Hopefully, but I doubt it. Putin's put too much in to back out casually now. I wish to hell I knew WHY, but even if the media DID come out with something, would I be able to trust it? If, as I type this, my phone rings, and it's Vladimir Putin (I have no idea what time it is in whatever part of Russia he's in), calling to explain to me why he invaded Ukraine, what could I do with that information?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: people of other countries? Feel free to copy the US government's "separation of powers" thing. It's a really, REALLY good idea, and keeps one lunatic from seizing power. Yes, we have weirdos who will shout that it's "cultural appropriation" if you do, but we only let them talk because we're nuts for free expression. Most of us WANT peace and stability in other parts of the world.

I think it will. While Western media likes to pretend that Ukraine is winning the war and that Putin was un-prepared, in reality, Russia is winning the war pretty easily and the Americans are afraid that they cannot deal with them.

The reason people think otherwise is really that the Russians aren't fighting the war the way Americans fight wars. The American strategy is to bomb the shit out of everything by air before putting soldiers on the ground to sweep up. The Russians seem to be trying to avoid that as much as possible, only attacking military targets.

The problem is in Russia, the media is controlled. Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc. are all banned. The only media is state run media. So taking to the media to advocate for peace, won't make a difference. The Russian calculus is dominated by one man.

It will be short as far as wars go, but it'll still take a few months. That's assuming NATO doesn't get involved, which would be a mistake. The Russians are holding the bulk of their military back, which suggests they're anticipating us making a move. Shit would just pop off if that happened.
