The problem is that parents can't be parents anymore. Discipline of children by parents, in all forms, is equated with abuse, because of a bunch of pompous, know-nothing pricks who say so. And Brits won't tar and feather these pricks for usurping authority they don't have a right to, like in the old days.
So parents aren't allowed to do parenting, but the state sure will prove itself a total hypocrite when it jails parents for fulfilling their God-given duties. Thus, children go undisciplined, and become monsters. And God is banned, so children only have worthless-ass unhelpful "therapy" to fall back on, or drugs. And if they still face ostracization and threats, are made to feel like suicide is the only way out. But that too is a lie, as the monster brats continue to treat them horribly, even in death!
And let's be real: those measures to "end the Wild West" won't stop a single school bully. They'll be abused, as yet another horseshit excuse to abuse usurped power on the masses, and to turn all speech political. To say that men cannot get pregnant can suddenly be grounds for being branded a "terrorist," while the maniac swinging a jagged sword in the air and screaming "Allahu Ackbar!" while he blows up a building will be met with a sickening cry of "we need to be understanding of all cultures," cliche non-argument, and he'll be met with a slap on the wrist!
Britain is the capital of Clown World. Hard as that may be to believe with Biden in the White House.
And whenever a coroner rules it a suicide, not a medical examiner, expect politics. We can't be having someone's precious princess on the hook for murder, now, can we?
I do wonder about the environment the kid was in and parenting. It's easy to blame "social media", but it's the responsibility of parents to be there, to have open communication with their kids and guide them through these hazards of life.
Why couldn't she go to her mom, and have her mom reply back to the bully with: "I know what you're doing. Actions have already been taken. You'll understand soon enough."?
Cue SWAT at the bully's door! Hannibal Lecter mask, the works! Driving little girls to suicide through intimidation, harassment, etc. is already illegal. We don't need more laws; just to scare the shit out of the worst of the lawbreakers.
Instead, police in the UK waste time arresting random old folks for stating biological facts that make fudge packers cry, and arresting teens for asking why their money to stay warm in winter now has to be sacrificed to defend Zelensky's child trafficking in underground military bases amidst a war they don't believe in, because how dare these kids not support the Current Thing!
And when real crime happens, these cops are too busy dancing the macarena at parades set up to worship the fudge packer rainbow demons to do anything about it!
What does the article have to do with age appropriate responses?
I don't censor myself unless I am responding directly to someone I believe is underage. But I can't prevent underage people from reading.
The article is about how social media algorithms are 1) addictive and 2) how they target kids with harmful messages. Those corporations should be held accountable for their deliberate, despicable practices.
But I'm generally opposed to censorship because, once a power like a government or corporation gains the right to censor, they expand it for their own benefit in order to control people and push their own ideologies. And I don't respect or trust anyone who wants to control others.
My hope was to raise awareness of implications of how what someone says can impact another and specifically in regards to age. There are some young people here.
It's not intended to be about government regulation, although it always turns into that. I'd much rather put the burden on "people in the tribe" to behave than have big brother editing. But governments don't think that way. There's a lot we can and have to do as parents because kids are exposed to a lot more at earlier ages and some are not ready for it.
I write what I write, I would not mend my words simply because a kid might read it. That is a topic that a parent should engage with their children and I am in no place to moderate that. Children, especially 15 year olds, should already know what topics they are able to engage with and not. Should they talk about to their parents, even despite no effort made by the parents? Of course, it should be a topic regularly talked about, especially with younger children, so they understand there are boundaries and consequences.
I respect your opinion. I disagree though, people are too mean out here, moreso than in person. Maybe you communicate as you always would, and I commend you if that's the case.
That can be true of some users but the parents and the child are responsible for monitoring those interactions. In many stories involving teen suicide, the child never spoke about cyberbullying to any trustworthy adult (like parents, teachers, etc). Sadly, many children grow up never experiencing consequences and inappropriate behaviors leak into adulthood (such as bullies growing up to be older immature bullies).
There was a 15 yr old on here, i felt like was my little sis, and these crazy ass older men harrassed and bullied her nonstop on here.
It really disgusted me to see these grown men treat her like that.
One guy constantly told her how ugly she is.
Another told her she should kill herself, and be raped.
She deleted her account came back several months later because she told me the abuse was hurting her and she was becoming depressed and she needed to mentally heal.
Very sorry to hear that, kids shouldn't be out here... sadly... it's the amazon jungle or worse.
@msputiton. Wow, that's horrible. Mean people piss me off. Do do that to anyone, let alone an impressionable minor, is unacceptable.
People who do that should be banned from the site. Hell, such twisted sociopaths should be ostracized from society and turned into lonely, scorned, wandering nomads.
That’s terrible! Why can’t people be civil? 😡

I assume people lie about their ages on here at most a few years younger or older. Remember that the average brain only fully matures at 25 years old, so anyage younger than that we have to be sure we are extra helpful in our answers
well said. When someone is below 18, I'm extra cautious what I say, but can't trust anyone until you get to know them.
I generally try to avoid any questions on here from the under 18 members about almost everything. If I'm answering about sexual activity or most of what ends up under "relationship" on here I check the age or age range of the asker. I will be honest, just possibly a bit more blunt with some mid-20s fuckwit or older than with a child.
There should be categories on the site that children can't access.
To some degree, I do consider it but I also dont tread on egg shells, I consider the internet to be exclusively an adult environment, it is simply absolutely unsuitable for unsupervised children and pretending you can make it suitable is some combination of a fantasy and an orwellian nightmare.
But lets be clear here, this is nothing what so ever to do with children, it is about censoring, monitoring and controlling adults who are interacting with other adults and as such it should be resisted with your last ounce of strength.
Its kind of impossible to know the age of anyone who reads your posts.
Frankly kids need to be trained to turn theses things off and see it for what it is as fiction. Although there is no honesty without anonymity there is also no authority.
Ideas must rise and fall on their own merits while facts must be separately researched.
As such nothing anyone says about spesfic thing is to be trusted as true until confirmed with your own eyes by separate means.
Unfortunately we didn't evolve for this kind of information environment and therefore must look upon everyone online as Liers or ignorant fools whose ideas much be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Children not mature enough to do that should not be allowed on social media at all, and those that are must be regularly quizzed to insure they maintain that point of view.
Yes, and I think that it's very important to check our words when there are kids around. I talk to kids with the utmost professionalism and gentleness since they are much sensitive.
But when it comes to adults like me, I get really direct to the point.
One.. I Rarely if ever respond to anyone who is under 18. If i do, its always age appropriate. I can't believe the number of disgusting people on here..
I care because, younger people are more interested in other people opinion, because they didn't reach that mental maturity to know to think for themselves. So if i know the age the whom im speaking, i always pick words that i use
How do we know if the age they posted here is their real age? I remember some user here who had 101 years old next to their profile.
I've found that nearly all pink users lie about their age on here. It's hilarious because they all have the same excuse somehow.
That's a hard thing to do especially on here when so many people lie about their age.
The thing I find perplexing is that apparently depressed people keep clicking on links to look at things which make them more depressed.
How about not visiting them?
I try to give young teenagers more care. I have kids that age.
But if you're asking if I'd use the language that I use here, at work, the answer is no. That would be totally bogus man.
Most of the time if they are under 18 I don't send an opinion.
A lot of the time I don't notice ages on here. If I do I might tone things down a bit, especially the sexual stuff.
Nope they come here, not my responsibility, and most of they are lying anyway.
How nice of her to rid us of yet another annoying teenager.
It's even more disgusting, people on here defend predators who have sex with little kids, mainly boys unfortunately
I just don't go to socials... lol
If she's old enough to read
