What are the odds od recruiting economically desperate or Homeless young healthy guys joining a drug cartel for money?

Let's say I'm a drug cartel boss and I am looking for potential recruits to hire to carry out clandestine drug deals and I give them money and pistols and assault rifles like the Mexican cartels do. Do you think there's desperate young men who are either homeless or feel like they don't know where to go in life and willing to do anything to have a life even by joining a drug cartel? How do the cartels in Mexico get recruits if they don't go after sane homeless dudes or desperate young men willing to pick up a rifle and kill on orders from the boss?

Desperate young men willing to pick up a rifle and kill "for the boss" will be just as likely to kill THE boss when the tiniest of opportunities arise to make a quarter.
