Security Camera Remote Controlled Gun?

Would you support or purchase a security camera that has a loaded gun, for security?

e. x. if someone is violating your property, stealing your car, catalytic converter, robbing your house... you have a weapon which you can aim remotely control and fire to warn or shot at them.

You are responsible for the consequences as usual.

Hollywood has glamourized the lethal endgame too frivolously.
The use of 'lethal force' is ONLY to be sanctioned if time and circumstance allows, as a 'last resort'.

Even the much vaunted government 'Area 51' perimeter warning signs 'authorizing lethal force' REQUIRE all 'lesser means' be exhausted FIRST.
The John Wayne / Rambo / Terminator mentality does NOT hold legal standing over mere "private property" possessions.

True, that's the vigilante movies I watched asa kid. Yes, you can't just shoot someone on your property and you don't want to accidentally hurt anyone. But what happens like the current sate where... the police aren't there, the thieves won't listen to verbal warnings or warning shots... and are armed themselves. If they are caught, they are released.. and you keep being impacted by such behavior? Can you shoot someone? If you can't, then you might as well build a brick wall around your house and put stuff you don't want outside for those to take.
This happens when A) people get tired of being victims B) the system no longer protects you (the victims) interests C) Insurance no longer pays for the losses. Your idea works if insurance pays, if it doesn't... most people will switch to defending their "stuff" vs life, some will only honor life an accept the loss... probably those more rooted spiritually.

I'd much rather catch the corrupt, retrain and condition them... for that is the the root issue, training. But it isn't happening due to faulty theories and fear, thus the issues being propagated.

I know what you mean, in theory property can be replaced and thus not worth lethal force. There are however situations where someone destroying or stealing property can result in the property owner's death.

In those cases it should be legal to use deadly force in my opinion.

What 'should' happen too, is let someone take property, the government replaces it until they catch whoever took it. Otherwise for example, someone who's entire livelihood depends on their car, that got stolen is now out of work and ends up homeless, starving and dead (eventually.)

Or like that guy who stole that ladies oxygen tank as she needed oxygen to live, she nearly died from low O2 as a result and very well could of. I think someone should of been able to shoot him to stop it.

The former border between the FRG and the GDR had tripwire guns. It took a number of negotiations including a large credit loan from the West to get them removed. I think my main concern with such defense measures would be to walk into them myself! 🤕

There is a line of case law that's hundreds of years old against this concept ("the spring gun cases"). You can't set a gun to go off automatically no matter what the reason in case an innocent person passes by. If there's a fire and a firefighter comes to rescue someone and the gun mistakenly shoots him. It even applies to things like an electric fence in the ceiling and a burglar breaks in and gets electrocuted. Can't do it brah.

Good points, especially in case of fire and the bullets start going off.
The bullets could be rubber or paint, to deter, not lead... to kill.
It have to be secured well by passwords and such, not automatic... too many errors with AI.

No, cause it will lead to other things. You're basically asking for terminator like, dystopian world. They already made those robot dogs, no imagine them putting guns on them and having them constantly watching your every move to make sure you stay "in line". Sooner or later, that type of tech, like almost everything, will fall into the wrong hands and be abused/used against the general public.

Bad idea. Imagine somebody hacked it. Or you had an ED209 malfunction.

This is the future. They are going to soon put these on every us military vehicle. A system that paired to any calibre of machine gun to auto cannon can target and shoot as accurately as a sniper rifle within a mile or two radius with night vision, thermal optics and motion sensors even inside houses. Nowhere to hide for infantry or insurgents.

criminals don't break into police stations so much, but they are breaking into homes and cars all around. It's not far fetched to extend "ring" into various "robotic" actions. Imagine a drone deployed when intruder invades your car and it follows them, drops ink ballons to mark them, or deploys a tracking device, shoots paint balls at them, boot locks their car, etc.. the sky is the limit.
Either way, criminals push the limits, people eventually respond. Doesn't have to be a lead bullet...
