How did you feel being in a place full of your opposing party?

So I moved to a very conservative area because my older brother lives there. I’ve been going to school, and sometimes I feel awkward and would face harassment if I said I leaned more towards the left. I don’t believe Joe Biden is a good president, and god no, I think Trump is worse. Anyways, I already got accused for voting for Joe Biden, and they were aggressive. Like angrily shouting. I just told them I didn’t vote at all because they’re not good people. They bully each other from anything from your clothes to what you drive. But since, living there, they have changed my prospective on why people vote Republican. Like I know this guy who said he used to be a democrat, but since he moved to this area, he’s very republican. And by the sound of his views, I say he was always a Republican, but he just didn’t know it at the time. First of all, he’s Mexican American, just like me, but he calls himself “American.” And doesn’t know Spanish. On the other hand, I’m fluent, and consider myself Mexican American because that’s what it says on the census and every other form to identify you race/ethnicity. I feel like he’s ashamed of having Mexican roots, honestly. I just think it’s sad, but you do you. And I’ve been hearing false accusations. They say democratic areas are full of people who care about themselves, and full of crime. And I’m that area, there’s nice people. Yet in that area, less people live there, and my friend who’s a cop says he has to pull a gun out every single day on the job. And crime is just as bad. I feel like these people have never lived in a democratic majority place long enough to see that there’s crime literally everywhere in the United States.

Anyways, I have met nice republicans, and I consider some of them my friends. And I have considered dating conservative girls. I believe it shouldn’t matter what someone believes in as long as they’re good people, I’ll be their friends. Kind of how gay people should be treated without discrimination, or harassment. I don’t like that people block each other just because they have a political party preference.
