Should police allow a person a couple minutes to gather themself before getting arrested in some cases?

Was watching videos of people getting arrested and this cop happened to pull up on a guy who ran out of gas and was filling the car back up again when he got there.

Cop found out by chance that the man and the woman with him had what effectively were bench warents (which is basically when you get arrested for being too poor)

The man was being a baby but the cop goes up to the woman who never spoke to him and Id' her off a photo.

He didn't even let her have a cigarette before taking her away for a non violent crime she had no reason to expect being taken away for.

I just find that a little inhumane. That there's this expectation that someone can walk up to you and say "your freedom is about to be taken away from you" and the person is expected to without any hesitation, allow themselves to be incarcerated.

"He didn't even let her have a cigarette before taking her away" Why is he supposed to waste his time so she can indulge in her addiction? Should he also let her pull out her cell phone and call somebody? If she is hungry, should he let her go to McD and get a meal first? If there wasn't a warrant out for her arrest, none of this would happen.

You know full well that a bench warrent is almost always going to be because someone missed a couple court dates or payments on something silly. Otherwise it would normally have been accompanied by something else.

These weren't violent, degenerate people. And I've been in a position before where bench warrants were out for me and I was innocent and I had to duck the cops while I got my affairs in order exactly because I was broke.

And to be honest, I don't give a shit about the "cops time" he's not that busy. He's not building roads, he's sitting in his car trying to find the least unfair infraction he can enforce because he has bosses and politicians telling him if he doesn't "perform" at a certain level he's lazy.

Which I would imagine is a scary thing to hear if you have a family to feed.

I'm not saying that he needs to bring her to mcdonald's, I'm saying there needs to be respect and adult maturity for the situation at hand and regardless as to whether the person did right or wrong, he has a responsibility to treat cooperative people as humans and with the respect their oath demands.

Laws should be seen as tools for the police to use to handle members of society who create problems. To see it any other way is to abandon what this country is all about in my opinion.
