This tradition goes back to WWII if I remember one of the LTs saying. Also, our battalion commander and command sergeant major was there.

maybe now you can answer the question I asked before and been curious about, and that you seemed to miss last time
have you actually been and experienced real action in a combat/battle, against other people?
or have you just trained/been a guard at military facilities near combat zones around the world?
No, haven’t been or experienced real action in combat/battle against other people.
I hope I never do
We’re always prepared for a fight or to go to war, but hope we do not.
I like boring.
I want to see my friends and family back home after all of this.
What’s the saying “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.”
Always train and prepare, but hope you don’t have to use it.
War is quite awful lol……
true that
We don’t get patches or stuff, just you go wherever as many times as required.
You could do 6 weeks Basra, 6 weeks UK, 6 Weeks Afghan, 6 weeks UK or just do 8 months or 6 months.
the sort of normal was rotation was Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Afghan,
My hubby has deployed with 2 different units so he switches them out to whichever he's feeling that day
Well done Todd.. where’s the patch?
So, do you see the US flag? It’s the patch right below that.
It’s on the right arm/sleeve
The bit that looks like a phone cover back?
Phone cover back? The ones in the US don’t look like yours I’m guessing.
I was told it is supposed to signify a conquistador’s headgear or helmet.
Aghhh I see what you see now. Yeah the helmet symbol reminded me of the back of a phone that you use to grip the case with.

I was in the Marines; so, we didn't have patches, but I have two combat deployments to Iraq. Also, as little as I know about the Army ranks, it looks like you're a specialist? In that case... You're a pog; "combat deployments" don't apply to you.
“Specialist” is a rank not a job.
I’m an 11B or Infantryman.
This is my job, “specialist” is my rank.
E4= specialist
Just like gunnery sergeant is a rank and
0311 is rifleman or your job in the USMC
Two different things
"as little as I know about Army RANKS..." Yea, I said it was a rank, and my understanding is that the Army only uses Corporal for the combat arms/ infantry. Therefore, you are a Pog...
POG is “persons or personnel other than grunts.”
I just told you I’m an 11B….
I haven't served in the military but I appreciate and respect those who have or do.
Thank you for your service.
Congratulations, Sir.
From a thankful civilian.
Not yet unfortunately. Do you deploy through Fort Bliss?
I think most Members of the Military have served in Combat zones, I know My Father did...
Unfortunately no, I don't. I have fuzz.
21 years ago... yup.
Kandahar, 2001.
Where did you deploy?
So, it’ll be a total of 2 rotations to Saudi.
Oh. Weird. Why is Saudi a combat deployment?
I was in Iraq a lifetime ago.
It’s apparently a combat zone.
Combat patch = deployment to combat zone.
That’s odd but that’s the military. I’m guessing you got your hostile fire pay there while deployed then.
@SaoirseS
Depends on what makes you bored.
For me, it was incredibly boring and I think that is a good thing.
No one truly wants to be in a war or get killed and not come back home
to their friends and family.
We’re always prepared to fight/go to war, but pray we do not.
What’s that saying actually?
“Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.”
No need, but I want.
I like philosophizing
Yeah I bought one on EBay.
My dad is in the army. That is so cool for you.
