The main reason for this is that the education system is run by and filled with midwits, like the girl in the video. That video perfectly illustrates the mentality of the midwit.
When I say midwit I mean people who are of above-average intelligence, but who are not highly intelligent, although they like to think that they are and really like others to think that they are.
Beyond a certain level of intelligence, there seems to be a trade-off between the ability to solve logical problems and the ability to systematise vs social skills. Most highly intelligent people are at least slightly autistic, whereas midwits usually are not.
Autistic people tend not to care a lot about popularity or status, instead they tend only to care about true vs false, regardless of whether or not people get offended. Also as a result of their lack of social skills they're assumed to be unintelligent by many people. The midwit girl placed the guy who was more intelligent than she was last for this reason.
Midwits on the other hand are status-driven. Since they're socially intelligent, they figure out what the dominant culture is or most popular beliefs in order not to offend the wrong people and get cancelled. This is why they run the education system today.
Some will do so dishonestly, only pretending to believe in such things. Others will, because they are quite intelligent and intelligent people are able to rationalise almost anything, convince themselves that those beliefs are correct. The dominant culture today is liberal.
Another reason that they do this is that while they're intelligent, they're not intelligent enough to make sense of things themselves. They're almost incapable of original thought. Thus they listen to people who they view as being equally intelligent or more intelligent than they are, and then simply adopt the same beliefs and make the same arguments, or they tend to appeal to authority. These are the types of people who'd say something as stupid as "how do you know that's a man or a woman? Are you a biologist?"
Basically, the education system is a bunch of midwits teaching other midwits liberal nonsense, while they all believe that they're a lot more intelligent than they actually are, despite many of them being unable to find a job in their chosen field once they graduate, while having to pay thousands in student loan debt. Meanwhile, many people who are less educated than they are, the people they look down on and assume are stupid, might do a lot better than they do.00 Reply

+1 yI’d say going to college exposes you to a lot more of the world and new ideas. If you don’t go to college and just stay in your hometown/local area, I don’t think you get that same exposure, you’re limited to just whatever your predominant local culture is. (Yes, I know people can go to college in their local areas, lmao, that’s a bit of an exception, but they likely will be exposed to others from outside of the area.)
I mean, I was a History major at a supposedly liberal school in a supposedly liberal state, but outside of maybe a few Sociology classes, I wouldn’t say anything was taught to me in a fashion that would warrant any reasonable objection from any reasonable conservative. And look, anything supposedly “liberal” that I took away from any lecture was by CHOICE. I took in the facts and opinions I was presented, mulled them over for a while, decided what I thought did or didn’t make sense, or whatever nuance in between, and I consider myself more worldly than I was before for having heard and considered all of it, whatever I accepted or rejected. And it’s ever-evolving as I live and witness and experience and learn more. And I know people who came into college conservative and left that way, but I still feel like they grew and understood people of opposing viewpoints better.
I don’t know, I don’t mean to say someone is unequivocally “better” if they’ve been to college than someone who hasn’t…. lord knows I’d just learn to fix cars or refrigeration units or something if I could do it all over again lmao. In today’s world, you can self-educate a lot more easily if you choose to. It’s fair to say that ignorance is a choice now more than ever before. So there’s a way around it, but hopefully you could understand where there’s a higher likelihood of just getting caught up in believing whatever your native locale believes is the truth and the ONLY truth, and not at least hearing other ideas or experiencing a different area’s culture, or perhaps just learning second hand by someone you meet at school. It’s not just what you’re taught in the classroom, it’s the relationships you have with new and different people, and just seeing that your way isn’t the ONLY way, or the RIGHT way. That doesn’t mean your way can’t be right for you, it’s just allow others to have their ways, however different they may be from yours.40 Reply

+1 yI think that depends on what you mean by more education. For instance doctors and surgeons etc. require more formal education than somebody like me who is a registered nurse. Although I’ve met plenty of doctors and surgeons that are very conservative, some of them moderates and obviously a few of them are liberal. So kind of depends on what kind of education it is.

Yes - speaking as an educated woman. I had to unlearn many things I was lead to believe while in college and it wasn't easy. Definitely not encouraged by my environment and made me a bit of an outcast compared to my colleagues (I work in science). Now to top it all of, I'm not sure if the things I was taught are even true.

I'm not sure that the more education you have, the more likely you are to be 'turned' liberal. I do believe that most people who graduate from college with bachelor's, master's or even PhD's tend to be liberal. But many are not.
I think the problem is, they are all mainstream. They are taught what the system wants them to know. They learn obedience and are not taught to think for themselves. Plus, the higher they go, the more their education is focused on a specific specialty.
I find that most highly educated people know as much about the world as the average person. Why? Because the consume mainstream media for their information and they trust the system.
The problem with educated people is, they think they are smart because they got a degree. Therefore, you can't tell them anything. They are smug and think they are smarter than everyone else. They don't think you could possibly know more about anything than they do.
I know smart people with PhD's and multiple degrees who get all their information from mainstream media and won't even look at anything else. They know NOTHING about the real world. They are in the matrix.
I don't think conservatives are smart, either. Only those who ask questions and seek truth beyond the walls that have been constructed are truly smart.10 Reply- 3.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yWell, I hear it happens with tons of students in the "liberal arts" branch of colleges.
If you have a more "real world" STEM type of study... chemist, mathematician, scientist, engineer, doctor, nursing field of study then I hear you are getting real world studies and training and you are pretty clear of the psycho left, activist, theory world and all of their "issues" they bitch about.
If you are taking women's studies, gay/lesbian studies, black studies... etc. and live in the liberal arts wing. Chances are they'll have you hating everything and everybody and wanting society to just burn down and you'll want the country to go down in flames with them cheering on. They don't live in the present and don't realize how much progress and blessing our society has gone through and how lucky they are and what great opportunities they've had.
They should go live in North Korea, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Haiti, Burma... or some war ravaged country for about 5 years and then come home and tell us how evil and bad the USA is while they live in the bubble world of a college campus life that mommy and daddy pay for.00 Reply No I don’t agree with this at all. University education encourages free thinking / critical thinking - it isn’t a case of ‘repeat these mantras’. Lecturers actively promote critical commentary on their own research - it makes them better academics.
The idea that there are this homogeneous group of brainwashed liberals is appealing to you because you have realised that you have opinions that a large group of educated people have INDEPENDENTLY listened to and disagreed with. It’s threatening to you that those with intellect think you are basically wrong. So you’ve dismissed their opinion as some homogeneous brainwashing rather than do the actual hard work of examining your own thinking.
It’s obvious from your question that you haven’t had the privilege of a higher education - this could be for many reasons, it doesn’t necessarily reflect ability and I’m sorry for you that you haven’t experienced that. Education at a higher level actively encourages critical thinking - had you been lucky enough to experience that, you would already be able to answer your question.
Sorry that so many educated people disagree with your ‘insights’. I would guess that there is more to this than the lazy bleating of the ‘sheeple’. Likelihood is your opinions are wrong. Sorry, but there it is.00 ReplyTrue, you are more likely to be liberal.
But honestly it's because you are able to meet more people be exposed to more diversity of how people are.
The people you are taught are evil or wrong ends up showing you that they are no different from you.

+1 ynot sure, possible.
I wonder if "those types" are people who can't really function in the real world... business, risk and such, so they hide out in education setting.
there is a difference between theory and application, engineering and technician. Some people can only get as far as complaining, others learn to embrace and solve problems.
A simple solution is to require professors to work a real job for some period of time. The system as it is, may be quite dangerous if you are right. I've always valued teachers who were real world, they had jobs and taught in their field. Most of my professors had real world experience and only taught part time.00 Reply None of my professors were every political. When I taught, I also never spoke of politics. The only political person I can think of in all of my education was my political science teacher in high school, and that was their job description. Some people are unprofessional and don't know how to stick to their subject matter I suppose however I never witnessed that personally. That doesn't have anything to do with education in itself, it has to do with people being bad at their job. That said, you should probably go study liberalism, and stop labeling progressivism, socialism (communism, social democracy), etc. as liberalism. If you did, you'd probably agree with 99% of it being that America was founded on Liberalism and that is the foundation of the majority of conservative beliefs.
00 Reply532 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Truly educated people should be more likely to use reason to exercise their own free will in self determination. The problem is that there are some really smart stupid people in the world and some seriously educated dumb people.
But the real issue is the difference between ignorant and stupid people. Ignorant means lacking knowledge. Stupid means lacking brainpower. Educated people can at least say they are not lacking is some knowledge, but nothing stops them from being stupid. Where as uneducated people will always be ignorant of the fact they are missing some degree of knowledge.00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Educated and a college degree don't necessarily mean the same thing anymore. Some of the most illogical and ignorant people I have known had college degrees, while some other people I have known were much more intelligent and logical than the ones with college degrees.
Actually, having worked in schools for 12 years, I can say that more of the bus drivers I used to work with were intelligent than the majority of the teachers I have met after switching careers.00 Reply

Your chosen nomenclature "be brainwash (sic)" is stigmatic, but the truth remains, the more well rounded a person's education, the more likely they are to tend towards a liberal mindset. Conversely, ignorance and a smaller amount of education and exposure to world culture, lends itself to more conservative perspectives.
10 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. This only happens to people who weren't taught much by their parents. They are a blank slate. Also brainwashing in schools starts in kindergarten. To some degree 100% of people who have gone to any school were brainwashed by the system. It's just less obvious to themselves. A typical conservative today wouldn't be considered that by conservatives living 100 years ago.

Let's start off with the fact that probably about 30% of my teachers were preaching about how guns should be illegal
Or how about the very distorted idea of the wage Gap which they can never get their mouth shut about
There were a few other things too but mostly I just remember the annoying remarks
Oh yeah one that really really made me mad had to do with sterilizing men which as a man who hopes to some they have a kid that one definitely rubbed me the wrong way and I nearly socked that teacher in the mouth but I didn't because I'm a rational person - +1 y
Considering nearly 60% of Americans favour banning "assault rifles" (no, I'm not going to have that discussion, you know what I mean by it), half that percentage favouring banning all guns doesn't sound all that unrepresentative of the country as a whole. (And I'd be willing to bet that most of them would allow exceptions for farmers and hunters, especially if there were rules to ensure they were stored safely.)
How much of a wage gap (after correcting for every possible reason for women earning less) should there be?
Somehow, I don't think the idea of sterilizing men came out of nowhere, or applied to all men, and it appears it was only one person suggesting it, and probably not seriously.
Not if they went to private or charter schools where a teacher's opinions and personal politics rarely get drilled into a child, unfairly so. Tbh the law pushed in Florida should be nationwide and not only that but for teachers to not be able to share political views allowing these children to grow up a clean slate to decide for themselves what they agree with and draw their own conclusions in life

I remember having this sociology professor who was a proud feminist and she would try to teach us things like the idea that men and women are behaviorally identical absent social conditioning. ![Do you agree the more educated you are the more likely you are to be brainwash with liberal teachings?]()
The left is anything but rational. Proof of that is everywhere. The left supported "mostly peaceful" riots occurring for over a year, doing billions of property damage and resulting in nearly 30 murders, hundreds of rapes, tens of thousands of assaults, many thousands of destroyed businesses, and even barricading police in their building and setting the building on fire. Standing in front of an inferno, calling the event "mostly peaceful" is so far detached from reality that it's indefensible.
The left spent a year telling people that Kyle Rittenhouse chased down black people and shot them in the streets - even though it was known the entire time that his attackers were all white and that he was the one being chased down and attacked, because there was video footage online that showed exactly that. Even after the video was shown at the trial, there were STILL people on the left making these claims.
How about Adam Schiff telling CNN viewers every single day for two years that "there was overwheming evidence of Trump colluding with Russia" and that "I've seen it." Then he gets called to testify to Congress under oath, and suddenly, he knows nothing about any evidence. Many on the left STILL believe those lies, even after multiple investigations found nothing.
I could go on all day long, but none of that is even a little bit rational. Currently, the Left is trying to fight a Florida law that prevents teachers and schools from talking about sex and gender identity issues *without* involving the parents to K-3rd graders. How is it rational that schools should be discussing this with 5-9-year olds and hiding it from their parents? That's called GROOMING - and the left is demanding that they be allowed to keep doing it. - +1 y

Look who just blew a fuse. Talk about irrational.
And, again, you're taking things out of context. When the government talks about masks protecting you, they're talking about REAL, N95 masks like hospitals use. They're shaped and fitted. And they're only used for a couple of hours before being discarded. Yes, those masks, used that way, make a difference.
But we all know that's not what people spent 2 years wearing (unless they worked in a hospital). There weren't anywhere close to enough N95 masks for everyone - even hospitals struggled to get them. Instead, people were wearing masks made out of whatever. THOSE cloth masks - often worn for weeks at a time, were not helping anyone. It was a placebo - a way to control people and a way for people to virtue-signal.
Of course, you only read the CNN headline and didn't understand the actual context of the story. Those details matter. And in a year or two, when studies are released in the corporate media that show that the cloth masks were worthless, and that forcing people to wear them did a ton of social and psychological damage, NO ONE who was pushing for masks will do anything more than shrug and pretend it's no big deal. THAT is irrational, and it tramples on people's rights. - +1 y

I'm a minority. Ever seen a Trump rally on TV? They're full of minorities. Even Leftists will tell you that they're perfectly safe going to a conservative event - they'll be welcomed - UNLESS the Left are protesting it.
Not sure if you're aware of this, but whenever Ben Shipiro gives a talk, he does a Q&A after the talk, and he ALWAYS invites people from the left to come to the front of the line to ask their questions. No one has ever been denied their opportunity to speak (unless they commit violence), and lots of the people are minorities.
You're TOLD that the right hates minorities, but in the real world, you can't hardly point to an example of that happening, because it's incredibly rare. But you know who doesn't care about minorities? The left. When people are burning down cities and looting businesses (many minority-owned) in cities like Portland or Minneapolis, who do you think is harmed? It's mostly minorities. Not only do many lose their businesses, but everyone in the neighborhood looses access to those services - and many are never coming back.
