First they lost Crimea
Then the bigger scale invasion began
Sometimes I watch Reporting from Ukraine just to see how the territorial map changes over time.
The Russian forces took Bakhmut. Then the tactical Terrikon mountain near Avdiivka. Then Avdiivka itself. Then they spread from Avdiivka until the next line of defense.
Now they're attacking the Kharkiv region, trying to creep in some more.
Historically from what I saw those small creeping territorial changes in other wars (such as the Korean war, Spanish civil war, Israel and Palestine show similar signs) tends to be like a slow acting poison, that'll overtake bigger areas sometime later.
I believe, that Ukraine is losing this war despite it seeming like a stalemate with smaller territorial losses creeping in. But then again, it's the 2. nd most powerful military against the country ranking among the top 20 most powerful military forces. References:
