Background checks should be FREE at all times and even committing a crime should not prevent a right, after they have served their time. Be it voting or owning a gun. Nobody has the right to initiate force against another person for any reason. It does raise interesting questions about which initiators of force get publicized in which don’t. If someone who has access to research or statistics on shootings could actually do a breakdown of who was more likely to shoot whom by race I don’t think this conversation would be going the same direction it is. If the concern was actually about shooting darts, I the direction of policing and the direction of social commentary would be significantly different. Thus it is not a logical leap to say that the motivations for why the conversation is going the direction it is have nothing to do with guns or violence.
