Your description is not quite correct. The President does not "appoint" Supreme Court justices. Rather, the President nominates justices, who are then investigated, vetted and approved (or disapproved) by the United States Senate.

It is all democracy in action, though. The President and all the Senators are elected by the voters.

Presidents aren’t democratically elected. They are elected by the electoral college. If we elected presidents democratically, the last Republican president would have been George H. W. Bush in 1988.
