Okay. I don't think he was ever going to lose Florida anyway.
It's just SO F*CKING BIZARRE to see how Florida is now one of America's best states, when just 12 years ago (and for a while before that), they were considered the armpit of America and Trailer Trash central (especially Tampa and Palatka).
I actually spent a year living in St. Petersburg when I was young, so I'm a former Florida resident. Florida has never had a good reputation in my life until 2018 or so. Now it's considered the state every other state should aspire to be like. And the opposite has happened to California and San Francisco; used to be top state and city and now are the worst of both.
It's so damn bizarre that we're living in Bizarro World. The writers of this reality we're living in must REALLY be trying to shake things up this many seasons into this series.
Glad- and very, VERY relieved. Floridians don't seem to understand just how bad the rest of the country got; dodging the worst of it really shielded them, and I can't tell you how many odd looks I've gotten down here when I warn people about the dangers of concentrated power. Meanwhile, back in Illinois, Pritzker just got re-elected to the emperorship; the people have clearly learned NOTHING.
I feel kinda like Abd-al Rahman Umayyad; the realization that there's nothing left for you back in the place you were driven out of is a damn bitter pill to swallow. Still, I'm in a better place now, and the knowledge that I needn''t've worried about this race is a comfort.
It's awesome! Not surprising though, I hardly saw a campaign sign for anyone else.

My family has been in Florida since 1790, so I am a true native Floridian, and you KNOW we love our governor!
While his victory was no surprise, the scale of it was greater than expected, although Crist was a bad candidate.
He has to be considered the front runner for the 2024 nomination at this point, so we can expect the Democrats to start attacking him even more.
Expected, considering how many billions of dollars went into pushing far right misinformation in the state. A little annoying that people keep falling for it but soon falling for it probably will be mandatory. Not really anything that can be done about it with 70% of the world's billionaires spending their fortunes to get republicans elected 🤷
Oh, I suppose it is worth noting a little backstory. You see, the GOP never liked Trump. They thought he was low class (they aren't wrong) but needed his base to win elections (since they no merits to run on). They've been trying for six years to figure out how to retain Trump's base but sift out Trump. And it looks like DeSantis is their golden opportunity. Some (questionable) members of the left wing media already regard him as just another Trump. That will certianly warm Trump's base to DeSantis for the fact that it triggers the libs (you know you'll fall for it even if you see it coming, lol). They will repeat repeat repeat how the midterms being disappointing is Trump's fault and only DeSantis can lead the party. Then they'll poll their base and see if the brainwashing is working as well as it always does. Then show those polls, marginalizing anyone who disagrees, so their only options are to play ball or let the communists win, which they have been well trained to be deeply afraid of no matter what. You know it will work 😅
The only real wild card is Trump himself. He knows he has to play ball, too, or he could lose the GOPs legal support. Right now that could very well be the only thing keeping him out of prison. But that's not ordinarily the sort of thing that sits well to a narcissist. So he might turn on the GOP in some way if he gets backed into a corner. It's hard to say how. Living in Florida he is under the protection of DeSantis and he must know if he gets too toxic about DeSantis he might lose that protection. But he also would like to sabotage DeSantis's presidential aspirations so the GOP is forced to depend on Trump for 2024. I don't know what he'll do - most likely sabotage DeSantis, if I were a betting man..
On one hand he is human scum in political form but on the other he is making a complete mess of the GOP and Florida which is both counter productive for the Republicans and entertaining as hell to watch.
I would say I am torn.
Why do I feel like the majority of the state of Florida would disagree with you on him making a mess of Florida part?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "political scum."
I'm not perfect and neither are you, so I don't expect any politician to be perfect or to be a saint, but that doesn't mean I expect them to be the devil reincarnate either.
Ah yes, lets ask Florida man and Florida woman about their political situation.
As for Ron DeSantis being human scum? We do have a fairly long list of things he has flip flopped on and otherwise been dishonest about such as his support for Donald Trump. He is someone who will say or do anything if its convenient for himself and lack any sort of moral backbone. Supporting him is just asking to be exploited and manipulated by the conman that he is.
He is also extraordinarily bad at politics. To use two examples we can point towards illegally trafficking immigrants to Martha's Vineyard which is not only illegal but helps the Democrats and his whole spat with Disney World which is a heavy blow to investment confidence and the trustworthiness of the state of Florida for some cheap political points which even that is temporary since they will lose to Disney in court.
To put it simply. He is human scum in political form and only abject failure will follow in his steps.
But you just said how he is messing up Florida, yet, the people who actually live here would probably disagree with you rather strongly on many fronts.
As for everything else, I'm sure someone can word or see things differently than you.
For example, if you say "flopped on" someone can say "changed his mind on."
It's all perception.
It's clear my experience and observations on DeSantis have been different from yours.
Ah yes. "Change his mind on". As in he changes his mind on something based on who is listening such as publicly supporting Trump but at the same time privately (while being secretly recorded) slandering him as an idiot. No, that is called lying.
You are hunting for a perception that supports your beliefs. I am not. I am far more interested in what is true than what I want the world to be and Ron DeSantis is objectively a horrible person and he is doing major damage to Florida as a state. This is not arguable.
@Soteris
If I ask Ben Shapiro's take on Ron DeSantis he will have a different take on him than if I asked Sam Seder
Why do I mention these two? Because their politics contrast with one another and they are very knowledgeable and professional when it comes to nearly all things political.
I think it's all perception most of the time, with people differing in their viewpoints from one another.
But you see there is a problem with that. Ben Shapiro is an idiot. But aside from being an idiot he is also a very dishonest and false person that I would not even trust if he said the sky is blue without having to look out the closest window to check myself.
Again, this is not a case of perspective, he is often times objectively wrong on purpose to fit his own narrative and personal benefit. AKA lying. It happens to be a very common theme among Republicans these days.
@Soteris
How is Ben Shapiro an idiot?
Are you 100% positive you're not letting your personal biases or feelings about him make you dishonest in labeling him?
Sometimes when we are against someone based on ideology or politics, we like to think of ourselves as superior or the other person as idiotic or inferior in some way.
We may attack them based off of emotion.
Oh, I am definitely letting my personal biases and feelings color my perception of him but I have enough self control to only do that after I have already judged him by his merits. As such, I have already objectively judged him to be of bad character such as him failing my patented Trump test. In other words he is one of those people who harshly attacked Trump until they found out that Trump was going to win the Republican primary and in Ben Shapiros case he lost a large part of his viewers until he had to change and kiss Trumps ass.
Again, just an example of many but I do not respect people like Ben Shapiro which is good since they do not respect me either since they think that empty words and lies is enough to manipulate me. Adding emotions on top of this makes judging them harshly much more rewarding for me personally.
@Soteris I don’t respect you because you’re from Sweden.
I don’t respect you because you’re from Sweden... and you’re upset because of how people in Florida voted.
A Swede. Upset at how Floridians vote.
You people really are some of the most spectacular bastards in the whole world. It really is something to behold.
@EmbraceThePain Soteris is a piece of shit from Sweden.
SWEDEN!
But he thinks he knows better than you and millions of other Floridians what’s good for Florida.
But he’s not an asshole. No sir! 🙄
@Agagagagaga Well that is just funny. Do you know what the difference between you and me is? I dont care about you. I dont care that you are from USA or from wherever. You dont matter to me. I dont even care about USA necessarily. Claiming that I am upset about how Floridians vote is so childish to me since it has no impact on my life or my interests.
I am just here to enjoy your stupidity and your emotional outbursts and BOY do you deliver. Dance for me you clown of the earth, dance!
He won by 20%? Wow. I hope he runs for president.
Part of me wants him to run for president and a part of me wants him to stay and continue being my governor.
This might be his moment though. Who knows if he'll have another one?
Good. The liberal media was going into overtime trying to oust him
I am glad he won. I wish we could have him a Governor where I live.
I'm extremely happy, though I'm not sure how he will run for president now
Imagine Miami (a Democrats' stronghold) voted for a Republican
I'm happy for people in Florida. I'm stuck up here in the Democrat run hellhole that is Maryland.
Florida is America's wang so it makes sense you have a dick for Governor.
Totally approve and may be looking at 2024.
Greaseball probably paid for the votes.
No, highly unlikely.
He’s the new leader of the Republican party
Can't stand Ben Shapiro
It’s a good thing I’m sure
