First off, the only justice who is interested in even looking into them is Justice Thomas. One justice can't really do anything, and at most, he might be able to get two others to overturn it, which wouldn't be enough to make it happen.
The argument to be made for overturning those rulings in the same context as Wade and Casey would basically come down to the idea that the federal government shouldn't be involved in marriage at all, and it therefore goes to the states who could then decide they don't want to touch it. This wouldn't be a bad thing, except the decimation of the nuclear family is a major problem in the country's culture right now, and even most people on the right recognize that it's better for kids to grow up in a same sex two-parent household than having only one or no parents, so states taking restrictions on the subject on the heels of overturning Roe would be a very dumb move, both logically and strategically. So even if it came down to the states, they'd have to be very careful in how they handled it, and in most cases they'd probably just wash their hands of it.
They're also radically different in terms of long-term consequences. Abortion terminates a life before it has a chance and can easily be argued as a form of murder (and profiteering by medical research organizations but that's another can of worms entirely), versus gay marriage is largely just seen as a lifestyle choice that doesn't really harm anyone. There would be a lot fewer states (probably none, maybe two) and interest groups clamoring to end gay marriage by comparison to trigger laws from the Roe overturning.

Well it sort of sets a precedent now that federal laws should be for states to decide.
Big one is - Federal anti-discrimination and civil rights laws that protect against racial, age, gender and disability discrimination.
That is a target and has been for a while

the entire process is more than just Abortion.
When that gets overturned as per abortion ruling, how will people in say Texas feel when there is a quota enforced on colleges and school on the number of non whites allowed, or introduction of white only schools.
Yes Gay right will go first, easy target

Phys, they don't want equal rights, they want more rights. In my life I've had two lesbian friends and one gay friend. You would never have known this about them, because like most of us, they kept it in the bedroom.
The LGBTQ+ community is mostly made up of attention whores. Look at me. Look at me. My cousin rented a car. He asked if his girlfriend could drive the car under the basic insurance plan. He was told that SHE couldn't, but if SHE was a HE, then HE would be covered under the insurance. Is that equality?
A tranny on this site blocked me. I just said that I don't want men going into women's restrooms. I'm not worried about the women, but what about the little girls? You can put as much lipstick as you want on a pig, but it's still a pig.
Some things should be, but not because it is right or wrong... but because its federal overreach and under the 10th should fall under state rights.
Then some things like gay marriage or marriage itself should be revisited, not because its right or wrong but because the government shouldn't be involved in marriage at ALL. It wasn't for hundreds of years, it need not be in marriage between anyone at all.
Let a man marry two women and the two women marry each other, let gays marry each other, no government involvement needed.
Too much government, both state and federal in too many things and need to be over turned.

not sure, some might.
I bought and sold several houses recently. There is no way for me to even know anything about them since it is through realtors as inter mediarias. So the laws speak to renting.
As a property owner, don't I have the right to decide whom dwells in my property? I would only discriminate by behavior and ability to pay... e. g... are they going to take care of my property and pay me reliably. But others may think differently, isn't that their right and the state is infringing on their right? For example, what if an LGBTQ+ was traumatized by a whiteguy name Trump... they should be able to deny him the right to rent their condo. Otherwise, the state is forcing them to do something that violates their being. That is wrong.
probably will be.Yes they should be over ruled not because I think gays shouldn’t be allowed to get married or gays shouldn’t be allowed to have sex with other men or contraception should be banned. It should be over ruled because the constitution doesn’t protect gay marriage sodomy or contraception. It is not the role of SCOTUS to have anything to say on gay marriage sodomy or contraception it should be left up to the states or congress because the constitution make no mention gay marriage sodomy or contraception. The role of SCOTUS is to interpret the constitution as it was written when it was written. Example the 14th amendment was created in 1866 this means you must interpret the 14th amendment as it would have met in 1866 not was we want it to me in 2022.
I would not support a ban on gay marriage sodomy or contraception all I am saying it’s not up for SCOTUS to decide. The issue of same sex marriage, like abortion, could have and should have been decided legislatively with public debate rather than by the courts. They still can be, i. e. , legislation at the federal level can be passed addressing these and other issues.
I don’t see how contraception would ever be banned. Sounds like a scare tactic. It would stand to reason; if the justification is shoddy, the ruling shouldn't stand. Now, I'm strongly in favor of contraception and gay marriage, but ruling by judicial fiat is a lousy way to rule, because of how (demonstrably!) fragile it is, if nothing else. PASS A DAMN LAW if you want to see the change that badly.
In the last 40 years, constitutional originalism has passed, as opposed to the constructivism of previous years. Therefore much of what is not in the constitution will be swept away as federal law and the possibility of legislating on the matter will be left to individual states, it seems clear and simple to me. It is only a matter of time.
Justice Thomas might get some support for overturning same sex marriage, but I doubt any other justices will support banning contraceptives.
Roe v Wade being overturned was not about taking away anyone's basic human rights, it was about extending basic human rights to unborn humans.
Two things that could not be anymore different. If Due Process is the basis of marriage grants than so should it be for the Unborn. Therefore you cannot put to death any human without due Process.
LGBTQ+ member here. I already feel like a second class citizen after yesterday. If gay rights are revoked then I will undoubtedly not be a citizen with equal rights...
The conscious of America seems to be pricked now.,,
Same-sex marriage - yes, it's unconstitutional, just as Roe vs Wade. It should be left for states to decide.
Contraception - not reallyDoesn’t that just go against the whole ‘America is land of the free’ speech.
it was never legally well reasoned as per the constitution
Yeah
Same sex marriage is a ofront to the natural orderGay marriage should be , it is a slap to God's face.
Also if a Gay couple wanted me to mow lawn , I should have the right to say no.
Gays in military should be changed too.We should make sex outside of marriage illegal, hopefully this is a step to making this a Christian country again
So basically we should just say fuck it and take away all laws and make it a purge all year round
I am in favour of abortion only if in cases where the child is lgbtq.
Of course. Those laws are madness.
There is no such thing as same sex marriage
