If the president and prime minister are the head of their respective countries, they have the same standing. For example, the prime minister of the UK or Japan has the same statesmanship as the president of the USA.

However, the prime minister is the head of government but not the head of the country in some countries. For example, Cameroon has a president and prime minister. The prime minister, in this context, does not have authority over the president.

Basically. Every country will have different levels of power and responsibilities but main similarity being the key face of the country on the global stage and meeting with other key faces from different countries.

Under most parliamentary systems the prime minister is the head of government, as is the president of the United States. But the title of president is different in most parliamentary systems. The president in those systems has a more ceremonial role as head of state unless the country is a monarchy. In the UK for example Queen Elizabeth is the head of state with mostly ceremonial authority.
