I don't think you can understate how insane this comment is and really justifies our paranoia that the FBI and CIA are engaged in a color revolution within the United States against half the population.

If you don’t think inverting your penis and claiming to be a woman is ok, and if you don’t think we should give tax dollars to foreign nationals who have illegally entered the country, and if you oppose tranny story hour, and if you didn’t see the need to wear masks forever because of Covid, then YOU are the problem. That's completely insane. I want nothing to do with brain-twisted monsters who believe that. And I'm not even a Republican. I do, however, believe that it's the Democrats who are the most dangerous threat to America. It's obvious.

Lies and propaganda. Divide and conquer…. that’s what politicians have been doing since the 70s…. (And breeding / propagating stupidity).
The internet and social media have definitely helped the propaganda machines from both sides….. find a topic or race or whatever…. Turn it to an extreme one way or the other (or both) and sit back and watch the shit show.
The politicians / propaganda machines have done such a great job that they are agitating both sides so much so that groups and individuals refuse to associate/communicate with anyone with different opinions…. Which plays into their hand….. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t see or get it….. and they are getting played like the proverbial fiddle…..
Ultimately, the vast majority of people are in the middle and sway one way or the other depending on specific topics….
To totally answer your question though…. any top government official making that kind of statement (s) will enhance/reinforce my belief that their organization is political. Also, the individual making the statement should be removed from their position.
Think of it this way: ISIS, Al-Queda, etc are all overseas threats.
The Republicans are homegrown and already they identify as Domestic Terrorists (or did Americans already forget Jan 6 AND the CPAC "we are all domestic terrorists" banner?). They have more guns than children, and they have a lot of children (obviously, they hate pro-choice and think women only exist to pop out babies and be grabbed by the pussy).
There's already been an increase in Republican-committed violence. Republican leaders not only encourage militant gun reliance, but they also put out media consistently encouraging gun violence and voter fraud.
Republican candidate ads might as well be NRA sales ads.
It's kinda crazy to me it's taken this long for American intelligence to identify Republicans as a threat. Frankly, as a non-American, Republicans have been a threat since Nixon.
The head of the CIA has an opinion like anyone else. Obviously he's a liberal who hates conservatives. It means nothing.
What do you want to bet that there are large numbers of people in the CIA who are Republicans? Will you simply validate every CIA agent who agrees with you and invalidate every CIA agent who doesn't?

I agree, anonymous! People say stuff like this, "Republicans are the most dangerous... WHAT? They never give you actual logic. They never talk about facts. All they do is scream slogans, namecalling, try to fire up people's emotions. I don't buy any of this B. S. There are REAL dangers out there. And here our military is more worried about gender and using the "right" pronouns, instead of how to fight a war! Under Trump we had a booming economy, and we had energy independence, and we were respected abroad because they knew we had a president who meant what he said. And "They" have tried and tried to destroy him. WHY? I read an opinion which said that the reason is that he said he would drain the swamp, and the swampers don't want to be drained!
I agree with him. The republicans just seem to be a collection of hate groups who wish the extermination of anyone who doesn't conform. I think it's fair to say if they had total control you'd have a situation like you do in the middle east where being gay gets you killed, women have no rights etc. It's not a stretch of the imagination to think we'd see groups disappear into gas Chambers and the return of slavery.
Given the military might of the USA it wouldn't be long before they wanted a crack at invading China or Russia under the pretense of ending socialism

Al gore lost that election by a technicality and his big thing was climate change that is ever present in our daily national news. Then we have the war on terror from bush jr that we ultimately lost because we never had an end goal to begin with in the middle east.

He is absolutely right. Republicans are the ones with the guns and are twice as likely to be a violent national threat than any other group. They whine about gun rights and being able to protect themselves but they're the ones who are the aggressors! If another civil war ever happened in America they would start it and be the ones we need to worry about. They stormed Capitol Hill on Jan. 6. ISIS formed from the CIA operations in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Some are even former CIA operatives. North Korea formed from USA (and CIA) fuckup in the Korean war. The Taliban came about from the USA fuckup in Afghanistan when the CIA funded and resourced Osama bin Laden and his Mujahideen against the Soviets.
All those were outside the USA. But the Republicans are inside the USA and acting against US interests. The CIA can legally do very little about it. So of course he's going to worry.

I'd say it is a political statement, just as much as if he said Democrats and Black Lives matters are the most dangerous.
Fact is, it doesn't matter who is the most dangerous. The government is creating all these people, they don't just magically show up one day.
Their own policies, hurting people and ignoring problems that they often create themselves, along with a thousand other reasons is what is creating these self grown problems.

It was proven that the CIA was had spies in major US media outlets in the 1960s and was paying those outlets to publish fake news whenever they wanted to. This came out due to how they manipulated images of the hit on JFK that were published in TIME magazine. Sounds dangerous to me. I mean it's fine if they want to play in other countries and not do anything against US laws there... but operating inside the US? Think about it.
They have literally said this for years already. Why? Because its true. Things like ISIS, North Korea and the Talibans are not really valid threats because they dont pose a credible threat inside USA but rather abroad. American right wing extremists on the other hand happens to live in the country and therefore poses a much greater threat by default.
When you see this type of incitement and contempt in the media, pay attention to it because elite opinion and future plans are often expressed through the media.
But it should also be mentioned that Hayden was head of the NSA when it conducted illegal mass surveillance and has a very cavalier attitude toward civil liberties. So consider the source.
It proves he's an idiot, assuming he's being honest. "Nihilistic" and the Republican party's values are incompatible terms, and I find it very hard to believe he was very good at his job if he can't name about a dozen terrorist/militia groups from the middle east alone (including some of our allies of convenience) who were much, much worse.

We are moving into troubling times. When powerful people in government begin to make claims like this, the solution one day will be to herd up any wrong-thinkers, and have them reprogrammed. You're guilty by association. And the investigators merely need to check your voting records to determine your threat level.
Heads of any Government agency are politicians, that this particular politician sees his political enemies as simply a serous threat, not merely the most serous threat only undermines the idea that he can deliver any kind of equal application much-less justice under the law.
I’m thinking when a man coming from a position like that makes a statement like that one might pay attention. You have to factor in his own motivations for saying such a thing. Curious how he now holds the title “former”. That might play a part. To each their own in the end.
