There was a report of a mother who was acting out while yelling at the cops to go in the school and was handcuffed; manage to convinced another cop to take the cuffs off her, when the cops weren't looking ran and jumped a fence and went in the school to rescue her kids and bring them out, yet several police officers (dozens) with body armor and guns were busy waiting for more help to arrive while gunshots going off. Unacceptable in my opinion.

Correction: Cops didn't arrive to the crash til 12 minutes after it happened and didn't initially enter the school building during the shooting after 4 minutes of shots fired, then another 45 minutes til a whole hour passed by didn't enter to engage the shooter with several cops already outside waiting for border patrol tactical unit to arrive on scene while gunshots still going off in the building.
Police under heat for their response to the Texas Uvalde school shooting, justified or not? What's your take on the matter?
I live in north Texas, closer to Dallas in a town not much bigger than Uvalde, and this whole scenario from basic school security protocols not being followed to the tardiness of department absolutely blows my mind. We haven't had any real violent crime to speak of in years, but our police always have tactical gear on hand just in case because they know it'll take way too long to wait for a formal tactical team. I've also heard this story out of Uvalde change radically multiple times now, to the point it seems like there's a lot of people achieving catastrophic levels of failure across the board.
From a military background, it does make sense to me that the police would want/need to secure the perimeter of the building first before moving in, and that can definitely take time. A lot of schools have reinforced doors, so regular entry methods may have been considered unfeasible too, but not something that any given police department shouldn't have the means to deal with. For a town law enforcement body to have to rely on a federal agency to lend a tactical team however (which for the record, the Border Patrol is severely undermanned), that is an unacceptable shortcoming on behalf of the department leadership and possibly the city too. I don't see any reason whatsoever that this should've taken as long as it did, at least going off the information that has been made public.
To play the devil's advocate, you don't really know how dangerous a suspect is until neutralize them. Plus, being a policeman in America is always in a lose - lose situation. Regroup and follow a plan - you've take too long. Blitz - you didn't follow procedure and there were pointless casualties and collateral.
Also, don't know if you already know this but, "After further inspection of the deceased suspect’s clothing, it now appears the suspect was not wearing body armor as previous information had indicated. Instead, Ramos is said to have been wearing only a plate carrier with no ballistic armor inside when he exchanged gunfire with several officers at the school."
Walk a mile in their shoes. You have morons like Whoopi and AOC who want to completely get rid of cops. AOC doesn't care, because she has private military protecting her ass, and you're paying for it. In my state, the moronic governor wants to take away "qualified immunity" from cops. That would mean they would have to pay for their own lawyers, just for doing what they're supposed to do. Cops are no longer to use tear gas during riots, because it's not fair to the thugs throwing bricks at them. Cops no longer enforce speeding, so people drive 60 mph through school zones. I'm surprised that the cops showed up at all to that shooting. You and I both agree that modern-day liberals are idiots.

The average American police officer doesn't really have the training to carry a firearm and deal with a tactical situation, unless they are military vet or serving in the national guard. The real question is did they follow procedures?
Girl, they have the training. They just don't care, their lives matters first before yours or mine and they aren't going to be so quick to risk their lives for strangers.
They have about the same training as the average gun owner, that's it. It takes years of training to become a cop in other countries as well as a college education. In America you get a badge after 6 weeks.
As they should be. They should have protected those children. What's the paint of having police here to protect and serve of they just sit on the side lines and don't help anyone. If they did I think less kids would have died of they had intervened. It is so sad out breaks my heart to think about all the people family effected by this tragedy. I just don't get how someone could think killing a bunch of innocent people would prove that paint make them feel better because it won't and to be honest it just makes this country more corrupt everyday people think there can get away with it and the cops are showing them they can. When is enough enough something needs to be done we need to protect our children especially they are the next generations to come it's important.
Over the top. Can’t make schools a maximum security prison. Metal detectors are a stretch. Private sector security cop at desk, like a sheriff in courthouse, is a stretch. Further evidence of Self driven society lost in moral relativism as the Biblically defined morality (10 Commandments-shall not kill-like Abortion) has elapsed in a fully decayed Society.

i'm waiting for all of the actual information to come out. This is looking shady af though. We know there's camera footage from inside the school, because every public school in America has cameras. But they're not showing us yet. For all we know, it could have been a hostage situation and the guy hadn't shot anyone at that point, so the police were waiting for the people trained to deal in hostage situations before making a move. OR the police were in on it, and this was indeed a false flag (yes, with real casualties). I haven't seen the time footage of when the shooting started and how long after THAT, before the Border Patrol agent went in, but it makes a difference. One the shooter started shooting, the police should have immediately entered.
Why were the doors unlocked? Was it just that one? or were their doors always unlocked, because every elementary school I know of, has locked doors. Smells fishy to me.
I think it´s justified in terms that they should explain the procedure like why did they wait 1h to enter the building? I think it´s justified not to blame anyone but to learn from the used procedure and because people have a right to how things happened and what could have done better.

I wonder why things went the way they did. Nobody was in charge? Was it the chief's fault? Is everyone so afraid to be seen as racist they were too afraid to act in fear of getting fired and losing their pension? There is a lot more to this than we are being told.
As a parent I would have manhandled an officer and gone inside with my own gun. Break the glass and open it myself. But I'm physically capable enough to do that.

Justified. Cops are so corrupt we can't trust them! Especially those who works with hate crimes against LGBT people or minorities! Anyone who supports such a cop more than the minimum necessary to avoid jail is a true supporters of corruption without any possible exception!
Or perhaps the complains about the cops in this school shoopting are un justified.
Dude it’s on their goddamn logo, “to serve and protect.” I think people expect the police to protect them.
I mean I don’t. I’m just a poor kid from the country who grew up around guns. I know that the police are mostly worthless and are really just their to write tickets and file a worthless report after you’ve been the victim of a crime. People are better off just learning how to defend themselves.
