So I found this somewhere and I couldn't agree more.

Making others feel guilty is typically the furthest thing from their mind.
I believe that it is 100% selfish. We have all been giving Gift of Life. There are some of us that live it everyday. There are some of us that put ourselves in a box because we have tunnel vision and we only see things one way , and when we can't seem to find any other way or our way out we get stuck in that box. With our gift of life , we got the gift of love, and the most powerful gift of all CHOICE , 1 Simple word , Choice,, it's more powerful than Love, it's more powerful than hate , , it's more powerful than Death, it's not more powerful than LIFE,, IT IS MORE POWERFUL THAN HOW WE LIVE LIFE, , BUT NOT LIFE IT SELF I Can tell you this , I have never read the Bible I don't have a clue what it says about suicide, I can tell you this, I am one of the smartest people you will ever have m e a n t in so many ways. At the same time I know nothing.. Sometimes I'm just a voice. With words that make no sense, except for the person or people that the words are meant for. Sometimes in life you have to look deep for meaning. But no matter what we have a choice we have all been given that choice to figure it out. 2 becoming the person we want to become by the things we say and do.. I can't tell you who to be, because it's your choice, , some of us get stuck, and we allow our selfs to go around and around trying to figure it out and when we get caught up in it so deep we think we're failing because we can't figure it out, in stead of moving on to the next question , and keep going forward, and keep growing. We allow ourselves to stay right there and spln in a circle and eventually we get tired we beat ourselves up we are mentally physically exhausted, we start telling ourselves there's no way out, and we say it so many times to our selves, we start to believe it, and then that's the only thing you think of now because you have a so beaten into your subconscious that's all you think of if there is anybody reading this right now who is in this Realm of your life take a deep breath walk outside and start walking and breathe fresh air drink fresh water and remember the word choice you have a choice.
As for advice I don't have any , I can tell you what I'm told , if you stop and think about everything on our planet every living and breathing thing on this planet is made of energy and has energy in it no matter what it is it leaves a footprint. Our planet as an energy field around the whole thing one foot off the ground everything energy running through it we have so many things inside of us is r a n bye an electrical current every little component in US is so perfected and then things that we don't even understand yet we were given the gift of life for a reason I'm still searching for that reason meanwhile.. anything and everything I can learn I will take it on I've never read the Bible I can tell you I am a sinner I would send it till the day I die some people believe you have to be perfect get to where we're supposed to be going I am the furthest thing from perfect. I was given the gift of life and the gift of choice. I will make the wrong choices I will make the right choices but it's a choice and it's my choice. I believe you look forever energy Never Die, I also believed if you take that gift of life and do the wrong thing with it as in taking it from yourself on Earth. You still your energy so you will still live the thing is did you live in a box you didn't want it here on Earth so wherever you're going You're Going to Be Alive but you're not going to be able to live there either you took it for granted so for the rest of your life eternity you are put in a box where everybody can see you but you can't move out of that box so the only person you're being selfish to is yourself if you were to take you out life most powerful word in the world choice the most simple word in the world. Suicide is not only an act of selfishness for the most part, but also an act of weakness. Suicide is selfish because it prioritizes the issues of the suicidal person without considering how the person's loved ones might be affected by the suicide. For example, a person with children that commits suicide would leave his or her children without a mother or father. In addition, people that loved this person would be traumatized and bereaved by the sudden death. Suicide is even more selfish and cowardly when the person commits suicide after committing a major crime such as murder. If the person that contemplates suicide wasn't selfish, he or she would be strong and attempt to solve their problems in life and improve their situations instead of cowardly running away from their problems with self-inflicted death. Doing so would help them avoid hurting their loved ones. Suicide is only selfless in rare situations, such as risking your life to save another life or committing suicide when you have no other option, such as, for example, when the victims of the 9/11 bombing unfortunately had no choice but to remain in a burning collapsing building or jump out the building to their deaths. Other than that, suicide is selfish, weak, and cowardly. However, most people that commit suicide rarely do so under such circumstances.
A lot of people say your loved ones will suffer... if these people were really loved ones, who loved the person who committed suicide, then why did that person commit suicide?
I look at people who say that as victim blaming. If the suicide person was actually with people who loved & cared for them then there would've been options to get support & help. I've known people who've considered suicide and the households they're in... are toxic. Foul. Their parents & siblings demeaning to them. If those individuals said they loved & cared for the suicide individual I'd laugh and call them liars.
No it is not, although I may be a little biased as someone who seriously contemplated suicide in 2007, stuck living at home with an abusive mother at age 21 with barely a dime to my name and no way to really make much money in the sh*thole city I was in.
While it doesn't apply to all, many suicidal people don't have anyone who feels like they love them, in their lives. Some suicidal people do have loving family members, or even a boyfriend (if female), but I don't think most suicidal people have them. And the ones who do, yes, often feel like a burden on others around them. Suicidal people aren't really ever thinking clearly or rationally.
I would say, it's more selfish to think about how others might "feel bad" that you're dead, then it does that someone is depressed enough to want to kill themselves, in the first place. It's like "How DARE you not put others before your own happiness!" And the only way I could bu such a weak-ass excuse for suicide being "selfish" is if the victim has young children and he won't have someone else to care for them. But besides parents of young children, I can't understand how someone could think one killing themselves is "selfish..." Even though 50% (as of the time I'm writing this comment) think otherwise.

People act like being selfish is wrong. Ironically if more people were selfish more often instead of having a toxically altruistic attitude, then maybe they wouldn't even consider taking their own lives.
As far as the actual act of suicide goes, no I don't think it's selfish but it all depends on the individual. I think a lot of people who take their own lives are convinced that no one cares for them. Think about the kid who was born out of an affair and is hated by both the mom, dad and the spouse who was cheated on because they are just a reminder of the other spouses infidelity. You'd feel pretty strongly about not wanting to live when not even your own immediate family wants anything to do with you.
Is it sad if they do? Yes. Do I blame them? No not necessarily. Am I encouraging people to kill themselves? Not in the least. I am only pointing out that some people can't be helped. If you are having suicidal thoughts, I encourage you to talk to someone, whether it is someone you trust or a professional, and try to talk your problems out first. Like actually try, not half-ass it and give up afterwards.
I guess until you have been to that dark place where the physical/emotional pain and loneliness seems to have no end. You have tried counseling and medication but to no uvail. And your desperate to make it all stop. You will not understand how suicide is not a selfish act but an act of desperation. A small part of you even sees that the financial burden you are to your family will also end. Maybe the only delusional part of this train of thought. Is that the emotional burden you are to you family will also end and ease in time.
Just my thoughts from having been that preson who attempted suicide and failed years ago. So before you say it's selfish try seeing it through the eyes of the other preson. Who has hopefuly honestly tried but unfortunately couldn't find an end to thier suffering. Ask yourself is it fair to ask them to stay and suffer? Just so you don't have to deal with the pain of losing them? I once also believed suicide was selfish but after being the other person. I don't think it is.
Selfish yes but ide take it a step further calling suicide cowardice and weakness. Its not a popular opinion but hear me out...
I think life is suffering. It’s defined by how you handle this suffering. Handling suffering properly makes you stronger. The quality of your life is to grow and surpass this suffering. Because you need a different point of view to determine value... For instance you know the value of a dollar because you might not have had a dollar at some point. Life has value because it ends. Avoiding suffering is normal but to avoid suffering at the cost of the future is a true sin. Not a religious sin mind you I mean a sin against nature and life.
If to murder is an act of evil then to commit suicide should be just as evil. The moment you stop trying to secure a better future for yourself... well if you don’t care about yourself who’s going to? A world where nobody cares about each other? That’s a terrible world of nothing but despair.
Suicidal thoughts are not selfish! They are dangerous! They are a cancer that eats away at your soul. No one understands your reasoning! You feel isolated and alone. Afraid to talk to others because of their judgement. Does that sound selfish? No! It SOUNDS TERRIFYING! You spend your life afraid to live, thinking about death but afraid to die. Your own personal HELL..
I am speaking from experience. Suicidal thoughts are not selfish! You suffer from self-defined mental cancer. A condition that warrants special treatment.
The selfish act is trying to battle your negative thinking without coping skills and help. You can overcome! You can win but you need a team. A non-judgemental team plus a DEEP SEATED SPIRITUAL GUIDE. I call him father GOD..
Typically when something is said to be selfish in the morally wrong sense you’re taking something away from another person for which that other person is entitled to for the sake of your own pleasure. Nobody is entitled to your life.
So I mean wearing a green shirt because it brings pleasure to you without regards of the wellbeing of others, by the definition you gave, would be considered selfish. Maybe someone doesn’t like green. But do they have any right to demand you to take off your shirt? No.

I mean, they might not be considerate to loved one's feelings of wanting them to be around..
But as someone once said.. Suicide is the last symptom of depression. You feel so miserable you don't want to live anymore and don' think things will get better.
No I suffer with mental illness if you don't have it you have no idea what it's like on some days I don't want to live anymore back in 2017 I went through something called depersonalization/depersonalization for about 6 months (look it up) I've had so many other issues and still have issues to this date sometimes ok sometimes unbearable if someone is going to take their life you can't imagine how bad it is
I said yes but of course the reason why many commit suicide is because of mental health and depression which is hardly selfish. I just think people who have the choice to get help and don’t and commit suicide are selfish. Even so, suicide is more harmful for the loved ones of the person so...
Well some people commit suicide over unbearable pain I believe most who do it are lacking purpose and self esteem and altruistic ambition cause I know people that suffered like crazy who never attempted suicide and I know people who suffered a little that attempted suicide multiple times. To me suicide is usually a product of damaged self esteem and undiscovered purpose and not a symptom of insurmountable pain.
suicides effects 150 people on average, another 10 very hard. From immediate family to hair stylist children. This action spreads like a virus pandemic. Smaller populations call for a emergency disaster after 3 suicides in a week.
This is why when a celebritie have a suicide there is a noticeable spice in suicides across the nation. So the CDC consider suicide prevention a top priority to public health.
I put no but I think it is both. Like many things in this world it is a grey area. I have a friend who took his own life and I can completely understand why he did. It made me think a lot and generally I think suicide is selfish in the sense the person wants the pain or suffering to end and pain is just passes pain to others. But on the other hand I think it is also selfish for us to have someone struggle every day of their life just so we can see them smile or have them around.
I absolutely agree with this post and I wish more people could understand that. There's nothing good about suicide. Suicidal people don't want to cause pain in others. Plus, we don't know exactly what they experienced so we shouldn't judge them.
How's that selfish? The greatest gift to self is life and you're ending it on your own accord, I don't consider that selfish. Marrying a man you don't love for money? Selfish. Keeping two women around simultaneously because both love you dearly? Selfish. But this... How can you say that?
Most people become depressed and kill themselves because they are being selfishly used by everyone around them. Their boss, the banks, the government all want their piece and few people really feel free. It really takes a toll on some people when they realize their life is not really their's but locked into serving this catastrophe that is our modern society. I think they do kill themselves often to feel some control.
Anyone answering "yes" to this don't understand the toll mental health issues can take on a persons mind

Males are almost 90% of all suicides and they do it because society treats them like they are not important, they are disposable, and their existence doesn't matter. So when they do it, they are already at a point where they don't believe it will matter.
A person who thinking about suicide should talk to someome close and be open about it because i'm sure that there are some good peoole outhere who are willing to help to change this person's mind and make him/her happy again cause suicide ain't the answer, the power is to help you and make you happy again!
