So if they want it legalized then there should be harsher penalties placed on people who commit crimes while under the influences and there should governmental regulation on it. In the1930s most these drugs where legal, and only with the law enforcement of these drug laws... we have seen the growth of crime syndics and drug lords making billions on the illegal transport and dealing of drugs. When if they were legal they could be tracked and money could be used to fund social projects. American has all but lost the drug war, so the only victory there is to change these laws after decades of prove that they do not work.
But with illegal drugs, all that money goes to criminals and when as we see it makes them even more proactive to find ways to increase profits... as we can see with the meth labs all over the country.
How many people would go to a drug dealer to buy meth, crack or crank or what ever is out there today... if they could go by crocacin or weed at a local drug store legally?
How many would over dose when there was legal regulation on it, and we could ensure its being distributed in a safe way. Sure its not healthy for someone to be a coca head, but either is it good to be an alcoholic or pot head... but its your choice to make and if you could choose to do it legally would that not be better than going to a criminal to buy unsafe and unregulated product?
I also thing prostitution and gimbaling should be legal and not just on Native American lands.10 Reply

You don't see people with alcohol and cigs been as into illegal activity as those with other drugs. Why? Because there legal and sold regulated. Government have form of control around them. Compared to druglords who get into human trafficking and other crimes that come along with that life. One may start off just dealing weed, then it's cocaine, then it's people. How is that good?
If government sell it like cigs that's that. Just a people working to do that one thing alone not getting involved in worse crimes.
And you can go back to when they try to ban alcohol look at the history with that, very Cleary was a bad thing and started gangs, mafia everywhere. It brought so much crime with it they had to legalise alcohol again. It's the same thing with all drugs just for some odd reason they've never legalised it. When we know factually it would cut down on these undergrounds of operations wealth leading to less success as trying to turn to that life.
It becomes so much harder to become a criminal making wealth. Also drugs are something one self takes. It's not shooting someone else who obviously don't want to be shot.
It's someone taking that action of saying "Yeah give me those." It's a consented deal like drinking alcohol or smoking it's a choice one self makes. That really only ruins ones self if they let it.
And just like alcohol obviously we would have laws that still make it illegal to do at work, or do something bad while intoxicated. Also with government controlling it you will not get stuff like spiked weed and weird mixtures that cause to a quicker death and not exactly what was ordered.18 Reply- +1 y
"... when states legalized cannabis, the volume of prescriptions given out for drugs related to managing pain, depression, anxiety, sleep, psychosis, and seizures all decreased significantly."

@goaded I don't even need to read that to already think that's true but of course I did because such research is fun to read. Weed fundamentally from all research done upon it can only bring up one question to one who is informed on it "Why is it illegal?" and once one looks into that. The answers one will find is not because it's "Dangerous." it's because of stuff like racism, alcohol industry holding it back to eliminate competition, along with lots more reasons that just has nothing to do with protecting people from a harmful drug.

@goaded ah the Skeptoid one points out that he did not own logging company himself therefore that had nothing to do with him since the conspiracy suggests he owned a logging company himself. However in his very own newspapers he did own he created tons of propaganda against weed.
Which if one read in-between the lines, the logging companies he bought from he probably had a deal with to do that. Either way he contributed to it in one way or another. Interesting fact from wiki about the guy tho, Hearst visited Berlin to interview Adolf Hitler. When Hitler asked why he was so misunderstood by the American press, Hearst retorted: "Because Americans believe in democracy, and are averse to dictatorship." lmao.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yBecause they're ignorant. Can't believe some ding dong tried to compare hard drugs with coffee. There was a study done of centenarians. They were trying to find commonalities. They wanted to pinpoint what factors allowed them to live so long. One of the common factors was they were coffee drinkers.
I work in the prison system and I would bet at least 90% of the people in prison are there for drug related charges. Like home invasions, burglaries, robberies, murder etc.
If there were no drugs we might only need a fraction of the police force we have now.02 Reply- +1 y
The same could be said if these drugs would simply be decriminalized. What's the point of caging millions of people who just continue with their addiction behind bars?

I'm trying to process your level of stupidity. My drug of choice is beer I've never needed a gun to get it.
Well it not being legal leads to more crime
like look back to when the US banned Alcohol and all the mafias and crime it created this same thing happens with drugs
id we made it legal we would lower this crime sense there would be a legal way to get it it also allow it to be regulated more20 Reply

Absolutely nothing!
Drugs do nothing but "take". You trade a temporary "feeling" while they (drugs) continuously TAKE from you.
They take your money.
They take your self respect.
They take your sense of responsibility.
They take your time.
They take your friends.
They take your possessions.
They take your family.
And finally... when there's nothing else to take, drugs take your life!00 Reply 1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. You know that alcohol was illegal at one point, right? It was criminal activity.
And many people are pushing for it because they either 1. don't think it's government's business/role, 2. think that not all drugs are bad, or 3. think that people have the right to make bad choices for themselves.
I don't have overly definitive stances on this topic, but if I did, I'd be number 3. And I'd ask you: if fast food was illegal, and someone was trying to legalize it, and most people agree it's bad for you and it's proven to be unhealthy, should people still have the right to make that bad, unhealthy decision? Or should government restrict people's right to make choices that are bad or unhealthy for them?10 Reply4.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It reduces the number of people in prison, helps them to get treatment for their addictions, allows them to seek help when they need it, reduces the chances of dying from unexpectedly pure supplies, and reduces the need to commit crimes to pay for the addiction.
Other than that, nothing.10 Reply23.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. There are people that use drugs that really believe they are either harmless or they have some kind of medicinal value. If they could see themselves like the rest of the world sees tham they would realize they are not and that they are not really "enlightened".

+1 yWhat good comes of alcohol being legal? How about caffeine? Phenylethylamine? They're all drugs. In a free society, the burden of proof for banning something lies with the prosecution; why SHOULDN'T they be legal?

I drink coffee and soda and have the odd beer, so yes.
So people grow up and decide for themselves whether they want the side effects.
Still I didn't hear anyone pushing to legalize the drugs that have no therapeutic potential.10 Reply
+1 yWhat good comes of it is that people won't be put in jail for smoking a plant. All the illegal activity that surrounds the drug trade will have its finances cut off. Hate to break it to you but drugs won the 'war on drugs'
