't like the others slightly less, if only because of the fact that the people my family vote for really don't care at all and it's obvious they don't yet people think they do anyways.
00 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I would. No one has a good reason to vote for Putin if he was voteable then same for Trump and then same for whoever else Evil shows up.
