My parents are both Dominicans but on my dad’s mom side, her grandparents came from Syria however they are very mixed and even have Haitian relatives which is crazy. My grandma and great grandma only knew how to make like one Arab dish or two not many and no one absolutely no one spoke the language. When I took the ancestry test I only got like 10 percent from the middle east like could I even say that I’m part middle eastern now? Lol or would that not be accurate? My highest percentage was 28-30 percent (Spanish) and that’s not even high at all. And I think I got like 12 percent native American. Being Dominican is so confusing 🤣. I feel like I really resonate with the Arab culture and I love it so much so it’s a bit disappointing to only get 10 percent.
When people look at you, they don't see 30% German, 15.7% Italian, 8,758% Arab and 23.3357943% African. There are only few general labels for races, and your appearance in overall is what gets people to define your ethnicity at first sight, not your - mixed - genes. I've seen your picture, and you can pass as 100% Arab XD
That being said, that's regarding appearances. When it comes to B-E-I-N-G an Arab it's your mind that actually determines it. Your brain is what counts for that matter. You said you love Arabian culture, music and language, yes? You ARE Arabian! Even If you were 100% African *Physically* (though you aren't, you do look arabian as elaborated), Mentally, you are an authentic arab. <3

Of course you could. It's what you are. I think it's weird when people "stereotype" your race based on how your genes show themselves in your appearance. Because looks don't make a person who they are. If you're 10% Arab, you are part Arab.
Haha! Isn’t that a pain! I think my Irish was the same. Just not being there you know? I mean I’m like 10 percent but I fit that part of my heritage most. The largest supposedly is Scottish but my dad is like a quarter Italian and that was what he resonated with most. So I don’t know. Lol!!
but yeah I don’t think you can supposedly fifteen is what it needs to be to claim it.
I think in today's culture you could identify as a spatula if you wanted to. So why not? Just say "Not my DNA"! And decide you're as middle eastern as you want to be.
Honestly I always assumed you were half black or maybe had a lot of Italian.

10% isn't much. But neither is 30 and 12. You're basically a mutt/mixed race, but you seem to identify as Dominican the most, so I consider you Domican, but I should've suspended something as Dominicans are usually darker. You never seemed interested in Arab culture aside from your brief stint with Islam. I'd honestly just tell people you're Dominican, but you can tell them the Arab stuff if you know them. Personally, I kind of like you better now knowing you're part Syrian and connect to the culture/region. I know there are a lot of Lebanese in the Caribbean so I'm kind of not surprised. But I think if you really wanted to you could pass for one, as there are a lot of Latina girls who look Arabic. I'm curious what your boyfriend thinks of all this.
The test might not be totally accurate because I heard some people tried multiple agencies and got different results from the different ones they sampled. Also I heard in a ted talk that there is no singular racial trait that makes somebody African or any other race, and that race is characterized by combination traits and nuances so that further confuses the racial and ethnic background of those who try DNA tests.
Girl I'm 1/4 Syrian (my Grandpa moved to the US when my dad was a toddler). I originally thought I was 1/2 Syrian but it turns out that my paternal grandma was Assyrian.
People get understandably confused when I tell them that I'm part Syrian and part Assyrian LOL XD
You say you are what you feel you are. I've done ancestry too. Some things that came up I knew. Others I was surprised.
From your genetic test, I would say no. I still think you could get away with saying your Arab. If I was to look at you without knowing what you said then I would believe you.
Depending on how many of your dad’s mother’s grandparents were Syrian, you are 1/8-1/4 Arabic, so yes, you are part Arabic even though you are not culturally Arabic. I know people who are 100% Arabic genetically but 100% Western culturally.
We are all mixed with something these days, I just say I am where I was born and grew up not really what my ancestors were
Lol so like your ancestors were pirates? That's fucking awesome.
Go with what real facts are other wise people think your not truthful
Do a genetics test called 123andMe and find out who you are. It's eye-opening!
Why would you want to? What's wrong with just being human? Why all these labels?
Yeah, you could be Middle Eastern and the Dukes Mixture LMFAO jk jk jk jk
Yeah, if you have Middle Eastern in there, why not?
I guess genetically you are but really you are just the culture you have or the wherever you grew up
Whatever mix you are it's a good one your very beautiful I'm not trying to be fresh with you but you really are and I love your hair
Only liberals take these tests and make race an issue
You can say you have some arab ancestry.
