It can be if you have people in your life who depend on you. Other than that, it is your decision and no one can really force you to live if you don't want to. Even if people want you to live you're still going to find some way to die. I mean you in general.
After my divorce I thought long and hard about it. As difficult as it is I'm sticking around until my mom passes. It would have been a lot easier on me if when she told me she was leaving i found a rope and a Stout tree. I could have avoided years (decades) of extreme suffering. But I had obligations and responsibilities , taking the easy way out wasn't an option.
I was honestly very hopeful when covid first started , but I didn't get so much as a sniffle
It can be. But given the circumstances their self view can often be so low that they honestly don't see their act as selfish.
If you see yourself as thrash, getting rid of the thrash isn't selfish. The guilt on friends and family being unable to help you isn't a possibility in their mind, because that is not how they see themselves or their situation.
I wouldn’t blame the person committing suicide of doing anything wrong. For people who say it’s selfish to leave behind family and friends, what do we expect? For them to suffer through their pain for the sake of others.
I honestly don't believe there is a right or wrong answer. I am sure some are for selfish reasons. But not everything selfish is bad. I can understand why someone with terminal cancer in constant pain wants to die on their own terms. At the same time, I can be empathetic towards people with serious mental health issues, including depression. So I don't think the question can truly be answered. There will always be a debate about it.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. If You are still alive then You are still alive for a reason and it would be selfish to go against the reason you are still alive. Think about how it would hurt your loved ones if You take Your own life.
I think it's selfish when the loved ones of someone who commits suicide claims that it was selfish. People treatment mental health differently because they can't always see it... Imagine if a loved one had cancer and was in so much pain and suffering, would you expect them to stay alive just to benefit you? Of course not. So why do you expect someone who is suicidal to do the same? They are clearly hurt and suffering, you just can't see it...
I don't think it's selfish because sometimes life is just too darn hard for some people to handle. The only thing that would stop me is going to hell and not heaven. I don't want to end up in the 🔥 firey pit.
Everything it this world can be selfish if that's how you look at it. Including suicide.
I think it's selfish of anyone to look at someone that's contemplating suicide and think "that's so selfish, how could they do that to everyone that loves them?" That in itself is someone only caring about themselves

No I don't think so, if I have the right to live then I also have the right to die.
There's nothing wrong with it. But that's a huge step and I discourage it if your problems can be resolved. Because once you take that step there's no comming back.
Forget about this religious bullshit of sin so far I have noticed most religious preachers are sinner themselves they openly do sins like rape, murder etc and still get away with it.
Eeeehehhhheeehhhhh... nnn... yyy... I really can't say. Some cases, it is and sometimes it's not. Like robin williams, he said fk it because he was being used by his family and I think he had enough of it. But what do i know, I haven't tried suicide
You said it was because he was being used by his family. He was fucked up health wise. He doesn't want to shit his pants and have his wife wife wipe his asshole.
It's selfish, but understandable. No one knows the amount of inner turmoil someone who's gone through with it went through in their lifetime. Yet, it does leave a great deal of pain behind to the ones who truly cared for them.
It iss kinda selfish because commiting suicide means that you don't wanne suffer anymore but the consequences of that is that you are going to make the peopleel who are closest to you suffer for the rest of their lifes

You know--I always found it really odd that people would try to talk folks out of suicide by pointing out that it's "selfish." Like--the dude is fucking thinking about killing himself. My guess is it's NOT because the world has been super great at looking out for his interests. So if ANYTHING he's probably in a bit of a selfish mood!
I think so. But then again, you don’t know what that person is going through. And if the people around them didn’t check on them. Then can’t really expect too much
I am a suicide survivor. I attempted suicide twice, it was tough to be honest. But the point is suicide is a way to end the pain we're going through.
Suicide is selfish because there are many people tied to you. And you're going to let them down if you kill yourself.
It is sad our society don't really care, but there are people who love you. Stay strong. And remember living each day is courage. You are strong!!! I am proud of you. ❤️
It depends. Cause you gotta understand, why there is suicide. It’s from depression. Depression and stress is a strong emotion, that it affects the body emotionally and physically.

It all depends on how you look at it
From the point of the person who wants out then no as their suffering and suicide is one way out no more pain no more suffering.
But on the other hand you have the people that are left behind wondering what they did wrong what they could have done to stop you doing it,
And your pain and suffering then turns into their pain and suffering.
So really it can be taken either way.
An actual, legit question on GAG worth answering.

Everyone says it is but maybe it is selfish to make somebody live when they are getting no enjoyment out of life and would rather be gone.

He had health issues.
@schittywok Okaaay?
Some people have the balls when presented with health problems to not suffer.
@schittywok Okaaaaaay? idgaf, mate

Yes. Nobody wants to have to literally clean you up, because you were feeling a bit too lazy to get help.
As my old mate Brabo used to say : "Suicide is for cowards, fight back and test fate instead".
