It would be interesting to see what data the map is based on. Is it just perceived danger or actual attacks. Are we talking rape, muggings, or just cat calling and are all countries using the same criteria
Here in the UK it largely depends on where you live, I'd argue that in any area a woman is then unsafe then so is a man. If you walk into a shithole neighbourhood you risk being attacked.
Personally in most of the places I go I feel very safe. I walk unlit roads at night, visit many local towns etc and I've never had any problems. To put it in perspective I've walked through the unit tunnel in the video at night alone and unarmed many times

I feel safe because crime rates in my city have been really, really low. Unless you're stupid enough to meet up with an allegedly handsome stranger twice or age, or share nudes with your oh-so-hot boyfriend — I think it's pretty safe in here.

My mom wouldn't let me go out after six. We've travelled after twelve in midnight, after wedding parties, but yeah — I can't go out alone after six.

I think it's really dependent on where you live in the country, too. Where I live now, I can probably go around late at night and not worry. But if I did that where I used to live, it'd be much more dangerous.

I'd say America is rated too highly. If Canada has medium safety, America's much worse.

In New York city just last week a mother pushing her 3mo was shot in the head point blank at 8:30pm.

America is way dangerous. For everyone, not just women. Especially dangerous for women and school children.

I used to leave the house by night but not now - a bunch of missing girls posters appeared by the street near my church and a dead body was found around 5 minute drive from my home and a guy was reported for raping woman at bus stops by my house and a drug dealer approached me when I ate at a McDonalds by my house and I witnessed an attempted arson there and I saw a guy threatening to kill another guy cause he suspected the other guy reported his friend to the cops for a crime and a girl from church told her the guy she was dating that I rejected had abused her and I received death threats online when a guy I rejected wanted to kidnap me and failed. My friend got into a witness protection program when she saw her contacts getting into physical fights and two of my friends were raped while going about their day and a girl I know was sexually harassed 3 times in a week.

Seems very inaccurate when it comes to Europe vs usa. Like Norway and Finland is as bad as the states?, yeah.. no way. Sweden supposedly more safe than Norway and Finland, I would think it's kinda the opposite really. Oslo is a hellhole in Norway no doubt though. Don't know of any woman for example that feel unsafe here outside at night, and I don't know of any American woman who does feel safe out at night. Although sad I know, had our first known rape case here few years ago, foreigner of course.

There is no way America is that light green lol then having norway as a bit darker. So I would say this is not accurate. Then as for my own highly depends what city your in and area, but also every time I hear about a woman been attacked it's normally during the day.
Also if you go out as a woman never trust a cop.

It depends where I am. I wouldn't go out by myself even in the daytime in Philly, NYC, or Chicago. I learned about the buddy system from a young age and I wouldn't just walk alone at night anywhere. If we're talking about getting groceries or something in public, yes I feel safe enough where I live to do that at night without an escort.

Yes, I absolutely feel safe walking, even at night, and while I don’t WANT to go out alone, I certainly could if I wanted to! I don’t care where you are, there are high crime areas, and there are low-crime areas in every country. Hell, every city has areas that are very dangerous, AND areas that are perfectly safe! You just need to be smart and not go out alone anywhere that is not completely familiar to you!

If I am out alone ANYTIME, I'm careful. Crimes happen even in broad daylight, so you should never let your guard down and always stay aware of your surroundings. I carry mace everywhere I go as well as a fully charged phone. I walk with a hand on my purse strap as well and make sure the zipper part is NOT facing behind me (making it harder for people to unzip it).

In certain cities i feel safe. I walked around Charlotte, Raleigh and Vegas alone. Vegas felt safe. Raleigh was straight. Charlotte felt safe only in certain areas. I may walk around Dallas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Tampa, and Nashville alone but I wouldn't walk around NY, Atlanta, Tulsa, Little Rock, Detroit, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Chicago, Houston, nor New Orleans alone. Some places my instincts just say take a friend

Not really, I got harassed few times. last time it was 5pm and I was waiting for the bus at the station and a drunk man came harassing me. I tried avoiding him, rejecting his proposes and leaving my spot but he kept following me. Thankfully a lady noticed and tried to help me get our that situation.
