Be honest. Do most white American women not want to marry and raise families in the future? Am I too dull, boring, and old fashioned for them?

I swear the number of women I hear from these days who think about nothing besides their career and have no desire for raising families and giving birth in the future is astounding.

Whatever happened to tradition? Isn’t this why the white population is declining? Isn’t this why we need immigrants to sustain our population?

I just don’t understand why so many young American women these days have no desire for kids.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to raise kids and teach them to be a good person?

Wouldn’t it be great to look back on all the progress they’ve made?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have company in your final days here on Earth when you’re in the hospital alone dying from old age?

I just can’t understand why so many American women (and western women as well in Europe) have no desire for kids. I see so many benefits.

As a child myself to two loving parents, I feel a strong love towards them, just as they feel a strong love towards me.

And I’m hoping to be a future parent so I can extend that love to children of my own someday.

But most of the white American women I’ve talked to and heard from are not open to this.

I made it clear to them that I wasn’t even suggesting that they get with me personally, but I was asking if they had any personal interest in marrying some guy in the future and having kids with him more generally.

Overwhelming majority of the answers were “no”. Now maybe its just a coincidence and I would’ve noticed different results if I asked women in a different area. But the fact remains that in the 2020 census, America’s white population DECLINED for the first time in its recorded history. And that is precisely BECAUSE younger white women don’t have enough interest in GIVING BIRTH.

So I don’t see how we as a society are going to preserve our culture if we’re forced to take in immigrants in order to sustain ourselves and the economy.

*sigh* Where to even begin with this one. First of all, most people dont care about your ideas preserving tradition and culture. They are individuals, they care about concerns on an individual level. Things like their jobs or what they are going to eat today. Social issues is so far above them that it matters little if any for their daily lives.

As for why people dont want to start family these days? There are so many reasons quite frankly. First of all is just the general state of the countries where most countries, USA especially, have vast problems with social and economical issues that results in the population both being incredibly busy and not in an economically strong enough position to feel comfortable raising kids.

Where as before you worked on farms intensively during very specific parts of the year and then spent the rest of your time twiddling your thumbs and you could make a decent living with one partner working, today its often that both partners needs a full time job just to keep up their quality of living and they do not feel like they could afford the extremely high cost of raising kids or the time required to raise them.

This is partially why so many kids these days are dumped into daycare and otherwise put in front of a TV or other electronic "babysitter" these days. Its a bad influence on society and directly because most families can't take the time or effort into functioning properly.

Going beyond that we also have the extremely poor upbringing we ourselves got. The average upbringing can't basically get worse even if we explicitly tried. Things like beatings (such as spanking) which is incredibly detrimental for a childs development or neglect is incredibly common when we grew up. Most traditional forms of raising children is straight up evil if not counter productive which means that aside from many people today having very serious problems in their lives directly resulting from their poor upbringing and parents, they also have a bad impression on parenthood.

Furthermore there has been basically no attempt to prepare young adults for becoming parents. Becoming a parent is scary and asks a lot from you that you honestly should be taught about in school to prepare you but simply is not. I mean, you barely get sexual education as it is but since when did anyone ever get a class on how to change diapers or how to prepare baby food? Even the simplest requirements for being a parent is never even talked about much less the very critical and hard part of how to actually raise them.

And then we have the lack of optimism in the world. We are actively destroying the future such as with climate change and and that other crap. Is it so surprising that people are hesitant to bring new life into a world that just feels like its getting worse? In a way it even feels cruel to their children to bring them into it.

Lastly I would like to point out that if you want a positive population growth you need families to have at average above 2 children. In other words, after going through the struggle of raising not only 1 child against all the odds today, they have to make the choice to do it two more times. It is a literal struggle and one we are incredibly badly prepared for.

The previous generations have simply set us up for failure and we are currently living it. Until some serious steps are made to ease people into being more educated and confident parents with the support of society behind them I doubt this will make a turn around.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to have kids, and plenty of women do want to have kids! But at the same time, quite a lot of women also want to focus on their careers so they can support themselves.
Not all women want to put themselves through pregnancy, birth, and raising a child because maybe they've thought about it and thought, "huh, I don't think motherhood is for me." Is it too much to respect that?
I totally think it would be great to raise a kid but I don't really think I have a great personality to support a child. I snap easily, I don't like incompetency and I find that I get irritated when people can't understand things. Plus, I'm not very good at comforting people and I'm terrible with children. That's not mother material!

Respond to this once you properly understand the sacrifices that women go through. It's NOT the same as being a dad, nowhere near that. Postpartum depression, giving up years of your career to raise a child, and a million other things. When you look at it that way, why would any mom want to raise a kid?

I worship the ground that mothers walk on. Good for them! They're brave for being able to go through all that. It's not a "white woman" thing to not want to raise kids. I'm Asian for Christ's sake.

I'm probably a little too old for this question. I'm past the point in my life where I'd be making these decisions. However, I went the marriage and kids route. I can't imagine life without my kids. With that being said, I think society is making that type of life look less attractive to younger generations. The message these days is to be a strong independent woman. You must get a degree, and a career. Societal values have changed. It's also made less attractive by the fact that it's almost impossible for most families to make it on one income. That's not to say there aren't any women out there that don't want to raise a family.

No I think you’ll find a woman that wants that it just might take you a while. I looked for that for a while when I was in my 20s and when I realized I wasn’t going to find that I decided I just had to provide for myself the best I could while following my passion and focus on that. I didn’t choose a career over marriage and children I chose it when it became clear marriage and children wasn’t going to happen for me. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t still like to find “the one” but that can’t really be my priority anymore.

Why would any woman want to bring a child into a world where 1 in 6 women experience rape or attempted rape in their lifetime. A world where there is so much divide, where see levels are rising, where our own food is poisoning us and microplastics are being found in our blood. A world were most women don't even have bodily autonomy and where they can't make their own decisions regarding their own reproductive rights.

To be a mother is to sacrifice your entire being to care for anther person. To sacrifice your body, your mental health, career, health, resources, and even your own life. Why should we want to have more children when the world is already over populated, and there are so many children who are in need of families already. I don't think you fully comprehend what it is to give birth and what it is to be a parent.

There has been a big decline in interest in childbearing. Kids are a lot of work and there are many challenges, lots of things to protect them from, plus the cost of living is expensive. And a lot of people are self-centered, which is a big no-no when it comes to being a parent.

It is because of the demographic-economic paradox. Marriage was made to raise strong men who would go to war, today the United States is a rich country and is not in internal war, so no more children are needed, marriage is not necessary, so many women are not necessary either, for that, given the impossibility of being able to get rid of women, they were forced to go to work instead of being housewives who were not productive for society, all this responds to behavioral drainage.

I think that women are concentrating on career more these days and are deferring having kids. When we were having kids we were the youngest people in the Lamaze class. We were 25. Still, there were lots of babies being born.

It's better to focus on careers and not sleeping around and babies. Women who focus on babies and the traditional system always end up having babies and those men leave them and they end up becoming single mothers. Damaging the system for career-focused guys who want to start families later in life.
