Why are most cops cowards?

Cops can shoot and kill an unarmed person but when it comes to taking on an armed shooter who is killing 21 people inside a school they are chicken shit. Some of the police got their own kids out but never tried to engage the shooter. If you remember disgraced school resource officer Scot Peterson who refused to enter the school in the Parkland High School shooting, these cops were the same, even when they had numbers over one person. They cowered while 21 people were slaughtered. Protect and Serve? What a sick joke!

Lol it truly is sad. And soon they will get more money for doing absolutely nothin. For the record, I don’t feel like all cops are that way. However, I think the actual number of cops that take the motto of “protect and serve” seriously is very very low. I’d say maybe 10-15% of the entire force in America. It’s a power trip for most of them. Should they be cops, probably not. But as long as they are semi doing there jobs, that’s all we can ask for. Yes, the expectation is super low for them, however, if they are out of line, they need to be held accountable

I’m so disgusted and repulsed by the delay that took place. I can only imagine the anger and confusion the parents must be feeling. Who knows who could have been saved with medical attention, had those doors been opened sooner.

An investigation needs to take place and fast.

I don’t believe in generalising the police though. There have been many instances of the police acting heroically, and putting their lives at risk for others.

I hope the families get some answers and some peace.

The fact that these few have come to light does not mean that MOST cops are cowards.

Most cops are just idiotic people with a superiority complex the size of the empire state building. Only about 10% of cops actually know what the effing hell they are doing. I get asked by people a lot why I don't trust cops and my answer never changes I don't trust them worth turds. Cause I'd rather know where guns are gonna be pointed from than not know and get a chunk of lead in my head or body from some moron with a badge. And to the sympathizers of cops don't get me wrong I know its a hard job. there's a reason I'm not a fluffing cop. Its like you get what you ask for with careers.

It's not a hard job it's one of the safest and easiest jobs in the world. They are unionized and even if you murder someone you will get a paid vacation and still be a cop somewhere else

I know many of the officers in our town, and I don't think they are cowards. Our little suburb sees mostly petty theft from the local big-box hardware store. Only one killing in 30 or so years.

On the national scene, with such a litigious society that is ready to ram all officers at the drop of a badge, I can see why they simply do not want to risk getting in harm's way if the public they are sworn to serve gives them no respect. And that INCLUDES the judges who let most of the "alleged" wrongdoers go with a slap on the butt, instead of getting that butt on a chain gang.

Some are. You are judging all cops. When we had shooting here at Little league park, the state police were there in seconds with guns.

Getting their kids out first would be natural response.

But now it proves what I have been saying , if the system breaks down , cops won't be there to do anything.

I literally know hundreds of cops and I can tell you that most are not cowards. There are many every year that lose their lives in the line of duty. There will be an investigation and it will show that they were following some protocol or else the chief was the one that made a badcall.

They were really incredibly brave making sure the theft of the election was not interfered with. Biden even had a reception for them with medals all around. @daniela1982 that’s because they have a small police department, and they had to call in the swat from a neighboring city, which unfortunately does take time. The police were unprepared, and under funded as well. Mistakes were made that are very similar to the sheriffs department in Littleton Colorado during columbine.

I don't think you can really judge people in a position like this until you've been there yourself. I mean, how many hours of firearm training do you have, exactly? It's easy to sit and judge situations like this online, but harder to actually do them in real life.

I don't know what kind of training they had, if any, and honest, I've become desensitized to this stuff, at this point.

Because of protocole like I don´t know about the US but in Germany every school and every county has a kind of alarm plan for a extra-ordinary crisis such a terroristic attack or mass shooting. Like here it´s also the case that the local police has to wait for the national police special forces because to lead the operation.
Because often times the local police isn´t educated to solve such a crisis so they have to wait for the special forces to lead.

Generally they might not have a weapon that could adequately suppress the culprits fire, or factually put him down. Nobody should take on a deadly fight that they know they can't win.
