Is there anything better in today’s world than having Derek Chauvin in prison?

I suppose it is a rhetorical question. My rhetorical answer is 'nope, nothing better'. But what I really feel is more nuanced. I'm deeply disappointed that incidents such as Geo. Floyd's occur in our world at all. At 61 years of age, I no longer get angry when these things happen - nor do I resign myself to accept it as how things are, nor assume that the perp deserved it. I feel disappointment - that our society to has gotten to this point at all. But then I feel disappointment when I realize nearly all societies throughout history have been at this point all along. We didn't regress into this state of affairs. We, and most societies, have been here all along.
Yea, basically anything is better than reveling in the suffering of another human being, even if they deserve what they got
Glad to see him punished for his cavalier use of violence which definitely looked racially motivated.
Bad cops need hard consequences in order for the legitimacy of the system to be maintained.
not quite. i'm joyed at the justice. i couldn't give 2 shits about his well being.
Well sure, but you gotta remember he was just somebody's baby once. Just like the dude he killed. Makes you wonder what the hell happened along the way.
I dunno, say a prayer for the lost, at least man.
All it takes is a push at the wrong time and a lot of us could do something fucked up. People who think otherwise just haven't ever been tested.
I've been tested once or twice, and I know what I could have done but didn't.
Just takes one moment of weaknesses to let that evil in, and when it's in you once, the second time doesn't seem like much at all. I've seen friends go down like that.
Something that happens occasionally with cops and soldiers, and even chill/harmless low key crooks is that the more fucked up stuff they see, sometimes they take it in and become the monsters they get used to dealing with.
Some just start out on the job as psychos and racists too, but they're not the majority. Don't know enough about this guy to know which it was.
Just makes you wonder. Maybe somebody should have been keeping a better eye on this cops mental health, and none of this might have happened.
If anything can be learned from the whole mess it's that police behavioral training and oversight needs a major overhaul.
did not read a word after "Well sure, but you gotta remember he was just somebody's baby once."
that is now how you start an argument. because every horrible person ever has been "just somebody's baby once." does not excuse the horrible actions people commit.
Yeah well, maybe somebody smarter than you will read it eh?
Since when do I care if I start an argument? 😂
Hateful people need a good slap upside the head. I hope I do piss you off enough to make you think for a second.
You're too quick to see him as just the enemy, and not another human being. That's what caused this problem in the first place.
i dont care what anyone else will read when they see that nonsense. your reply will get maybe 50 views at most and most will not read a bunch of nonsense like that.
Alright hater. Peace ✌️

Yeah, too bad we all lost the convicted violent felon "whatever his name is". Society will never be OK without all his fine contributions. I'm sure the pregnant lady he robbed at gunpoint is crying in her cheerios.
He isn't dead, Floyd is... no matter what kind of life he will have in prison, he will live and experience many things where, obviously a dead person cannot.
yeah well you dont know that as you have never been dead. but not much to experience inside of a prison cell is there? that man is rotting away in a 2x2 cell everyday. thank the lord.
Personally I think I'd rather be dead than a long term prisoner. Depends on the length of the incarnation I guess.
@ArtemisSilver death is mercy, 20 years in prison is basically a death sentence at his age. i couldn't even imagine what a year would be like.
Yea, and prison is extra unpleasant for cops too. Oh well, he did what he did. Now the bill's due.
@ArtemisSilver and i have a big smile on my face knowing that :)
Feeding your hate isn't good for you man. But you do you.
@ArtemisSilver you can classify it as whatever you want to paint whatever picture you want to create in order to prove a nonexistent point.
but that man is rotting in prison and i am not :)
He needs to be in prison but in will not undo the evil he did, so...
there are no undos in life but there's sweet sweet justice.
I don't know thats a question you should be asking yourself. not my problem.
what does that have to do with anything? make some sense.
Well maybe something can be learned from the whole incident. Police need better mental health tracking and civilian oversight.
Need to screen out applicants with racist tendencies and a cavalier attitude about the use of force too.
As for the US prison system being fucked up, I'm pretty sure almost everybody agrees on that now.
You wanna know who’s even a bigger piece of shit? George Floyd.
We can all rest assured that a black man will never be killed by a police officer again, especially those who are incapable of following simple commands. 😂 😂😂
you show your true colors.
Yes, I have enough sense to respect the orders of someone with a gun. 🤷♂️😂
All liberals becoming extinct
disgusting dangerous fool.
you literally just talked about killing an entire group of people based on political belief. i will be reporting this.
Yeah. Piping down your mom
Don't really care one way or another
