Does anyone else think that being Homophobic is wrong?

Hello Im Alec Im 18 And Im part of the LGBTQIA+ community, And I think everyone should be able to think however they want and say whatever they feel is necessary but some people (Homophobic people) seem to take it a little far I've had 8 people I know who was a part of the LGBTQIA+ kill themselves because of what they get called the highest age of the 8 people was 20 and the lowest was 11 and I just don't think its right for homophobic people to think that If your gay or you like things they don't that its wrong is anyone one else think that they should think at least a LITTLE differently?

You have to understand that a lot of those people who despise people of the LGBTQA+ community were brought up in a different generation with a different set of values. Despite rising awareness among people, how do you expect a 40/60/70 year old to change? It is taught and learnt. Hate is not inherent. I've met some 70 year old's who read up on it, understood and even though they did not agree with the concept of homosexuality, they respect it.

I don't think the term "homophobia" is accurate, because the word 'phobia' means a persistent, irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness that it is not dangerous. People who are homophobic are not scared of homosexuals, they simply despise them.

People should stop caring about what others think and do their own thing. One of my friends is bisexual and another is aroace. They have not come out to their families yet because they've noticed that their families often make disparaging comments about the LGBTQ+ community and may disown them.

I follow the policy: "Live and Let Live". I judge people solely based on their character and not on their sexual orientation. "Hating" anyone just because they're of a specific race/ follow a particular religion / sexual orientation is wrong and foolish.

Homophobia is wrong. I'm bisexual, and have definitely faced biphobia from both straights and other people in the LGBTQ community. It's wrong. I'm sorry you've lost friends. Love is love.

Bigotry is wrong. it’s not just being homophobic, it’s everything else as well.

what’s always hysterical (in a sarcastic way) is when someone from a group that faces hatred and abuse, is in turn abusive to another area that suffers the same abuse.

Humans are on the whole just fucking shit.

This is one of the reasons Pride events still take place.

When everyone attending a pride event can walk home safely without abuse and violence, then the world may be getting some place.

Also a lot of this shit starts at home with homophobic parents making life a living nightmare for their kids, who at say 13 are questioning their sexuality and are literally terrified to even hint about it to their ‘loving’ parents. Invariably parents who are religious and against abortion but see nothing wrong with kicking their young teen out of the house or even killing them.. the joys of humanity.

1. You don't understand what "phobic" means. Just like most people that use the term "homophobic" to describe anyone that disagrees with them.

2. Some kids have committed suicide after they were groomed by the liberal school system to become transgender and then later regretting their choice after getting hormone treatments and sometimes after surgeries.

3. Stop abusing little kids when they aren't old enough to understand many concepts or how things can affect their lives long term. ALL people that convince little kids (often prepubescent) to become transgender, or trick them into thinking they can actually change their gender deserve the death penalty.

You don't seem to understand that if you want to set fire to your house then more power to you for being an idiot. But if that house is smack bang in the middle of a block of flats then of course everyone is going to stop you and call you out.

When you're older you're understand you were just being stupid and being exploited. That people are committing suicide over this should tell you it's not really a sound mind they have to begin with.

Homophobia is written into our DNA. I understand that people are born the way they are, but the Bible lists it as a no no. A lot has changed since I was young.
